I got this fragrance not because I love it (although it is excellent) but for its performance. In my city temperatures are very high and this type of composition is almost impossible to wear so I only use it for two months a year when it cools down a bit. Valentino Uomo Intense has acceptable performance: it lasts more than 8 hours the trail is moderate but constant indicating high projection as it takes time to fade to skin scent. It is elegant with character and will feel wonderful below 21°C. I have decided to get rid of fragrances that smell good but lack projection and longevity. That is why I bought this: its performance is excellent. Scent 9 Longevity 8 Projection 9 Trail 7.
I prefer the Intense version to the original. On my skin the classic Uomo reminded me of a hazelnut Rochas Man which I liked but did not love. The Intense is clearly gourmand but instead of hazelnut in the first hours there is an iris I associate with Dior Homme. I do not detect leather but the vanilla dry down is delicious like a soft caress at the right point. It still reminds me of Rochas Man but in a ‘deluxe’ version. It may not be the most original but it is more than enough in quality. I am not much of a gourmand but I have picked up 100ml for autumn and winter nights. It is sweet but not over the top. Performance: lasts more than 10 hours and projects acceptably. I think it is strictly unisex; my partner will steal it when they discover it. The bottle is a design masterpiece very good work by Valentino.
Absolutely exquisite fragrance. I tried it yesterday at a friend’s house and only remembered the Dior Homme Intense as the iris is essential in this Uomo. Very rich but in heat it becomes cloying and heavy. It is seductive and elegant to the nth degree; in cold climates it must be a bomb. I hope to acquire it soon. Scent 10/10 Projection 8/10 Longevity 8/10 Price 7.5/10.
Definitively acquired and I have no regrets whatsoever!!!!
It is a fantastic perfume!! I have the classic Uomo from the 2015 batches and feel lucky to own both pieces. Both generate endless compliments: the classic on the female side and the Intense equally. Both compete shoulder to shoulder with niche perfumes with great staying power. Scent: 10 Projection: 8.5 Longevity: 9 Compliments: 9.999.
At first it seems like a Dior Homme Parfum but the dry down is very different. I have owned the Dior and got terribly dizzy impossible to get into a car. The Valentino dry down is sweeter more vanilla-forward. For me this is better than the Dior although tastes are personal.
I bought it blind because 100% of the reviews were positive. Upon smelling it on my wrist it nearly made me vomit: it smelled of bedbugs yes bedbugs. But I did not give up; I waited for the dry down. My goodness! I loved it! It is an elixir for my nose. I adore powdery perfumes and this is the best. Sorry but I like the perfume am very intense even to the point of writing.
These fragrances bore and tire me; they are very overused. I prefer the DHI or Givenchy EDP although the original Givenchy Gentleman from 1974 is a different story. Here there is no mandarin or bergamot only iris and tonka bean with a coffee base like Black Soul Imperium and a leather note I simply dislike. I am a leather fan but this smells of musty backpacks at a flea market tanned with questionable chemicals. In the end just vanilla. It seems the Uomo is too big for it; I feel it is unisex. Paying 60 or 100 euros is ridiculous; I would not pay more than 30/100ml. Au revoir.
Imagine a cocktail you’ve never tried a trendy spot you haven’t visited and a group of friends you feel comfortable with. When everything aligns with a tailored shirt Valentino Uomo Intense is the perfect complement. It smells of iris and vanilla but that’s my colleagues’ business. It projects a measured attitude controlled longevity a masculine sense of humour and intelligent seduction. Announce your best version show maturity and command. Let your brain associate it with seductive mode to maximise the effect. Good luck gentlemen!
Having seen what they’ve done with the Born in Roma line I don’t understand how Valentino Uomo Intense by Puig remains absolutely brutal. It starts like Dior Homme Intense but as it dries down the vanilla emerges and takes over without losing the iris. Of the four commercial iris lines (Prada Dior Givenchy and Valentino) I own three and none blend the elegance of a Dior with the seduction of a Prada quite like this. Plus this is the Puig version not the L’Oréal one and it lasts all day: I could still smell a spray after 12 hours even though the last four were applied directly to the skin. If you like iris give it a try; it will change your mind about perfumes based on this note.
This smells of quality. I do not know if it has been reformulated or was simply more potent, but on my skin it has very good longevity, around 6-7 hours, projecting about a metre for the first two hours, but it is always noticeable. Zara 9.0 is identical in scent, of course this Valentino smells more natural, but the two are spot-on. I recommend it wholeheartedly: you apply it and someone is sure to ask what you are wearing.
The truth is, I like this one a bit more than Dior Homme Intense. The opening is practically identical, but as it dries down, it becomes sweeter. The iris persists throughout the fragrance, softer, accompanied by leather and vanilla. It is not declared, but I smell cocoa or chocolate, part of the DNA of the original Valentino Uomo. Longevity is quite good, around 8 hours, with notable projection for the first 3-4 hours.
