Descripción

Adolfo Domínguez Agua Fresca Lima Tonka is a woody aquatic fragrance for men. Launched in 2023, this composition was created by perfumer Ramon Monegal. In its opening, lime (green lemon) and marine notes awaken with freshness; the heart reveals the softness of tonka bean, while the base settles on sandalwood and musk.

  • Exquisite scent but it doesn’t last as long as a body splash; I won’t be buying it again as it’s not cheap. It works very well for autumn and spring, but I don’t feel it suits excessive heat; it takes on a bronzer-style aroma reminiscent of Le Beau.

Hello, greetings from Mexico; I’m only just getting into the world of good fragrances, niche scents, and perfumes in general, so here’s my first review: Lima Tonka is a morning fragrance, fresh, perfect for spring-summer, perhaps suitable for a mild afternoon too. The combination of citrus with the sweetness of Tonka bean makes it delicious; the sandalwood adds a bit more sweetness but remains tolerable. I don’t perceive the marine notes too much, perhaps they emerge slightly as it dries down. It reminds me slightly of Tom Ford’s Soleil Blanc and a little less of Davidoff’s Cool Water. Conclusion: Excellent if you’re looking for a harmonious, casual scent and live in semi-warm or temperate climates. For the accessible price, it smells much better than average. Usage: Morning and afternoon. Scent: 9/10. Trail: 7/10. Longevity: 8/10. Gender: Masculine 75%.

  • Smells good, like lemon toffee; the tonka adds sweetness to the lemon’s acidity and the musk gives it that powdery effect… but the longevity is poor; after an hour you have to reapply, and for the price… I prefer Natura Humor Paz, which is from the same line, cheaper, and performs better.

  • Of the Adolfo scents I own, Vetiver has the best longevity, yet this Lima Tonka pleasantly surprised me. It’s strikingly citrusy yet sweet at the same time, summery with a sensual touch that women find attractive. Another fragrance in my collection that I categorise absolutely as unisex. A lady wearing AD Lima Tonka would undoubtedly look very good.

(On my skin it may differ on others) The opening is 90% fresh green lime and 10% tonka; after 15 minutes or less, the lime disappears completely, leaving an exquisite blend of tonka and musk until the end of the fragrance, super basic but not generic, with fairly natural notes. The opening makes it appear to be a summer perfume, but unless it’s extremely cold, I see it for literally any weather; it’s a 9/10 in terms of value for money.

  • It’s an exquisite aroma with a well-crafted lime scent. It’s a rich perfume with high quality, but I would have liked it to last longer. The trail is good but… the longevity isn’t quite there 🤨 Still, it’s a treat 💯 out of 💯 recommended 🕉️🕉️🕉️

  • Long-lasting. It’s not as pleasant in scent as Citrus Cedro, but it is persistent without being intrusive. By far, the best-performing low-cost option I have. I use it for informal summer outings when it’s very hot, and it really doesn’t fail (also as a perfume for physical activity). I would not wear it with formal attire.

  • Miguel.Mesias

It is a creamy lemon, they say it’s for hot weather, but it didn’t feel like that to me; I found it better suited for autumn or winter in my case, with good sillage and longevity.

  • I sprayed it onto blotting paper, let the alcohol evaporate, and gave it my first sniff… A citrus burst, lemon/lime with sugar, flooded my nose, a magnificent opening worthy of summer. It reminded me hugely of Virgin Island Water by Creed; I was flooded with a smile thinking I’d finally found a dupe at a good price. When I sprayed it on my skin, that fresh mojito scent returned. After 20-30 minutes, I noticed the resemblance to VIW diminished and it started resembling Solei Blanc by Tom Ford more. Although I like Solei Blanc, the scent of VIW is unique. In the heart and dry-down, the sweet tonka bean and a subtle citrus remain; if I put it in numbers, the lime scent is at 20%. I detect a coconut scent, white flowers (perhaps jasmine), and an aquatic note that makes me feel on the beach with sunscreen. Back home, I used a decant of VIW and must say that Lima-Tonka only resembles it in the opening. VIW retains a lime-with-sugar scent in the dry-down, with the citrus making up 70% of the composition. It’s an excellent summer fragrance; don’t be fooled by the opening as it evolves somewhat similarly to Solei Blanc by TM. I would definitely buy it to have a Solei Blanc dupe. As for longevity, it’s a bit short, around 3-4 hours (with two sprays on skin).

