Chloé (Parfums Chloé) by Chloé

It smells very similar to Elizabeth Arden’s Red Door, though that one reeks of heavy makeup; Chloé dries down with a much more prominent neroli and orange blossom. They share almost 100% of the notes, so it must be the concentration.

Personally, I adore perfumes that smell like grandma; they give warmth. This one smells powdery, with that dense, classic vintage touch and old soap. To me, it’s the scent of an antique doll. My mum, however, thinks it smells of urine, haha.

I gave my mother three bottles about five years ago, and it’s one of her favourites, but it had already been reformulated as it lacked power and longevity; you had to get very close to catch it. Now, I’ll simply review it: very elegant, very vintage, and very exquisite.

I loved this perfume; it really made me feel so special. It’s distinct, extremely distinguished, and intense.

Chloé: refinement, elegance, class. It reminds me that I’ve always loved Maja soaps. Chloé is a floral that some people say smells of old age; if smelling old means smelling of elegance, then long live age, long live beauty. I use it for walking around the house, and it’s simply beautiful. I’m 18 years old.

The aldehydes dominate at the start; for the first few minutes, you don’t know if you’re smelling Chanel No. 5, Lanvin Arpège, or Paco Rabanne Calandre. Fortunately, after 15 minutes they fade, and the flowers emerge. It’s a rich perfume, a bit outdated but not old or granny-like; it’s classic, very classic. Perfect for autumn or a special event. I bought it blind and have no regrets. Excellent price for a perfume of such high quality.

The jewel of the 70s! Chloe blends that retro style with a futuristic touch that inspired the entire following decade. It has those typical citrus, balsamic and moss notes, but adds that ‘smoky’ concept so fashionable back then, with tobacco and incense notes that make it narcotic and intense, in the style of Opium. Upon application, those aldehydes shine with peach and hyacinth, while sandalwood and moss dominate. The white florals embrace it and coconut gives it a unique character, boosted by amber and benzoin. It is intoxicating, warm and bold. Over time, the neroli comes to the fore. A fragrance with many lovers and enemies due to its powerful side; for me, it is one of the 70s scents I value most.

I love it, although it was always the quintessential perfume of my grandmother and I would feel strange wearing it. It is strong, markedly feminine but not delicate; it denotes confidence, opulence, sensuality and elegance. It is one of those where you put two drops and cause a sensation wherever you go. Definitely, it is a great perfume.
