Bambú 2024 by Adolfo Dominguez

Very easy to like; at first glance it smells clean and masculine. Those green notes, which are nothing unusual, make it light and weightless. For the price, I recommend it heaps; although it doesn’t last long, you can reapply without any issues. PS: I have tried Citrus Cedre, Lime Tonka and Black Amber, and this has been my favourite.

The opening is soft and contemplative: a clean, aquatic bamboo accord blends with green nuances reminiscent of wet leaves at dawn. It is an opening that doesn’t shout but breathes, like a silent walk through a freshly watered garden. In the heart, cardamom adds a discreet spicy warmth that never overwhelms but wraps around like a light fabric. The dry down leaves a earthy, slightly animal trail where cedar and patchouli embrace musk and a soft, almost velvety leather. It is an introspective fragrance that bets on calm as a style statement. It speaks of depth without harshness, of masculine sensitivity without artifice. Perfect for those who value harmony, discreet presence, and the power of the essential. If it were classical music, it would be Gerald Finzi’s ‘In Terra Pax’: pastoral, intimate, with contained but sincere emotion. In jazz, it recalls the minimalist lyricism of John Taylor, where every note leaves space for silence. As a colour, it would be fern grey, a blend of pale green and ash, serene and vegetal like the fragrance itself.

Bambú EDP. This fragrance plays it cool compared to its Adolfo Domínguez siblings. It opens with a damp, earthy, fresh yet clean scent, with green notes darkened by leather and patchouli; as it dries, it becomes more talcum-like but remains a green, damp bomb throughout the duration. It smells like a bamboo forest that has just rained on. The truth is, it smells good; it is one of those fragrances where you think, ‘I’ll put this on, I know I’ll smell good’ – clean, masculine and serious. Recommended for the price for daily use on those slightly chilly spring or autumn days; this fragrance really shines. 4-6 hours on skin is its only weakness in my opinion; if it projected and lasted longer, it would be a 5/5. I’ve received a compliment or two for the fact that it doesn’t project much and stays in a more personal, discreet bubble, so it will go more unnoticed. Perfect for work or school if you want to smell good, be different and be more discreet so as not to bother others, suitable for all ages. Longevity 3/5, Sillage 2.5/5, Compliments 2.5/5.

Another success from Adolfo Domínguez, and there are already several. It seems like the classic AD Bambu but updated. This 2024 version is a fougère with green woods (bamboo, obviously), cedar, and I believe a hint of anise. I also detect some jasmine, as in the original. I’ve really enjoyed it; it’s a classic fragrance, more suited to autumn and winter. Crisp, elegant, masculine, and professional. Very much in the house’s style. Performance is improved compared to the original EDT and it remains relatively affordable.

It’s nice, but it lacks the punch of a parfum; personally, I stick with the EDT, as it is more long-lasting and more complex.

It’s a fresh, charming fragrance perfect for everyday wear! I recommend it for spring and autumn. When I tried it in the perfumery, the bamboo scent fell in love with me immediately 🍃

This Bambú 2024 is a fresh, green perfume with reminiscences of a classic but updated fougère; it is not like Starwalker. Sillage and longevity are moderate, very versatile and of common taste, a very good purchase.

I was given a 10ml decant when buying another perfume and I liked it; I didn’t have any Adolfo Domínguez perfumes and my collection was just missing a green and woody one. It is not a complex or heavy fragrance at all. It feels more like an all-rounder, versatile and not complex at all – an easy-to-please scent that perhaps isn’t so much for night or winter, yet it has that vibe of being a blend of (as the notes indicate) cedar, patchouli and natural, non-synthetic bamboo. 84/100.
