Another gem from this designer worth trying. The citrus is noticeable to the max and on my skin it lasts about six hours without issues. That touch of balsamic fir gives it a unique character I haven’t tried before. Intense and different.

Another gem from this designer worth trying. The citrus is noticeable from a mile away and on my skin it lasts about six hours without failing. That touch of balsamic fir gives it a distinct personality compared to what I’ve tried before, intense and different.

  • Today I tried a sample gifted by Jerry Drake, and I must confess, I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone. I’ve worn it all morning; while I adore the opening and heart, the dry-down hasn’t sparked a single spark of enthusiasm. Despite that, people have been praising it, which doesn’t usually happen. As I left a shop, an older lady asked: ‘Hey young man, what perfume have you got on? I love it for my husband’, and added with a smile: ‘It’s rare to see a boy smelling so good, you must be very formal’. I was left speechless by that ‘formal boy’ comment, wrote the name on a note, and she left happy. I was torn, unsure whether to be pleased or not, until she let out a hearty laugh. The opening is fresh and energetic, with sparkling balsamic citrus over a sweet base; it’s cheerful and vital. Then the scent turns green, highlighting pine, fir, and ivy with a spicy touch; I like it, but it’s clear it’s heading towards a classic barbershop route. The dry-down is a pure barbershop fougère: cedar, sandalwood, pine, fir, amber, and patchouli. It smells fantastic and I enjoy sniffing it, but it’s not my style to wear. I like smelling it on the back of my hand occasionally, but I don’t feel comfortable wearing it. The performance is moderate-to-high, not exaggerated but certainly fulfilling; the projection is moderate, it’s not a beast, but if you doubt it, ask the lady, hahaha. Ideal for heat, spring, summer, and hot autumn days, perfect for daytime wear. I recommend it to those who enjoy classic barbershop scents, plus it has decent price and performance.