  • If you dreamed of the pure essence of tropical luxury but with the tenacity of a sandcastle, this is your dashing gentleman. Imagine spilling scents that scream ‘king of the beach’, but before you mutter ‘SPF 50’, your aura of lime and tonka evaporates like ice cream in the sun. It’s an olfactory journey to seaside summers, notes that make you drool thinking of a mojito served under a palm umbrella. The twist: this fragrance plays hide-and-seek, and believe me, it’s very good at hiding. Rating: a sweet-and-sour 5/10. Rich, yes, but with a persistence that leaves you wondering if spraying coconut water and dusting tonka beans wouldn’t be better. An experience that will make you yearn for endless sunscreen days, because at least that scent accompanied you right through the shower.

  • A sweet citrus that literally smells like the beach. The first time I used it, it reminded me of suntan lotions you smell at the seaside on holiday. The duration isn’t bad; the truth is it projects little: you’ll only feel it if someone gets very close.

  • It’s one of the fragrances I like most. It smells like a dessert, like key lime pie or lemon pie. I like wearing it on my wrist and smelling it repeatedly. It’s more for spring/summer, but I also use it in autumn because I love eating lemon pie all year. On skin, it lasts quite a while, about six hours, although it doesn’t project much. It’s solved by applying more sprays every three hours.

  • Adolfo Dominguez offers a good-quality lime with coastal marine notes that blend well with a soft, tempting tonka bean under the heat. It finishes with a light, creamy sandalwood with a musky touch, closing this cheerful summer composition. It’s not groundbreaking, reminding one a little of Hugo Boss Bottled, but between the two options and considering the price-to-quality ratio of summer perfumes, I choose this Lima Tonka Agua Fresca. It’s versatile for any situation, ideal for spring and summer. It projects for an hour before settling close to the skin. The duration depends on the skin and heat, but generally lasts between five and six hours (with about six to seven sprays). As always, test on skin before buying.

  • The scent is exactly as the name suggests: lime-tonka. It opens with good lime that vanishes in minutes, leaving only the tonka bean and musk, which is somewhat creamy. Personally, I didn’t like it much; it reminds me of lady’s talcum powder or a makeup box. In a tropical climate, I think it’s only a good option for autumn.

  • Robert Toledo

The first impression is lime, but sweeter than citrus. The opening is soft, nothing invasive or sharp. Minutes later, it evolves into a warm lime accompanying a deep base of tonka bean, woods, and musk, without losing its warmth. For this reason, I recommend it for hot days or fresh days without intense exercise, as on my skin it can become cloying if you’re looking for something aquatic. It lasts between four and six hours. The projection isn’t outstanding but isn’t disappointing either. For the price, it delivers, although I don’t see it as unique. The positive is the combination of lime with the heart; some will like it, others may find it cloying. If it could maintain that initial freshness or be mixed differently, it would be another story.

  • I love the scent, unfortunately it lasts very little on my skin. If I apply it well, it reaches about four hours, and if it lasted and projected more, I would pay double. The smell is great and it certainly doesn’t smell like cheap perfume.

  • The top notes are a delight; it offers a spectacular price-to-quality ratio. It is unisex, though it feels a bit heavier if worn by a man.

  • A good summer option: it comes out super refreshing like lime and then leaves a sweet undertone. It projects for about two hours before settling close to the skin. For the price, it’s ideal for daily wear.

  • This has an unremarkable longevity or projection, and at first I regretted the purchase as it smells strongly of freshly cut lime. That said, I don’t like lime, but as the fragrance develops, it reveals itself as a simple, synthetic lemon pie with a Marie biscuit base, which I find very comforting and intimate. I love wearing a generous amount of this fragrance at home after a shower, to wake up, or on very hot days when I plan not to be out for long.

  • It opens like effervescent Sprite and then releases sweet tonka bean and sandalwood. It’s spectacular, activating with movement and heat. I highly recommend it; it’s distinct and sexy. I love when my husband wears it, and I confess I’ve worn it myself in summer and it works brilliantly on my skin. The bottle is beautiful, the scent is spectacular, and the trail is good. We have a refill and would buy it again.

