Agar Musk has disappointed me. The blend isn’t bad, barely evolves, and is pleasant and easy to wear, but it smells almost like Cashmeran Velvet, a synthetic essence between woods and musk, without the Agar wood appearing. It makes no sense to call it Agar if the wood isn’t there. The musk is present, but I see no artistry. The only good thing is the beautiful packaging, which doesn’t justify the exorbitant price. Rating: 3.

Excellent aromatic oud. Good projection and longevity. Requires a transition from casual to formal wear and should be avoided in extreme heat, as the combination of vetiver, nutmeg, leather, and oud can become tiring after a few hours. I detect a green note not mentioned on the website; I’d wager it’s violet.

I came across this via the Monegal sample set and have no regrets. Nobody talks about this gem; it’s incredibly potent, distinctive, and elegant. I wear it on special occasions and am very satisfied with the performance; it doesn’t project everywhere like some Arabic fragrances. Personally, I’d give it a 10.
I discovered it through Monegal’s sample set and have no regrets. Nobody talks about this gem; it’s very potent, distinctive, and elegant. I use it on occasional occasions and am satisfied with the performance; it doesn’t project everywhere like Arabic perfumes do. I give it a personal 10.
Agar Musk by Monegal is rich, but it doesn’t last as I hoped. It’s a clean oud with plenty of nutmeg, linear and fading in strength to cling to the skin. At times it gives the impression of having smelled it before; the drydown loses quality and texture. Compared to other perfumes from the brand, it falls a bit short. Rating: 6/10. Tried it in the Discovery Set.

Syrupy and fruity, yet without sugar. The woods are juicy and smooth, like dark berries, with a silky texture akin to plaster rather than fibrous. The bitterness is medicinal, not green, and although medicinal scents often smell dirty, here it is perfectly polished. Monegal prefers clean finishes. It is elegant and linear: like tripping in the lobby of a luxury hotel and noticing the texture of the carpet after the bump.
