Velours by Yves Saint Laurent is an oriental fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2016, this composition was created by perfumer Carlos Benaïm. Its top notes of black tea, pink pepper and black pepper deliver a spiced and refreshing opening. The heart reveals floral and resinous elegance through iris root, frankincense and jasmine. Finally, the base notes settle into sensual warmth with vanilla, Amberwood and musk.

Love at first sniff, tested in a decant and I didn’t want to let go until I could buy the full bottle. Now I’m dying to get rid of it 🤫🙈. It’s not super feminine but smells absolutely delicious: earthy and woody vanilla reminiscent of Can Can by Paris Hilton. It doesn’t smell of oud; the vanilla dominates that woody note. On my skin, it lasts ufffffffff, ideal only for very cold weather, as it burns your nose in the heat.
It was one of my first high-end discoveries and I fell in love. As an iris addict, I’ve tried everything, but Velours is another level: a spectacular, warm, and elegant amber iris, perfect for cold climates where that embrace of notes comforts you. I appreciate it more and more in my collection.
