Have you worn Agar Musk?

Tell us how it opens, how it settles on your skin, how long it lasts and when you wear it.

  1. Psicostasis

Syrupy and fruity, yet without the sugar. The woods are juicy and smooth, like dark berries, with a plaster-like smooth texture rather than fibrous. The bitterness is medicinal, not green, and although medicinal notes can smell dirty, here it is perfectly polished. Monegal prefers clean finishes. It is elegant and linear: like tripping in the lobby of a luxury hotel and noticing the texture of the carpet after the bump.

  3. SirCharlie

Agar Musk is rich from Monegal, but it doesn’t perform as I hoped. It’s a clean oud with plenty of nutmeg, linear, and loses its strength to cling to the skin. At times, it gives the sensation of having smelled it before; the dry down loses quality and texture. Compared to other perfumes from the brand, it feels a bit underwhelming. Note: 6/10. I tried it in the Discovery Set.

  5. Norman1985

I discovered it through Monegal’s sample set and have no regrets. Nobody talks about this gem; it’s very potent, distinctive, and elegant. I use it on occasional occasions and am satisfied with the performance; it doesn’t project everywhere like Arabic perfumes do. I give it a personal 10.

I came across this via the Monegal sample set and have no regrets. Nobody talks about this gem; it’s incredibly potent, distinctive, and elegant. I wear it on special occasions and am very satisfied with the performance; it doesn’t project everywhere like some Arabic fragrances. Personally, I’d give it a 10.

  7. Memoquique

Excellent aromatic oud. Good projection and longevity. It suits a shift from casual to formal wear but should be avoided in extreme heat, as the blend of vetiver, nutmeg, leather, and oud can become tiring after a few hours. I detect a green note not mentioned on the website; I’d bet it’s violet.

Agar Musk has disappointed me. The blend isn’t bad, barely evolves, and is pleasant and easy to wear, yet it smells almost like Cashmeran Velvet—a synthetic accord between woods and musk—without any actual Agar wood appearing. It makes no sense to call it Agar if the wood isn’t there. The musk is present, but I see no artistry. The only positive is the beautiful bottle, which doesn’t justify the exorbitant price. Rating: 3.
