Descripción
Jaguar For Men by Jaguar is an aromatic fragrance for men. Launched in 1988, this composition was created by Dominique Preyssas. The top notes unfold a green freshness with basil, orange, grapefruit, lavender, cassia, mandarin, bergamot, thyme, and anise. The heart reveals a woody floral accord with fir, carnation, nutmeg, sage, geranium, cinnamon, caraway, cyclamen, gardenia, rose, and jasmine. The base settles on oakmoss, tobacco, leather, fern, cedar, patchouli, sandalwood, musk, amber, tonka bean, and vanilla.

Testosterone. Children should abstain; it’s not friendly and not everyone likes it, certainly not girls who expect it to smell like sweets, not at all. They’ll run away from that stench (sarcasm). It’s not old, nor modern, but definitely classic. It’s for heterosexual men of any age, though that’s important: men of many eggs, whose character shows that we are the ones who make the difference. Fresh green essence, tobacco, with burnt oranges. This would be Wolverine’s perfume… Greetings.
Proof that a good perfume doesn’t have to be expensive. It opens with tangerine skin and drifts into tobacco and leather; between my simple nose and the fact that I haven’t smelled most of the notes, I don’t know how on earth I’m going to perceive them. Anyway, it smells like a man without being Old Spice. I can’t quite put my finger on why I imagine ‘The Comedian’ from Watchmen with this. If I grew a beard, I’d look better with it, but I wear it in winter and although it does me good, I fear others might find it intrusive, so I try not to wear it in the office.
And for this autumn-winter, two more bottles. It’s a spice bomb: tobacco, basil, leather, green, wet forest, amber, and damp earth. You won’t find anything with such power and quality; its strength rivals YSL’s Kouros.
AROMA: GOOD. PROJECTION: GOOD. LONGEVITY: VERY GOOD. QUALITY: VERY GOOD. BLIND BUY: YES. YOU LIKE THE OLDIES. 6/10. SMELLS LIKE A BARBERSHOP, A CLASSIC, FOR ADULTS. VERY GOOD FOR WEARING TO WORK DURING THE DAY.
Exquisite, herbaceous, woody, foresty, pine, metallic, acidic, citrus, balsamic, green… Jaguar for Men. Could be a distant relative of YSL’s Kouros and some Lapidus. A steal. I love it.
I like it; it’s very pleasant, but it overwhelms me. It reaches a point where it becomes irritating and I don’t want to smell it anymore. From my perspective, it’s not as masculine as it seems; I don’t compare it with other vintage fragrances, but I admit it smells good and has good quality, simply it’s not for me. I haven’t found the right moment to wear it and feel comfortable. It’s not because it’s vintage, because I wear Quorum liberally and it doesn’t give me that feeling of fatigue like Jaguar does.
The best Jaguar fragrance and one of the finest green scents in terms of quality-to-price ratio. It starts citrusy with a delicious basil note that lingers until the end, where leather, tobacco, and cedar emerge. I was surprised by the longevity and projection; it can last around 12 hours and projects very well in the first few hours. It’s a classic that feels very current, nothing out of date, and it’s worth it, especially if you enjoy these kinds of scents.
Wow! What a rich scent! A vintage green aroma, clean right to the bone. Reminds me of another gem in my collection, Oscar de la Renta Pour Lui. A real bargain at the price; I paid 10.47€ for 100ml. Highly recommended.
Cheap perfume with a green scent, a touch of tobacco, and dries down to an absolutely gorgeous soapiness. If you’re looking for something classic, serious, and masculine like Quorum, this will definitely suit you. Plus, the longevity is off the charts.
I’m in my thirties. I bought it due to certain comparisons with Italian shaving soaps and other barbershop fragrances. In my opinion, if you spray 1 or 2 sprays maximum, it gives a good soapy smell, perhaps like a dressing room. I don’t know if anyone has seen green, beige dressing room soaps. It smells more or less like that and then pleasant airs, I can’t explain it. But I repeat, maximum 2 sprays. More than 2 and it saturates and will smell like a man from the eighties and nineties. As for climate, I think it suits mild and cold weather. It could be a good aftershave, but remember maximum 2 sprays, one on each side of the throat.
Smells of pine and air from another time; very old school. It’s a serious, conservative fragrance, perhaps a bit too dense for younger people. Ideal for work meetings or formal settings. It smells clean but comes across as slightly rigid.
Batch 2017 has a lavender opening that immediately reminds me of the majestic Zino by Davidoff, then it moves to a soapy green, but unlike Pino Silvestre, Jaguar For Men has a tobacco note at the base, but a wet tobacco, which gives it a certain ‘stale’ aroma that makes people develop antibodies, no blame to them. If I had to define this fragrance it would be -risking sacrilege- a ‘Ted Lapidus GREEN’, just as with Kouros, Ted Lapidus Pour Homme or classic Quorum, you need character to wear them. Children, don’t try this at home.. WARNING: Apply with moderation if you don’t want to cause rejection with your fragrance. Buy blind? Not a chance, unless you like vintage. Is it worth the price? In my opinion, yes, the cap is very cheap and breaks easily (apparently, it’s a fixed defect in the whole ‘For Men’ series by Jaguar), but this last point is forgiven, it’s only 13 euros.