  • A very rich and seductive perfume, ideal for spring/summer evenings, though not for extreme heat as it’s a little sweet. Recommended for young people; I’d say 15 to 35 is the sweet spot. As for the price, I’m not sure how much value there is; it’s more a matter of personal taste. Compared to the rest of the market (especially Arab fragrances), it falls short slightly in terms of performance versus price. It’s considered expensive in Argentina (around $70 for 120ml). I wouldn’t pay more than $50.

  • A totally exquisite and rich tropical aroma, but unfortunately it doesn’t hold or evolve well in the final dry-down, and its longevity and projection are poor… Waiting for them to release a more potent version.

  • The perfume is spectacular, exactly as described: a fresh water that sits perfectly on sunny days, and even better when there’s a breeze, as it activates beautifully with the wind, leaving a strong, sweet-citrus trail where the quality of the lime really shines through. The dry-down could be improved, but for the price, it’s more than enough. The best situations to wear it are outdoors during the day, as it gives off a certain energy.

  • Lasts 4 to 6 hours on skin and a little longer on clothes with average projection. At €39 for 200ml on Druni, it’s a fresh, citrusy, summery scent with a hint of sweetness and some green notes, like pine. Friends, we’re looking at (at least for me) the ultimate all-rounder. You’ve just showered? Perfect. Heading out to do the shops? Perfect. Don’t want to go all out but need something on? Perfect. I even have to put it up against Citrus Cedro for how versatile both are, though this is slightly sweeter; it doesn’t fatigue at all in the heat. In short: clear the deck for fresh drops, a new lad has arrived in town.

  • Just as the name suggests. A pronounced lime accompanied by tonka bean and a sandalwood base. The marine notes are present, but they are more there to complement a fresh aroma and make the lime even more noticeable. I would use it in climates where it is very hot. It lasts approximately five hours, projecting for about an hour and a half at a good distance. The downside is that I consider the price to be somewhat high; here in Uruguay, it is only available in its 120ml version for 60 dollars. Very expensive for what it is.

One of the richest perfumes I’ve ever smelled, delicious in how they managed to capture both the citrus and the sweetness equally. Very pleasant to wear. Unfortunately, it doesn’t last long on the skin (I get between 3-4 hours), but it has earned me compliments, and that’s what matters.

  • Following my philosophy of buying blind because I hate when sales assistants hound and harass me, I bought this blind because it was on a great promo in Argentina, and I was delighted. It is the simplest: it opens with lime, then the tonka remains after a while, with a slight woody finish. It’s not a beast; it has no wild projection or madness. It is this simplicity, pleasant and sweet, that I find brilliant. For going shopping, visiting the supermarket, or for a walk. Simplicity is its essence and I love it. Given the price and concentration, don’t expect miracles; four or five hours and then reapply.

  • Lima-Tonka opens with quite distinct notes of green lime and marine accords, joined by a very slight vanilla hint and a note no one talks about that surprises me hasn’t been named: CEDAR. After about half an hour, and lasting until the end around five hours later, a very evident cedar note begins to emerge. It’s the same cedar molecule used in Citrus Cedar (and always used in Adolfo Domínguez). To be honest, this Lima Tonka has left me quite cold, as I expected it to be sweeter and with more personality. So far, it has seemed quite weak overall. I will have to try it more to see if my impressions change.

  • MartinElixir

The opposite happens to me: the scent doesn’t overwhelm me and the longevity is top-notch, but it becomes too sweet and cloying. I see it as unisex and very summery; it even smells like tanning lotion, but it’s so heavy that if you wear it to the beach, it makes anyone nearby feel sick. In autumn, it’s insane; I only see it for a summer evening if you’re not going out much. It performs well, smells summery and pleasant, but at my stage in life, I don’t go out at night much, so I hardly use it. Another Adolfo Domínguez that lasts a treat is Black Amber, but by the second day it filled me up so much that I banished it to a drawer. In summary: from AD, the ones with the best longevity are the ones I like least. Lima Tonka is pleasant up to a point, but I can’t find an occasion to wear it. I can’t stand Black Amber. El Ganso’s Limonchello Season is an alternative I enjoy more: it’s sweet lemon but more complex and versatile, doesn’t necessarily smell like the beach, and the dry-down is exquisite. They aren’t similar, but you get the idea. My verdict: a summery scent, heavy on the sweetness, very unisex, and good longevity. Cheers.

