I ordered a sample of the original Café del Mar, but they sent me the new version, which is this one, and I must say it smells delightful. It’s a light yet noticeable fragrance with good longevity. It’s also addictive and very easy to wear. It’s one of those scents that the masses tend to like. It feels like a designer fragrance but with niche quality. According to my nose, it smells like a blend of rubber, strawberry (the most prominent note), with hints of rose, jasmine, and coconut. These last three notes are well-blended and only add a bit of body or creaminess, preventing the strawberry from being too sweet or acidic and resembling chewing gum. Despite the notes, it’s not a gourmand fragrance. Perhaps only 5%. Interestingly, it doesn’t smell like coffee or sea. Perhaps the coffee note is so minimal and well-blended that it’s barely noticeable, but something tells me it’s there. On the other hand, the marine or seaweed notes are simply absent. Anyway, it’s a very good fragrance, although it is a bit pricey. EDITED: I have managed to detect the marine note, but it’s very in the background and I only notice it when it dries down.
This fragrance makes me feel unpleasant, it smells like rotten eggs on skin. Try before falling for the hype.
Fantastic perfume! Like the rest of the Ibiza collection, this one is perhaps the most ‘friendly’, with a rich coffee aroma and marine touches but elegant. Suitable for evening/wear in summer or spring, but usable practically all year round. Longevity is quite good, just below its sisters La Isla Blanca and All Night Long, which are a step above, especially La Isla Blanca which is out of this world. It’s true that it’s not groundbreaking, but it’s very well made and feels very natural. Lacking the chance to try FlowerPower, my favourite scents are: La Isla Blanca, Sunset Café, and All Night Long. They are perfumes that suit my taste perfectly, summery, tropical, with good longevity… I’ll try to get all three and test FlowerPower.

Does anyone else smell YSL Y? To me, it smells like YSL Y EDP Intense, with an undercurrent of coffee and a touch more refined. Literally, I waited a year before wearing it again and it sounded exactly the same. Mind you, it’s delicious and I really like it.
Fresh, blue and with a bitter note which I think is seaweed, but it lasts barely two minutes. Then the strawberry explodes and a floral note creeps in at the back, giving it that unisex touch. As it dries down, it keeps that marine spirit, finishing with a musky moss. I struggled to detect the coffee or coconut unless I pressed my nose very close. What really struck me was the strawberry – so welcome! I don’t have another perfume with that fruit. Performance is acceptable for summer (7-8 hours on skin, longer on clothes). It’s a 100% pleasant and super easy-to-wear scent; I don’t understand why some people can’t stand it. The first time I wore it to the office, I got compliments immediately. In the end, sea, coffee, strawberries… what could possibly go wrong?
It opens fresh, blue, and with a bitter touch that I believe is the seaweed, but it lasts barely two minutes. Then the strawberry explodes and something floral comes through at the base, giving it that unisex touch. As it dries down, it maintains that marine spirit that ends in a musky moss. I found it hard to notice the coffee or coconut, only feeling them when pressing my nose very close. What impacted me most was the strawberry, so welcome! Does anyone else smell YSL Y? To me, it smells like Y EDP Intense, with a hint of coffee underneath and a touch more refined. Literally, I let a year pass before smelling it again, and it sounded exactly the same. Watch out, it’s delicious, I really like it.
Exquisite fragrance when dry, but unfortunately it doesn’t work on my skin. While I enjoy the notes on blotting paper, on skin it turns into just lavender and more lavender. A real pity, because on paper I absolutely love it.
I tried it today. The first thing I thought of was CH Bad Boy Cobalt. And I’m sorry to say, I’m sticking with the CH.
I’m not disgusted by it, but I don’t have a feeling for it. It’s curious and different, but mmm, no. I sense the coffee and the marine part; I don’t detect the strawberry, and what I feel most is the resinous part which makes me grimace. It’s pleasant, but if I analyse it, it smells a bit like coloured wax. There’s something chemical that doesn’t suit me. Moreover, it doesn’t perform well either. I recognise it will have its followers, but for me, it’s not. It’s summery, unisex, and quite expensive.