Talking about Valentino Uomo Intense is talking about the fragrance that drove me mad. It has a fabulous balance between elegance and casualness, with a clear evening vocation. Its iris note is unforgettable. Everything merges into the darkness, but it is so well balanced that it never feels heavy. It moves like a fish in water in both temperate and cold climates with very good performance. I do not know if the formula has been tweaked with the switch to L’Oréal, but the Puig version stole my heart forever.
This fragrance is a masterpiece. I love it; if Valentino Uomo by Puig was already addictive to my nose, imagine this where the original chocolate/hazelnut/leather gives way to iris. It opens with freshness of heliotrope and tangerine, but settles into iris and leather, the absolute protagonists. The iris differs from Dior’s, but that lipstick scent remains, more masculine thanks to the base leather. The sweetness comes from tonka bean and vanilla, which combine brilliantly with the powdery and toasted sweetness of the iris. Gentlemen, this is elegance and gala, for evening and special occasions, a scent of prestige. It suits a date at a fine restaurant perfectly. Although it is a winter scent, it also works well on cool nights; whether it is hot or not doesn’t matter if you wear it at night with a shirt and trousers: girls will give you compliments. Longevity is 7-8 hours on skin, until the next day on clothes. Projection is notable at the start and sillage is prominent; it drops after the second hour but continues to perform. I have the Puig version because the L’Oréal one does not have the same iris. 9/10.
This scent is pure happiness, blessed glory. No nonsense: iris, vanilla, leather. Simple and well combined. It is the perfect balance between elegance, seduction, and personal enjoyment. I had been warned to try Valentino Uomo Intense and was left speechless; I took too long to heed the advice. But the bottle arrived, and after the first spray, it entered my top five. No deep analysis was needed to know its place. I doubt anything or anyone will manage to dislodge it.
This is exactly how I imagined Dior Homme Parfum before smelling it, having tried Dior Homme Intense, which for me is the best iris fragrance of all time. This one has much greater longevity, just like the Parfum, although the ingredients differ. Here there is vanilla, which DHP lacks, but it matches with a leather note and a well-defined iris that gives that lipstick scent I love so much. Highly recommended. After DHP and DHI, this is the best iris fragrance on the market.
It has a very good scent and the notes are clearly perceptible, especially that talc-like iris smell. This perfume has pleasantly surprised me.
First and foremost, my condolences to Ukraine. Regarding Valentino Uomo: it is the only one with iris that reminds me of the original Dior Homme formula, a beautiful memory. Although it lacks a bit of that classic’s elegance, it has better performance and a striking evolution. There isn’t much more to say: Dior Homme 2005 is my weakness, and this brings me incredible memories of it.
Simple and direct: one of the most elegant fragrances in my collection. Ideal for formal evening events. It has good longevity and a very heavy sillage; five sprays fill the entire room.
Good morning. Let me share: I tried this perfume with a gifted tester and liked it, but it leaves me somewhat undecided due to that talc-like note. Sometimes I adore it, other times not so much. It would be the first fragrance with this profile in my collection. Would you recommend it? Does that powdery note usually bring compliments? Thanks in advance.
A men’s fragrance that doesn’t smell like soap! It’s adorable and refined. To smell like a man all day long. A fragrance for all seasons for special occasions, and leave the soapy perfumes for sports or mechanics.
Valentino stands out for creating sensual and seductive scents. This perfume has everything to get you compliments every day. You can wear it during the day, at night, or in the afternoon, and it will always look sumptuous.
Its iris is what sets it apart, very good, excellent aroma. It should have better projection, but it’s very good. It could remotely be related to the Prada L’Homme. It smells masculine, sexy, fresh, and clean.
The Valentino Uomo Intense and the Dior Homme (2011) fell me in love with iris, a sweet note that projects elegance. If I compare them, I’d stick with the DH, which is more manly, while the VUI is more unisex. That’s why the VUI will be my fragrance for Christmas dinner; that trend gives it less seriousness, perfect for the occasion. I’ll keep trying iris to find more jewels. I recommend it for autumn, winter, and spring, for day and evening.
I don’t find it very masculine; it’s as if they’d put aromatic leather into Lancome’s La Vie Est Belle. It’s well-constructed, but it’s unisex, not very masculine. The price seems high; if you want something similar but more masculine and sexy, buy the 2017 Givenchy Gentleman EDT and save yourself a fortune.
Very good aroma, but I expected more projection according to the reviews. The longevity is fine, 6-8 hours on skin without any issues. It’s worth it, smells pleasant and is suitable for almost any occasion. It’s elegant and honest at a reasonable price. I’d give it a 9/10.
