Descripción
Café by Franck Boclet is a spicy oriental fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2019, this composition is signed by Bruno Herve. The top notes unfold a vibrant accord of coffee, bergamot and lemon; the heart reveals a woody floral with lily of the valley, rosemary, orange blossom and rose; while the base settles on a warm, earthy foundation of moss, patchouli, sandalwood, vanilla, amber, cedar and vetiver.

It’s worth noting that this perfume’s name promises something different from what you ultimately get. Cafe de Boclet features an androgynous aesthetic with fresh, slightly bitter citrus and floral top notes, which shift in the heart to become distinctly floral and warm. The coffee note seems almost hidden yet is perceptible throughout the fragrance’s evolution. In the base, it becomes quite deep and slightly acidic, likely due to the vetiver and moss. Boclet appears to be an interesting designer, given how he plays with note combinations. Overall quality is satisfactory, with the coffee interacting beautifully with the floral notes.
This feels like a true niche-quality fragrance from a brand that is generally well worth it but remains undervalued and little-known, at least in Spain. Coffee is a strange yet potent aroma. It blends an intense coffee note with green/earthy accords that steer it away from sweetness, elevating it to a greater complexity that won’t appeal to everyone. I perceive it as more masculine, though scents shouldn’t really be gendered. Personally, it has been a wonderful discovery and I now keep it in my collection for cold, crisp days. It has a daring, challenging facet that really surprised me. Finally, the scent closest to coffee emerges once it has dried down and settled; the opening can be a bit startling due to its sharpness. It’s not a bomb and doesn’t project excessively, but it has good longevity and is clearly a personal treat.
