Alien Oud Majestueux by Mugler is an oriental woody fragrance for women. Launched in 2015, this composition was created by Dominique Ropion and Claire Liégent. Its olfactive structure unfolds with saffron and cardamom in the top notes; jasmine and cashmere in the heart; and oud wood and amber in the base.

I tried it on a trip to Vienna these past August days and, to be honest, it adds nothing I haven’t already enjoyed in other Alien editions. This version feels drier, woodier and spicier, yet the jasmine shines so brightly that it recalls the Classic too much, to the point of eclipsing the notes that made Majestueux supposedly ‘groundbreaking’.
I tried it on a trip to Vienna these August days and, to be honest, it adds nothing I haven’t already enjoyed in other editions of Alien. This version feels drier, woodier and spicier, but the jasmine shines so much that it recalls the Classic too closely, to the point of eclipsing the notes that made Majestueux supposedly ‘groundbreaking’.
It took me a while to track it down, but the blend of Oud, jasmine and amber leaves a warm, spiced skin scent with that powdery touch that makes me feel utterly cocooned; I find it very feminine and ideal for cold weather. I wouldn’t recommend buying it blindly, but the trail is beastly and lasts over ten hours. Would I repurchase? I hesitated at first. Update from 13 May: I’d left it in the box, in the dark, for over three months and tried it again yesterday, and it has changed radically for the better. Now the seductive Oud takes charge, it’s sweeter, more feminine and less powdery—I’m fascinated! A total hit; I wear it in spring and love it. Would I repurchase? Yes, certainly. ☺️