The Valentino Uomo Intense smells of talcum iris, with more vanilla and tonka bean than the others, which makes it more versatile. It’s not a beast in terms of longevity nor does it have such a challenging iris as the Dior Homme Parfum, which I find very unisex, not very versatile, and overwhelming if you over-spray. Valentino has created something fresh and youthful, without straying too far from the Prada L’Homme Intense. It has the base of the previous Valentino Uomo with citrus, suede leather, and that measured, domesticated Dior iris touch, very seductive. Girls love it. On my skin, it lasts 7-8 hours and leaves a trail for about half an hour. I see it as an evening scent for men aged 30 and above; it doesn’t work well with track suits or shorts, mate. Although it’s more versatile, wearing it in extreme heat might give you a headache. It doesn’t smell of lipstick or rich grandmother’s makeup like the Dior Homme Parfum, which is a jewel but a beast. Does it work if you already have other iris fragrances? Yes, for three reasons: it smells interesting and elegant, it’s cheap (€40-50 for 50ml), and it’s the one I use most out of my six iris fragrances. Best regards.
It doesn’t smell of violet to me, but rather of earthy, smoky, and dirty lavender. It’s not unpleasant, but it seems very sweet and suffocating. I haven’t liked it.
To be honest, I didn’t like it; it doesn’t feel very masculine and the dry-down smells strange, I can’t quite put my finger on what it is. In Venezuela, it costs around $160, and I don’t think it’s worth it.
Makeup scents absolutely kill me; the iris-leather combination is disgusting and far too intense. The longevity is eternal and the trail is beastly, which is great if you like it, but unfortunately, I can’t stand it close by.
The first time I tried an iris perfume was with Zara 9.0, and I loved it, very different from the sweet perfumes everyone wears. But now there’s so much iris that I think it’s overwhelming. I let it rest to see how it evolves, as an aroma I like but the strong iris makes me feel like I have lipstick on my nose.
I don’t like this combo of iris, tonka bean, and vanilla at all. I see it as a ‘forced’ aroma. It’s totally subjective, obviously.
It’s like a more masculine Dior Homme Parfum… I like this makeup-like scent DNA, but in this case, Valentino with vanilla and leather undertones leans a bit more masculine. Very good perfume… My experience has been with older batches.
Very good iris perfume, a bit different. It’s true that people have told me it seems unisex, and for me, it is. In my opinion, it’s a better option than the reformulated Dior Homme if you’re looking for iris notes.
Waooo, what a lovely scent. It’s simply delicious, elegant, sexy, and sophisticated. I see it as ideal for dates, dinners, or formal meetings in autumn and spring; that perfect balance between iris, vanilla, and leather, being a clean leather like suede. Overall, it has a fresh touch thanks to the tangerine and clary sage. Excellent fragrance.
It seems the latest batches have been reformulated; they added a cap and a lighter-coloured decorative collar, introducing nutmeg and juniper. I remember the original, very close to Dior Homme Parfum but more ‘chocolatey’. Today, discontinued, it’s not worth buying the remaining batches because they will be the last version. That’s how a fragrance is killed.
I managed to get a 2019 bottle, and honestly, I loved it so much. It has all the Dior flair but is slightly more versatile and domesticated. In Uomo Intense, the vanilla and tonka give it a more ‘modern’ air, in line with current trends, without falling into mainstream or youthful territory, maintaining maturity, sobriety, and elegance. I think it gets closer to the Dior Parfum version (as a reference) due to the orange, iris, and leather; Homme Parfum would swap those for sandalwood and the absence of vetiver, which the Dior Homme Intense would indeed carry. I find it exquisite, elegant beyond measure, mature and sophisticated, but above all… very sexy.
A cousin of the Dior Homme family, here we swap that chocolatey iris for very fine spices and a touch of vanilla that makes it extremely seductive. Ideal for professional environments in cold climates.
Iris-based perfumes aren’t for everyone, and this one sounds slightly sweet to me, like cocoa. Another one for the long list of iris perfumes, mainly from brands like Dior, Givenchy, Valentino, and even Zara with Cap Town Century. Upon spraying, it reminded me quite a bit of Lattafa’s His Confession.
Look, I’m not backing out: it smells like La Vie Est Belle with an added leather twist, and that’s exactly what makes it brilliant. Refined and delicate, yet with that leather jacket giving it masculinity, alongside flowers that seduce at the same time. It reminds me of that mid-2000s perfumery ideal, with precursors like Black XS or the original Dior Homme. It’s a simple composition with almond and cherry nuances at the start, very much in the benzaldehyde praliné style of La Vie, before moving to tangerine and an aromatic nuance smelling of dihydromyrcenol lavender. Then vanilla and orris butter take over, atop an exquisite suede leather, all sweetened by tonka. I detect a hint of coumarin giving a dry tobacco edge, though almost imperceptible. Regarding other perfumes: it vaguely resembles Dior, but not the original Valentino Uomo or the Intense; the concept is similar but they follow different paths: Uomo is aromatic leather with chocolate and hazelnuts, while Intense is a praliné dessert with leather undertones. They don’t resemble Prada in how they work the orris. Dior Homme EDP? Worlds apart: Gentleman is more synthetic, with half-leather and no almond. In short: a wolf in sheep’s clothing has many chances of success. Blessings, friends.
