Dior revives thirteen classics with Dioriginals: from Diorissimo to Dune
Francis Kurkdjian leads the restoration of thirteen historic Dior compositions. Diorissimo, Dune and Dolce Vita now share the oval bottle inspired by 1948.
Dior has brought together thirteen of its historic perfumes under the name Dioriginals, with Diorissimo, Dune and Dolce Vita among the collection’s entries. Francis Kurkdjian leads the restoration of the compositions with the stated aim of recovering their original character.
The work on these classics comes with a shared presentation: the oval bottle inspired by the 1948 design. The selection brings together perfumes from different periods in the house’s history, from Diorissimo, from 1956, to names such as Higher Energy, from its men’s catalogue.
Three names to understand the collection
Diorissimo, created in 1956 by Edmond Roudnitska, keeps lily of the valley at the centre of its identity. The house’s current listing pairs it with jasmine, rose, ylang-ylang and a hyacinth accord. Roudnitska retains the creation credit and Kurkdjian signs the restoration.
Dune dates from 1991 and the brand credits its creation to Dominique Ropion and Jean-Louis Sieuzac. The current presentation highlights blackcurrant buds and mandarin, with rose, jasmine and a woody accord.
Dolce Vita, from 1995, is credited to Pierre Bourdon. Its listing brings together peach, rose, vanilla and a woody accord. All three are offered as 100 ml eau de toilette.
Which perfumes make up Dioriginals
The selection is divided into three groups. The florals are Diorissimo, Dune, Dolce Vita and Forever and ever. The chypres bring together Eau Fraîche, Diorella, Dioressence, Diorama and Diorling. The woody section includes Dune pour Homme, Higher, Higher Energy and Jules.
The shared bottle features a textured oval label and a ridged metal ring with the CD monogram. It is the element that identifies the collection, while each perfume keeps its name.
The British catalogue’s offering
Dior’s British store lists all thirteen entries. The nine florals and chypres are priced at 130 GBP; the four woody ones at 110 GBP.
