Descripción
Armand Basi Homme by Armand Basi is an aromatic fougère fragrance for men. Launched in 2000, this composition was created by perfumer Olivier Cresp. The top notes feature a blend of cinnamon, lavender, cardamom and aromatic notes. The heart reveals nuances of nutmeg, tonka bean, lilac, lily of the valley or mock orange and labdanum. Finally, the base notes settle on vanilla, sandalwood, cedar, guaiac wood and musk.

I’ll be the first to award a medal to one of the perfumes that has surprised me the most. The first spray is tremendous; it knocks you out, a hard hit of reminiscences to Jean Paul Gaultier but in another direction… perhaps more artificial, but very imposing, decisive, and delicate, with intensity and longevity. It smells of raspberries with anise and subtle soap. It is recommended to use it in small doses, because it becomes very enigmatic when it doesn’t intoxicate those around you, like an aroma everyone will search for to know where it comes from. Tremendously seductive, perhaps romantic, but it doesn’t quite reach ‘in love’.
I’d been wearing Rochas Man for years, but at 25 I wanted something less sweet and bought this. I don’t wear it daily, only on special occasions. It feels soft yet manly and lasts quite a while. It’s brilliant for cold nights. Niche quality for the price.
Incredible that it has more votes as a daytime perfume than a nighttime one. I am radically in disagreement. It is elegant, formal, and romantic.
After years of using Rochas Man, at 25 I wanted something less sweet and bought this. I don’t use it daily, only on special occasions. It seems soft yet masculine and lasts quite a while. I love it for cold nights. Niche level for two euros.
This house has very good perfumes. This one smells of bitter cinnamon liqueur; it’s distinct and strange, with great quality. I applied a full sample and felt… intoxicated. 8/10.

Intoxicating opening with vanilla, incense, and cinnamon. It’s magnificent because it doesn’t overwhelm or annoy, but rather captivates. After a few minutes, it smells excessively like Bulgari Black; they seem like the same fragrance. That rubber or vanillaised rubber note is very clear. It’s cheaper than Bulgari, which is something to keep in mind. At some point, it briefly recalls the discontinued Cacharel Nemo, which I enjoyed so much in the 90s, although Nemo was more delicate. It mutates very quickly and subtly, then resembles Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin because the rubber turns into licorice. Contradictory feelings. I like it, but since it resembles so many things I know so well, I’m not sure it fully suits me. It is certainly a brilliant fragrance at a good price.
It would be great to reach a day when this perfume receives the recognition it deserves. It’s still for sale yet no one talks about it, yet it deserves a place among fragrance lovers’ dreams. Armand Basi Homme is a child of its time: discreet, persistent, sweet (not cloying), spiced, creamy, herbal, and woody. At first, it reminds me of Le Male, but it also shares similarities with Bulgari Black or Cacharel Nemo. No need to overthink it; it is a product of that era. In that subtle line, it unfolds a seductive, almost intoxicating, liquor-like, masculine, old-school yet new (or what was understood as such in the 2000s) mist. You’ll smell vanilla and a host of mysteries, notes that coordinate like a model changing poses in a shoot: now masculine, now sensitive, now voluptuous, and always charming. I’m surprised Spartaco hasn’t weighed in. He has all the numbers to like it. Armand Basi Homme encapsulates the intrigue of the millennium’s beginnings and still works, just like the rest of those little marvels.
I’d say Bofifa. Spartaco won’t be a fan of Armand Basi given the many reviews I’ve read. Let’s hope he speaks up and stops the nonsense 😀
Top perfume. Subtle, elegant, and with that distinct 90s touch. It smells 90% like Kouros Body, which is one of my go-to fragrances.
You put it on and the first thought is that you are wearing a luxury perfume. Notes of nuts, incense, and something floral. If the person smelling you has sensitivity, they will ask what you are wearing. What a luxury at a ridiculous price and without smelling like something overdone; it is very original. Ideal with a suit and its ideal time is spring.
One of my favourites for men. Very sexy, sensual, and mysterious. Its oriental notes and incense drive me crazy. It has character and personality; it is not for the insecure.

If you are of the Le Male generation, you’ll be blown away by this. It should have much more recognition, as for the price, it has nothing to envy from superior-level designer fragrances. I love it; I hope they don’t discontinue it.
One of those perfumes that 80% do not know and would love. One of my all-time favourites. They say it is similar to Body Kouros, another of my favourites, but it does not remind me of it; it is closer to Prada Luna Rossa Black, allowing for some distance. It is a fragrance you should always have, no matter your collection. No one has told me they do not like it, and it is usually at a ridiculous price.
One of those perfumes that 80% of people don’t know and that same 80% would love; one of my all-time favourites. I see comments saying it resembles Kouros Body, another of my favourites, but it doesn’t remind me of it at all; the one it slightly reminds me of is Prada Luna Rossa Black, allowing for differences. It is one of those fragrances where it doesn’t matter what collection you have; you should always have it. I haven’t heard from anyone who doesn’t like it, and besides, it’s usually at a laughable price.
If you are from the Le Male generation, this is going to blow your mind. It should have more recognition, because for the price, it has nothing to envy from high-level designer fragrances. I love it; I hope they do not discontinue it.
Subjective impression: it smells soft and talc-like (vanilla and lavender), with lilac dominating. Suitable for the office, interviews, or daily wardrobe; it wraps you up and makes you feel comfortable. It is not for going out partying or special events like weddings. It has an 80s/90s vibe that might put some off, although nowadays it is considered original for not being overdone. It is very linear, does not project much, and lasts 4-5 hours. Perhaps reformulated or asking for EDP performance, but you do not ask for projection or eternity. Very versatile. It is not for ‘best mode’ tastes or current trends. If you want something stronger with similar longevity at the same price, try the original Animal Animal. Will I buy it again? No, I am not regretting it, but there are better options.
A hug, that’s what this fragrance gives me. That touch of tonka and vanilla wraps around you with subtlety, without being as cloying as the current vanilla trend. Perfect for everyday wear, especially in autumn and spring. I love it so much it’s now my signature scent.
A hug, that is what I feel. That vanilla and talc scent wraps around you with subtlety, not being invasive or cloying like current vanillas. Ideal for daily wear, especially in autumn and spring. I like it so much that I made it my signature.
Armand Basi Homme reminds me of three greats: Fille en aiguilles, D&G By Man, and Body Kouros. Fille en aiguilles is a dark forest with resin; this is a forest at dusk with wind, grass, and earth, more herbal and airy, without that resin but with a soft balsamic sweetness that embraces like a cold night. It has warm flashes similar to By Man and the warmth of Body Kouros. It is not a mix of the three, just similarities. Its performance is discreet, staying close to the skin for about 4-5 hours. It follows the trends of its time and works today, but it lacks the mystical narrative to be a classic. A pity.
Rich. The blend of spices with the lilac and the vanilla/woody base makes it attractive and versatile; it is neither heavy nor overly formal, landing right in the middle. It is not very long-lasting, but at this price, you can reapply without any problem.
A masterpiece by Olivier Cresp since 2000 that I hope lasts for many years. It is simple: a cardamom opening, a musky base with vanilla, spices like nutmeg and cinnamon, and a touch of lilac. It smells wonderful and is super versatile. Although it seems elegant, its simplicity makes it useful in many occasions, even sports contexts. It reminds me a bit of Body Kouros. The performance is decent; it is not a beast, it seeks to delight and succeeds.
I absolutely love the scent, but the longevity is just about enough for a working day. It smells like a mature, attractive man, reminiscent of Richard Gere over 45. Given how good it smells, it just lacks a bit more staying power.