It’s spectacular: a very green and very classic fragrance, with a deadly basil. Excellent price-to-quality ratio.
Still pure power, lots of basil, caraway, tobacco, leather, fern… very long-lasting, 12 hours or more.
I’m quite partial to fresh, green fragrances, away from current trends. Perhaps I’m getting older. That explains why I bought the fragrance blind, based on the information I’ve gathered. And I’m glad I made the decision, with limited risk given its price, as it fits perfectly. Classic, fresh, masculine and with character.
A classic fragrance with good projection. I definitely recommend it. Perfect for wearing in winter.
I’ll be brief as usual. A very classic fragrance, smells good, but you have to like this type of aroma. I bought it blind based on the notes and I’m not able to wear it. Only for unconditional fans of old-school male fragrances.
Here you can smell quality at an excellent price, a very green and retro fragrance, with hints of tobacco and leather, reminding me of Polo Green mixed with Quorum, so you know where this excellent Jaguar For Men is heading…
Jaguar, housed under the same roof as Lalique and it shows, an accessible For Men line alongside the Classic. Both offer excellent perfumes in terms of price-to-quality ratio, almost buy blind or lose very little if you don’t like them. Clean, soapy scent, one of those you want to smell on the back of your hand all the time. As it dries, oakmoss arrives, a soft tobacco and leather, total masculinity. Reminiscent more of the nineties than the eighties, yet a totally current aroma. Correct performance, even projects for a while. Gift price, among the cheapest I’ve kept in my collection (oriented towards classic-vintage-old school budget). A fragrance that far exceeds expectations.
For me, this is the find of the year. I love it. The price is a bargain, and the key… is to wait for it to dry down. You’ll be surprised.
If Ted Lapidus Pour Homme and Polo Green had a child, it would be this perfume. In its opening, I feel it is similar to the first (without the strength of this one), and in the dry down it resembles the second. It does not stand out for longevity or projection.
A walk through the forest, lots of greenery, fern, moss, with basil very much in the foreground. A very pleasant and well-made aroma, denoting quality at a very affordable price. Good longevity. Highly recommended, very classic, very gentlemanly; I don’t think the younger ones will like it.
I bought it for my husband without having smelled it before. The excellent price was what decided me. Sober and classic bottle, deep and beautiful green. Aromatic and spiced fragrance. I feel it is very masculine and I like it quite a bit (he does too). I would recommend it more for a young man, though not too young, as it has a serious touch.
A green and imposing fragrance where basil and a light touch of tobacco, along with other ingredients, lead to a soapy, dense and fresh scent. Something citrusy and spiced. It reminds me of a green Turkish soap or the famous ‘Nordiko’ soap with other facets, sold in Mexico for decades. This is truly a super-recommended barbershop fragrance. For price/quality, it is the most satisfactory. Beware of heavy sprays (more than 3 or 4 is too much) and the location. No closed spaces. It smells of forest, pines and fresh vegetation. Its strength is the dry down; the opening can be invasive. NOT FOR CHILDREN.
A classic green, soapy fragrance, closer to Paco Rabanne Pour Homme than to Polo Green. Good fixation and longevity on skin. In Argentina, the perfume/deodorant Colbert (straight up) is about 80% similar.
After trying it, I immediately thought: ‘I know this scent!’. Yes, I knew it; it is in one of the most iconic fougères. Soapy and very pleasant. I would say it is the cousin of Versace L Home, about 90%. Identical aroma. (Versace is more potent).
The occasional reader will find more technical reviews further down. This comment is based on my experience. They say that in life and in perfumery, complexity and mastery are found more often than we think. Jaguar For Men is the dandy in this olfactory salon, a gentleman of the old school who enters with the confidence of a modern Gregory Peck, masculine and kind, direct and polite. First impression? A firm greeting from men of their word who do not raise their voices, with a base of basil and citrus. How does it hold? Like life, full of nuances. It is pure Old School, a heart of wood and spices that recalls gentlemen of yesteryear. Too serious? On the contrary, it is for those who do not fear time, wearing it with pride as a badge. Price? The magic: an accessible treasure. 15€ for 100ml, a magician’s trick. Jaguar For Men is a toast to nostalgia with offline relevance. Not just fragrance, a statement of character, a wink to those who do not fear showing their failures and successes. Affordable in price, rich in essence. Good luck, gentlemen!
Oysters Jaguar. How can it smell so good? Fantastic. Green, fresh, long-lasting, classic, absolutely delicious.
Green, astringent, sober and slightly acidic. A good vintage perfume for the back of the wardrobe. I don’t see it as similar to Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, One Man Show or Polo Green. It lacks the honeyed sweet part of the first, doesn’t have the well-green, zesty finish of One Man Show (though they share basil), and lacks the overwhelming presence of the green Polo with its green and tobacco blend. In its time (1988), it was a cheaper green alternative to those vintage titans. It still is today. I find it more similar to Natura’s Mr N, also a fougere from that era.
