I’ve enjoyed this wonder for several days with a sample from a perfumerie in Barcelona. I think the perfumer wanted to capitalise on the oud trend and mix it with the success of fruity scents like Creed Aventus, but instead of pineapple or apple, it smells deliciously fruity, like mango or apricot. It lasts a long time on the skin and you can detect the base of oud. It’s exquisite, it radiates class and money without being heavy, but its scent is present all the time, crisp, with the fruit at the perfect point of ripeness, cleanliness, and a deep oud base. A gem… the only drawback is the price: 300€ for 50ml, so I’m keeping it on my wish list for the future. Note: the fruity scent comes from Osmanthus.
An enigmatic perfume that evolves in two stages. At first, it’s dark and deep with coriander, nutmeg, and Kashmir wood. After ten minutes, it changes: it settles on the skin and releases oud, amber, and vetiver. It reminds me a lot of Tiziana Terenzi’s Nero Oudh; it smells of saffron but carries rose which softens it. In the end, it’s very woody and sweet due to the two ouds (Assam and Padong Laos) with vanilla and amber. It’s serious, elegant, and evolves from less to more. It lasts over eleven hours, is versatile for all seasons without being invasive but certainly present. I see it as geared towards men but it suits everyone. Ideal for formal or semi-formal wear, for people over 30. Scent 9/10, Sillage 8.5/10, Projection 8.5/10, Longevity 9/10.
In the end, it didn’t work for me. At first, it smells sweet and dark; the notes confused me and I wasn’t drawn to them at all. The chocolate is barely noticeable and the oud is that typical RM oud with spices. Although the composition from start to finish isn’t bad and is rich and formal, there’s something that doesn’t convince me and it doesn’t fill me up. Given the notes, the accords, and the price, I expected something more special. In my opinion, it smells safe and it’s hard to justify the price. It sits well but projects little, somewhere between moderate and soft. In short: yes, but not quite.
Copy this phrase: don’t buy blindly. I took the 100ml version; while it’s not a fragrance that breaks the mould, it’s far from commercial. It wears well all year round if you don’t overapply. It adds seriousness and a touch of mystery. The scent itself isn’t one that leaves you speechless, but you can tell it’s of good quality.
It’s completely taken me by surprise; it smells addictive on the wrist, I’ve received countless compliments, and it lasts all day. A scent with plenty of personality and originality.