A caress of water and light that doesn’t seek to impose, but to refresh with refined simplicity. From the start, the lime bursts with its sparkling greenery, translucent and luminous, like a drop of citrus dew on hot stone. The marine accord, clean but without drama, adds a salty sway, like the murmur of waves in the background of an open landscape. There is serene transparency, a freshness that breathes breadth without resorting to artifices. The tonka appears as an unexpected but contained twist: it adds a soft warmth, slightly creamy, that tempers the freshness without erasing it. The transition to the dry down is fluid, without jolts. The sandalwood adds a polished, milky texture, while the musk suggests closeness, clean skin, and soft light at the end of the day. The trail is ambered, dry, enveloping without density. A composition that doesn’t aim to astonish, but to accompany with discreet elegance. It’s a balance between the natural and the contemporary, between vibrant freshness and enveloping softness. If it were classical music, it would be a piece by Ludovico Einaudi: fluid, melodic, with accessible but carefully crafted beauty. If it were jazz, it would evoke Magic Malik: introspective, fluid, with a luminous phrasing that breathes nature. What colour? Diluted sea green, with reflections of white linen and a golden shadow in the distance.

  • It’s fresh, noble, subtle, and pleasant… tends to bring serenity and peace… easy to wear and doesn’t impose where you go… fits perfectly… tends to receive compliments on approaches and greetings… To my surprise, knowing the AD line, it lasts a long time on my skin… and maintains a bubble on skin for up to 8 hours in enclosed spaces, plus it stands up to extreme heat, especially for someone living on the Caribbean coast!!! Overall, 100% recommended… for daily use or after washing… relaxing and for the price it’s a MUST in my collection… 8/10

  • It’s fresh and subtle. Very pleasant to wear with heat. Not very projecting, yet I can perceive its scent for hours. In that aspect, I was pleasantly surprised. I applied it to skin and clothes at 5:30 am. I could smell it throughout the morning. At 8 hours, I could still detect it close to the skin. Curiously, on clothes it disappeared sooner. 10 hours later, if I press my nose against the skin, I can still smell it… very faintly but it’s there. The good thing is that it’s a fragrance for summer where scents usually don’t last as long, but this one has more than delivered. I haven’t received compliments yet, but it’s true that I’ve only worn it to work a couple of days so far. I’ll continue using it during this week of intense heat because it’s worth it.

  • juliangermain_

Simply a delicious fragrance. The mix between citrus and sweet is perfect, especially this sweet part which is creamy, even reminiscent of vanilla, coconut, or almond (no wonder it resembles Soleil Blanc). The only issue is that it doesn’t last long, but if they corrected that problem and put it in a Louis Vuitton bottle, it would easily sell for $300.

  • My favourite perfume ever, I’d give anything for it to have more power, but well… just spray more.

  • Excellent fragrance for sunny days… fresh with a very pleasant sweet touch, easy to wear, with an approximate duration of 5 hours and a moderate trail for work, university, casual outings… it delivers… for extreme heat, better go with Citrus Cedro.

  • Lucio Fragance

Smells like a lemon pie. Longevity is decent for the price; if it had better projection, it would be an almost mandatory purchase.

  • On Skin Parfums

Hello, the last time I bought Lima Tonka by Adolfo Domínguez was for around €20 for 120ml online, taking advantage of a sale (it usually costs almost double). This isn’t my first bottle. With this quality-to-price ratio, it seems an excellent purchase. The scent is very pleasant for evening wear in summer or daytime in spring. On very hot days, like in mid-summer, its sweetness can feel a bit heavy. A combo I use a lot in summer (when I know I’ll be out during the day and it will get dark) is to wear Citrus Cedro from the same brand during the day and carry a decant of this Lima Tonka to apply in the evening. Although a trace of the first remains, the layering works fabulously, as they share citrus notes and certain chords being from the same brand and designer, in this case the great Ramón Monegal. It’s a citrus scent with a sweet, creamy, slightly sandy tonka bean. It’s not an explosive or cloying sweetness, but rather controlled and soft. On skin (dry in my case) it lasts about 4 hours, maybe a bit more. On clothes, approximately 7 hours. Would I recommend it? Yes. It’s one of those fragrances I always like to have in my collection, for the versatility it offers and how well it combines with other perfumes, as I mentioned earlier. Hope this helps. Best regards!

  • My favourite from the brand so far. It’s not daring; a light citrus with a rich tonka bean base. Longevity and projection aren’t the best, but for the price, there’s no problem in reapplying.
