In the world of women’s perfumes, there’s a super-trendy accord I call the ‘confit petal effect’. You see it in Good Girl, Solo Ella by Loewe, Goddess by Burberry… It’s a floral version that’s a bit citrusy and very kind. Sometimes it sins by wanting to be everything: elegant, sexy, professional, youthful, summery and enveloping all at once. In the end, by wanting so much, it ends up unclear, getting lost in a simple ‘smelling good’ or that ‘posh girl’ smell others mention. But this Nomade carries it with great dignity. I don’t know what it’s done, but it hits an invisible target with this slightly apricot-floral and resinous bouquet. Don’t expect magic, but within such a common genre, it stands out.

Sometimes it tries to have it all: elegant, sexy, professional, youthful, summery, and enveloping all at once. In the end, by trying so hard, it loses its way, settling into a simple ‘smelling good’ or that ‘rich girl’ scent others mention. But this Nomade wears it with great dignity. I don’t know what it’s done, but it hits some invisible target with this slightly apricot and resinous floral. Don’t expect magic, but within such a common genre, it stands out.
I have a sample at home and tried it right now. It smells pleasant, is totally daytime-appropriate and perfect for enclosed spaces (as long as you don’t overapply). My boyfriend notes the floral touch but thinks it lacks punch. He sums it up as: ‘smells like a posh girl’. His final rating: 7.

I didn’t like Chloé; to be honest, I hadn’t even stopped to look at it until they gifted me this fragrance. I’ve loved it. Very surprised. And I mean for myself, because with perfumes I always say how I feel, not what it is. A very refined scent. It’s daytime, though for an informal evening event where you want to stand out, it works, but its radiance, as its name suggests, is ‘luminous’ for the day. I haven’t tried the rest of the Nomade collection, but the opening with lotus and aquatic notes is soft and delicate. Then the very soft jasmine, I detect powdery notes, even if they’re not in the description. I also sense elemi, softly. It feels calming and silky, leading into a warm base that envelops, with cinnamon and sandalwood. The evolution is very subtle, nothing abrupt. In my mind, it draws a semi-transparent veil over a warm landscape with a gentle breeze. Or a mane moving in the wind on a warm, not hot, day. A little sun that warms slightly rather than being temperate. A very beautiful perfume.
