Descripción
Black Tie by Celine is an oriental woody fragrance from the olfactory family, created by perfumer Olivier Polge and launched in 2019. This timeless composition, designed for both men and women, unfolds an olfactory pyramid where top notes of bergamot and cardamom give way to a heart of sambac jasmine and Bulgarian rose, settling on a base of sandalwood, patchouli and amber.

Three words: vanilla in its prime. Or rather: a masterpiece. Black Tie has quickly jumped to my top 3. It is a dark vanilla, with wood and a touch of powder, a simple blend that smells like nothing else I’ve tried. It is not gourmand or childish, but adult, sophisticated, and smelling of luxury. Unisex to the hundred per cent, with a longevity that is respected (5-6 hours).
It is exquisite, a work of art. I wore it today at 40 degrees in Madrid, and for me, it’s not heavy at all; with the heat of the skin, I believe its potency increases. It has a little of everything I like: sweet, powdery, and even a smoky touch. It feels very elegant and sexy, giving me the sensation that I could conquer the world with this perfume. Its trail isn’t very potent (it feels perfect for the first few hours), but its longevity is good; I have no complaints. Without a doubt, a must if you are a vanilla lover.
Black Tie, Celine. If there is a special vanilla in my collection, it is undoubtedly this one. Powdery, woody, and with a balanced sweetness. Its minimalism makes it unique. The vanilla, iris root, cedar, musk, and moss are of incredible exquisiteness. Its elegance is evident in the moderate trail. Don’t think you won’t be noticed, because you will. But the perfume travels with you, and that makes it truly refined. It makes me feel comfortable, confident, and I know I won’t go unnoticed thanks to its intoxicating aroma. Unisex, leaning towards the feminine side. An adult vanilla. It is a masterpiece.

Black Tie has firmly established itself on the podium among perfume lovers (outside Spain, where things are a bit different), and its success is entirely deserved. It is a vanilla that doesn’t overdo it: not too sweet, not overpowering, not overly masculine or feminine; it sits right in the centre. That near-perfect balance makes it universal and versatile. The vanilla smells talcum-like, creamy, almost buttery, as if you had rubbed a bar of cocoa onto your skin, thanks to the iris. It’s an addictive scent. I feel there are other ingredients completing the dish: pepper, woods, perhaps an almost imperceptible hint of incense. They cut through the sweetness and prevent it from becoming cloying. There is tremendous refinement; it seems to use the whole bean with its woody and spicy nuances, plus first-quality iris butter. It’s an intimate, close-range perfume; luckily, it doesn’t invade and only creates a personal bubble. It’s the reflection of the house’s French elegance. Just as Aventus and Elysium are different but from the same family, there are others playing in the same league: Mr Thompson, Vanhera, Dior Homme Intense, Lune Feline, After Club by Rabanne. If any of these suit your profile, give them a try. However, good luck, because it’s so popular they can’t keep up; everything sells out in weeks. It’s difficult to meet demand, plus they use a precious iris butter that isn’t available in large quantities, so they adapt to what’s on the market. An exquisite perfume.
