  Exquisite perfume: Maurice takes that typical Xerjoff oud, which he adores for using it frequently, yet to others it smells of baby faeces due to the faecal and lactic aftertaste I detect in Kemi and Hayat, a note I simply dislike. Here, it is blended with delicate floral notes that soften, nuance and elevate it into a sublime, polished symphony of luxury. It evokes the same sensation as Jubilation XXV for special occasions. To put it hyperbolically, Hayat and Kemi are perfumes by a crude artisan, whereas Imperiale, true to its name, is the scent of an emperor. Furthermore, the oud note sits lower here than in the other two. There is also Xerjoff Orientale, which is well-balanced; it shares the style of this Imperiale but feels slightly cruder, radiating the same luxury and distinction yet with a higher oud presence, so if you appreciate oud, you might favour it more. Imperiale is cleaner, more polished and therefore more wearable and exquisite. * I do not like Kemi at all; I prefer Hayat with its cardamom, though it becomes overwhelming very quickly.
