Refined and standout scent. On opening you notice a bit of bergamot but everything is covered by iris which blends with chestnut and a base of woods and whisky. Good longevity 7 hours. Recommended.
Wow what a rich aroma. Seductive elegant sexy and embracing. It is a combination between its sister Gentleman EDP and Dior Homme Intense a chocolatey scent thanks to chestnuts and amber with that touch of Scottish whisky that gives it elegance and that delicious iris that makes it very sophisticated. A very sexy scent.
Great perfume very elegant good longevity. 100% recommended.
A chivalrous and quite distinct perfume despite being commercial. From the very first spray you notice the whisky iris and chestnut. The combination forms a chocolatey accord in the dry down. The bergamota opening lasts as long as nothing though it doesn’t bother me nor would I have included it in the composition. After 20-30 minutes it becomes a semi-powdery perfume of iris and chocolate that doesn’t exist with a whisky base that makes you feel a total gentleman. Performance (dry skin): Moderate projection for 2 hours then it reduces to close range but it is not a second skin; it is a personal bubble of 15cm. Moderate trail for the first 2 hours then soft but present. Longevity 7 perfect hours after which it becomes a second skin. Batch 2022 bought 3 months ago and luckily it is still the same.
A bomb of a perfume. Nothing more. One of the best things you can buy.
Hello everyone! My experience with perfumes is critical as they don’t last long on my skin but I appreciate them with esteem. This Givenchy Gentleman Réserve Privée exudes warmth like a thick coffee with whisky and a treat. For people under 25 it smells of grandfather; for those over 30 it says they smell incredible. Interesting to wear at night in winter or on cold days in enclosed spaces; being thick it has an effect in small spaces if you want to stand out. Opening 8/10 Longevity 10/10 (12-14 hours on skin 24 hours on clothes) Projection 9/10 (top 3 hours) Product 9/10 (fine and discreet bottle). Best regards.
Very similar fragrance to the EDP but here the whisky feels strong at the start before fading into the base. What really shines is the chestnut vanilla and powdery iris all very masculine. If you already own the EDP and like it you will surely love this. If you don’t own either go for this one: performance is where it differs most from the EDP with more power in projection trail and longevity. Lasts 8+ hours on skin and clothes. An 8-hour trail though it can cause fatigue to the wearer. Projection lasts 3 hours but it doesn’t radiate much; it is for those who come close. More details on my YouTube channel: Rosko Perfumes.
If you want to be a gentleman of substance this is your perfume. Nothing more to add. It is not for disco kids. Advice: to increase longevity and trail apply it to your clothes preferably on a formal waistcoat; it penetrates the fabric even more. It lasted 10 days on my clothes and that is the whole truth.
Batch 5A01 (January 2025) / 200ml: The best in my collection. An intimate aroma a star for romantic dates but also perfect for everyday wear. As a solicitor I seek elegance without overdoing it; its short projection isn’t noisy in the office but the longevity is excellent. The dry down features iris and chestnut as main notes with whisky woods and an amber base; the bergamot is only noticeable at the start. I imagine an evening on a terrace dining on a Scottish whisky well-dressed. Curiosity: the opening smells of a crushed insect (ephemeropteran) you either love it or hate it. Do not buy blindly. Autumn and spring are its seasons; in a freezing winter it lacks punch and in a hot summer it becomes oppressive. Closed spaces are preferred. Longevity 8-9 hours sometimes more but it stays close to the skin to be enjoyed. Strong projection for 1 hour moderate for 2 hours then skin scent. The trail stops being perceived but when you turn your head you feel it. The same as my previous bottle. Thank you Givenchy.
Exquisite perfume from start to finish. Formal and seductive very masculine offering versatility despite its warmth. Ideal for autumn winter and crisp springs. The explosive opening gives way to an intimate scent like a hug. A subtle freshness sensation accompanied by the sweetness of a Scottish whisky velvety and slightly boozy. Then the powdery iris appears (not chalky like Dior Homme Intense) blended with chestnut and benzoin creating a mysterious and elegant floral-gourmand accord. Lasts over 8 hours with contained projection and class. It doesn’t shout; it presents itself with distinction. Perfect for work formal meetings or dates. My favourite in the Gentleman line and the one I use professionally today. If they don’t reformulate it I would buy it again.
My mistake was buying it without trying it. I saw the whisky and the wood and thought ‘it must be good… Come on’, but I had to give it away. After a few minutes of use, my head started to hurt from the strong smell.
