  • Powerful opening, so spray with caution. Reminds me of Perfume Design. It’s floral, then softens within minutes but continues to emit that rich floral scent, especially neroli. It’s not sweet; it’s a green, powdery floral. Beautiful for enjoying on cool or cold nights outdoors.

  • Anne Klein by Anne Klein (1984), a quintessential 80s aldehydic floral. Very pretty, with a powerful opening and well-balanced aldehydes. The floral notes are well-integrated, with neroli leading, tempered by less ylang-ylang. A base of vanilla, benzoin, and amber rounds off the animalised notes of civet. The declared fruity note smells like peach to me, typical of that 80s composition. It reminds me greatly of the style of White Diamond by Elizabeth Taylor, but it has a much rounder, superior dry-down compared to ET. I like it a lot.

  • Anne Klein, the designer who transformed fashion in the US and around the world with that ‘modern woman’ concept—casual yet elegant, something not so common in the 60s. Donna Karan and Dell’Olio carried on her legacy in the 70s and 80s. Her first fragrance is pure bliss: a honeyed white floral with velvet-like nuances typical of the era. The opening is a heady blend of neroli and lily of the valley, perfectly balanced like a freshly cut bouquet. The neroli is intense, while the musk adds personality without being metallic or loud. Notes of galbanum’s green tones, plus white lily of the valley, jasmine, and gardenia, along with a touch of peach, prevent the neroli from becoming one-note, keeping it sweet, voluptuous, and elegant. As it develops, subtle woody notes like sandalwood, balsams, and resins start to shine, gradually taking the lead without hiding the neroli. It’s exquisite; if you love musky florals with neroli and characterful gardenia, you’ll adore it. Lasts for ages on skin. My review is for the old Eau de Parfum made in France, though I believe it’s still produced in America.

My mum gifted me this before Cyclone George in ’98, and back then it was a real gem, but these days it’s nothing like it used to be; I wouldn’t wear it.