I don’t like it; it smells of sickness and musk used to cover it up. I don’t detect the coconut, coffee, or strawberries. What a pity, as in my head I imagined something different. Edit: Two days later I tried it again, and that unpleasant smell has disappeared. Today, on the first spray, I notice a little coffee but it’s very faint and fades quickly. It’s not a bad perfume, but it still isn’t what I imagined and it’s not to my male taste. I’m still searching for a Monegal I can truly love… next test: All Night Long.
My favourite from the IBIZA collection. Without a doubt. It has a coffee touch at the start, but it’s not a coffee perfume. It’s a musky fruity/floral perfume with something special. The problem is that it projects nothing. Even straight after spraying, no one around me can smell it. A real shame.

I didn’t like it; it smelled of sickness and musk trying to cover it up, or that’s what I perceived. I couldn’t detect the coconut, coffee or strawberries. What a pity, because in my head I imagined something completely different. Edit: Two days after receiving it, I tried again and that unpleasant smell had vanished. Today, on the first spray, I noticed a hint of coffee, but very faint and it disappeared quickly. It’s not a bad perfume, yet it still isn’t what I expected and doesn’t seem masculine to me. I’m still searching for a Monegal I’ll truly love… next test: All Night Long.
It transports me to Ibiza when the heat rises. I imagine walking along the seafront with an ice cream of coffee, coconut, and strawberry. I feel sat on a free bench, watching yachts I can’t afford, and noticing how everything has changed after years. The air smells of seaweed, sea, and flowers. It’s fun to see elegant people with their jewellery and dogs. But the reality is different: this perfume is a juggling act of dissonant notes that don’t work well on my skin. It smells like roses drinking coffee from a shell-less coconut while the strawberry drowns in a chlorinated pool. I thought I’d find sea freshness in a bottle, but it’s a confusing mix towards an extreme and piercing aquatic note. If you have money, go ahead… it holds no appeal for me, despite the evocative packaging and name that don’t translate into an essential perfume.
I agree with Samuel; this is my favourite from the IBIZA collection. It smells of the sea with that touch of algae, coconut and coffee, plus a strawberry note that gives it character. The coffee adds a slight bitterness while the strawberry sweetens it without going overboard, all mixed with a musk that cleanses the scent and makes it floral. What’s curious is that every time I wear it, something different stands out: one day the coconut, another the strawberry. I like it, even though it sometimes sounds odd to me, but it’s worth it. The longevity and projection let me down a bit; it lasts only about 4–5 hours and is barely noticeable for the first 20 minutes. If I find a bottle at a good price, I’ll add it to my collection. Scent: 8/10. Longevity: 6.5/10h. Projection: 6/10. Versatility: 9/10.
Agreeing with Samuel, this is my favourite from the IBIZA collection. It’s a marine perfume featuring seaweed, coconut, and that coffee, plus the strawberry note which gives it character. The coffee adds bitterness while the strawberry sweetens without overpowering, all blended with a musk that keeps it clean and floral. The strange thing is that every time I wear it, it smells different; sometimes the coconut comes through, other times the strawberry. I like it, but it sometimes seems odd. Longevity and projection put me off: it projects for only about 20 minutes and lasts around 4-5 hours. If I find a bottle at a good price, I’ll add it to the collection. Scent: 8/10. Longevity: 6.5/10h. Projection: 6/10. Versatility: 9/10.
It brings out the marine aroma of seaweed, the spices of coffee, and a hint of coconut. However, it has a serious issue with longevity and projection; it barely projects more than 10cm from the moment you apply it, and by the third hour it’s stuck to the skin. For that price, one expects much more.
I absolutely love it; alongside Isla Blanca, it’s my favourite in the collection. On my skin, it smells of sweet coconut without that classic sunscreen scent, with a very soft coffee note and a clean musk.
Afternoon coffee or shower soap? I have no idea what this is supposed to smell like.
Forget it entirely; it smells like coffee with a distinct egg note. It’s an absolute catastrophe.
