The easiest to wear in the Oud Stars range, almost mainstream, and that’s a good thing. It opens with a light lavender that fades quickly, revealing fresh dark woods that aren’t old or dusty. As it dries down, there’s a sweet touch reminiscent of Armani Code Profumo, but without being as aggressive. It lasts around six hours, which is decent for Xerjoff. The sillage tires me out a bit, and sometimes I forget I’m wearing it, though others definitely notice. In short: an easy, elegant, and masculine scent, although the longevity leaves something to be desired.
Fars de es is an absolute gem: herbaceous lavender that isn’t overly sweet, blended with oud and sandalwood. At first, it smells like a fougère with heavy oud, but soon both ingredients harmonise perfectly. The wood is dark yet dry and luminous, while the lavender adds brightness and the bergamot becomes more distinct over time. Chris Maurice has done something masterful. It’s not invasive, doesn’t stain rooms or buildings, and is versatile and balanced. If you’re looking for a pleasant, balanced oud to start with, it’s a good option, although it is pricey and requires limits if you buy too much. Otherwise, save up and buy it. Finally tried the sample, and it’s as if More Than Words has lost half its potency. For those seeking a light oud, I prefer Kobe, Carved Oud, or Zefiro. More Than Words Light? Pass.
Fars de es is a great fragrance from Xerjoff, a propositional fougère ideal for entering the brand. It balances the composition well, especially the combo of ambergris and lavender which gives it an aromatic, semi-animal, and super classic, yet distinct and modern touch. It’s elegant and versatile, fresh and high quality. I recommend it for those seeking an oud base that isn’t skunky or foul, but rather classic with amber notes. It’s worth noting it uses Lao Oud (buaya), a wood distillation that removes the resin, known as ‘White Oud’. GREAT PERFUME. 9/10.