Green, vintage, classic, soapy, luxurious, gentlemanly, long-lasting, rich, very good perfume.
Classic, mature and elegant, with that patina of the old school. Green, smoky, with that underlying tobacco note which is a real treat. A clean, classic scent, yet rich, for those with personality. With wear, it becomes addictive; I’m hooked. Avoid in heat; it’s for fresh (not cold) weather and never with casual attire, as it would be like wearing loafers with track pants. Best for dressing well, in fresh weather (spring or autumn), and if it rains, even better. I don’t find it musty, though it might scare off the very young. I see it as Quorum but more wearable, although Quorum is another delight. Perfumes worth knowing, understanding where we come from and where we are going. I’m a huge fan. Atomiser, box and bottle are well done, with an evocative colour. A luxury aroma; I love it. Trail is airplane ✈️. Longevity 7-8 hours and more on clothes. Value for money 10. Highly recommended.
It seems too strong to me with that basil note; the opening is very strong and maintains that strong scent linearly… I prefer Quorum in this style, even more powerful at the opening but with a cleaner dry-down and less strident for my nose.
One of the cheapest perfumes I own and one of the best. For around ten euros, it outperforms many much more expensive ones in its class (hello, Loewe). The aroma is a wonderful fresh green, a very old-school scent very similar to Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, without the slightly honeyed sweetness that the latter has, but it certainly doesn’t need it. For those who enjoy classic fougères, one of the must-haves.
It was my first vintage perfume, a taste 100% acquired, because I hated it at first sniff and from then on a solid relationship was forged as I began to discover its qualities; something like when you go after one girl and end up with another, the one you least expected. It doesn’t resemble Tsar; how does rosemary resemble basil? Only in that they are aromatic plants; something similar happens with Tsar and Jaguar, they only resemble each other in that they are green. What I like most about Jaguar is its opening, very synthetic yet at the same time very “soapy”; however, context must be given to that term, it’s soap from the old days, not from now; more or less like the smell of those colourful Palmolive soap bars that never went missing in 90s households. Subsequently, as it dries down, tobacco, moss and amber come in, a very 70s and 80s combination, which ends giving it a warm nuance, which personally I don’t like that much, though I don’t dislike it. Jaguar for Men is a DNA that reflects the personality of the classic British man very well, a dry, serious man with posture and composure. In fact, the moment I felt most comfortable using it was a spring morning in a London café, dressed in a shirt.
A very classic-style men’s perfume. For mature people who don’t like fruity or vanilla scents. It could be a signature fragrance for people in their 40s and beyond.
Wild, green, clean and woody. Four adjectives that perfectly describe this fragrance from the Lalique house. Masculine to a fault, it bears a certain resemblance to Polo Green and Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, being Jaguar for Men much wilder and less domesticated than the two aforementioned. It’s a burst of green that reminds you of a pine forest, a walk in nature with oak trees laden with moss. Youngsters should abstain. At this price, it’s a crime not to buy it.
It smells 100% like Gillette shaving foam. I don’t know why it reminds me of Paco Rabanne.
If your father or grandfather ever used Royal Regiment and you can’t find that cologne anymore, buy this. I gifted it to my father because he loved that cologne, and indeed, it smells very similar but much more potent. I use perfumes too, but the Jaguar my father wears projects very strongly around him, even overpowering mine. It’s a delicious scent; if you’re a fan of old-school colognes, then buy it because it has that DNA.
Excellent value for money, with a citrus opening that is slightly synthetic but very rich, like an old-fashioned barbershop. Subsequently, it becomes extremely green with a tobacco note, very rich. A masculine fragrance with a touch of sophistication at an excellent price. Perfect for temperate climates. Not for children.
Class. Yes… that’s the word. My favourite perfume out of all I own and have smelled. I know… I don’t fully understand it either, but I’m not capable of lying to myself. With all that medley of notes, to achieve such a clear objective… my dear friend, it’s a reflection of times when passion outweighed money. Projection is more than enough for an hour, lasting six hours on the skin without breaking a sweat; on clothes… well, wash it, and with that personality, few things are done these days. That said, if you don’t like Springfield, Massimo Dutti and the rest, stop reading; this is for adults. It opens with a wild, woody scent mixed with a base reminiscent of brand new Oxford boots… the smell of luxury car upholstery… and if you wish, a convertible so you can smell the forest properly. After the first half-hour, I’m reminded of that mix of a mechanic’s greasy rag and new tyre. It dries down into woods and a light touch of tobacco, which hold the fragrance together. Forest, upholstery, grease, tyres, pipe smoke… everything a British gentleman in a tweed suit embodies. Given the number of declared notes, its personality and elegance in the purest British style, and that blend of fougère and Chypre translating olfactorily into everything a luxury car brand contains, it’s no coincidence… it’s a job well done. Well done to Preyssas +1.
