A perfume with a strong presence, embodying the style of a silent beast. It caught me off guard as I didn’t expect it to be so honeyed and masculine. If you enjoy honey, you must try this gem; I loved Naxos, but Mamluk has taken the crown. I’m utterly fascinated, though I admit honey can be divisive: for me, it’s divine and this fragrance truly shines. It features caramel, osmanthus, and a soft jasmine, with a resinous amber note in between. Then comes the Oud: masterful, balanced, precise, and elegant. It lasts around eight or nine hours and leaves a magnificent trail. If you think it’s gone, you’ll be surprised when people ask what you’re wearing hours later. It’s now one of my favourites in the collection. Unisex, perfect for cold weather and suitable for both day and night.

The ‘oud-miel’ combo delivers without many surprises. Mamluk is the quintessential Xerjoff fragrance, blending that signature sweet base of amber, vanilla and musk with a woody oud and honey. The sweetness is neither tiring nor cloying. The oud is approachable, neither resinous nor overpowering. It’s linear and offers good longevity. Unisex-leaning masculine, easy to wear. I like it, even if I don’t love it; it’s a solid choice for those seeking something different from the classic ‘oud-rose’. Pleasant, nothing more.