There was a moment (more or less when I realised I couldn’t enter a nightclub without back pain) when I understood I needed a different perfume. That’s when Gentleman Reserve Privée came in, and since then it has accompanied me like that reserve whisky that you don’t open often, but you know it’s there to remind you that you’re over 40 and that’s not bad. The first time I tried it, it seemed almost boring. The opening has no intention of impressing, there are no sugary sparks or synthetic notes disguised as freshness. It’s sober, almost flat. And yet, it’s there where it differs from perfumes for kids who still collect sneakers. This one doesn’t seek to charm in the first five minutes. This one plays a different game. Givenchy knows this well, its Gentleman line was born in the seventies as a symbol of refined masculinity and since then has evolved with the times. Reserve Privée is the culmination of that evolution. A perfume that doesn’t ask for immediate attention because it knows it will have it in the dry-down. Quality whisky, woods that smell of seriousness, and a warmth that needs no explanations. One of the most elegant endings one can find. It smells of a briefcase, a heavy crystal glass, and clothes ironed by someone who doesn’t live with their parents. It smells of solvency. It’s ideal for autumn, for those who don’t need to project youth but style. It’s not versatile, not playful, and certainly not for everyone. It’s serious, mature, and a bit distant. And in that distance lies the charm. If you wear it under forty it will look like you’re using your father’s cologne. If you wear it over forty it will look like you’ve finally understood what it means to be a gentleman.
I bought 15 decants on Notino a few days ago to try several perfumes, this was one of them. 24 hours after smelling it I had to order the bottle, simply spectacular.
Givenchy Gentleman Réserve Privée 🍺🍫 What a chivalrous fragrance. It is luxury, elegance, and power in a bottle. From the first spray it transmits personality and masculinity, with an aura of mystery that makes it stand out as something serious and secure. In my collection it lives alongside the heavyweights like Dior Homme Intense or Prada L’Homme. Perhaps that’s why I use it less, not because it’s inferior, but because it plays in the same league as formal perfumes. Nevertheless, every time I wear it I’m surprised by its quality. Also, the bottle is one of the best: compact, elegant, and well-designed. The fragrance opens with woody and spicy notes, soon wrapped in a chocolatey accord. It’s not an artificial or youthful chocolate; it recalls more of a dark, refined chocolate, a Ferrero served with class. The whisky is key: it adds warmth and sophistication, combining with the chestnut which gives a creamy nut texture. The iris is noticeable, though not as dominant as in Prada, but rather adds softness, a powdery and sweet touch with a certain feminine facet. The result is balanced, where the whisky, chestnut, iris, and amber stand out. Its performance is correct: it lasts about 7-8 hours on skin, but the projection isn’t excessive. It leaves a close sillage, ideal for intimate interactions. It’s a perfume to be enjoyed up close. I consider it masculine, with a unisex nuance that allows a woman to wear it with equal elegance. It’s for night, perfect for winter or formal events. Wear a tie or suit: using it casually would be disrespectful. However, it works at a dinner with friends or a night out with a certain formality. On dates it shines: it’s not playful, but serious, direct, and sexy in a mature sense. It projects someone who knows what they want. It’s formal, attractive, and seductive without exaggerating. The price is fair and Givenchy has created one of its best fragrances in recent years. It’s easy to find, so you can try it before buying. Even as a blind buy it’s safe for those who like sweet scents with liquorish nuances. In conclusion, it combines iris, whisky, and chestnut in a sophisticated and elegant composition. Formality made into fragrance, an accessible luxury that demonstrates why Givenchy continues to set the trend. Scent: 10 👃 Originality: 10🌟 Sillage: 7 💨 Projection: 6.5 🔭 Longevity: 9 ⏳ Versatility: 7.5 🔄 Formality: Elegant/Formal
To be honest, I don’t sense the supposed whisky it’s said to bring, but well, it could be that I’m addicted to smelling and drinking whisky (yes, yes, they are different from each other) straight from the bottle. The truth is it’s a very sweet perfume and reminded me a bit of DHI due to the iris, but nothing in common between the two; that said, it is very long-lasting.
A woman with red lipstick in a liquor store. This is a trouble spot for me. When I slid my nose in here, I knew nothing would ever be the same again. Seductive, enigmatic, attractive, and characterful. Are we talking about a perfume? Yes, there’s a cocktail with whisky waiting in the lounge, while in another scene chestnuts are roasting, and you wonder what kind of aroma this is. I’m not entirely sure; it’s that fortified sweetness that seems not to get you drunk but from which you want to keep drinking; sometimes it conveys intimacy or mystery and other times power and dominance. All of this is accompanied by a classic elegance that has little to do with wearing leather shoes or drool. I see it as a perfume for those days when you want to sign something important, to say: here I am, despite all my good and bad decisions. I see it as formal, enveloping, and seductive. Mature and intellectual to equal parts. A delight for perfume lovers.
I was smitten, seriously it smells much more expensive than it costs. The whisky and amber are the bees’ knees.
I’m not an expert when it comes to talking about notes, but it smells like chocolatey whisky with a hint of lipstick; the citrus is very far away in the initial blast, it’s a very rich scent. I’ve received compliments, it lasts quite well, it doesn’t have a huge sillage to flood the room, but people will definitely notice it.
Excellent, spectacular, outstanding. A very good perfume, MUUUUUUUUUUUUUY good perfume. My next purchase is a certainty. I went to try it and the truth is I missed an opportunity by not buying it. Well, at least I took an Azzaro TMW Parfum, but this one stands head and shoulders above it. Masculine, sweet but not overly so, with notes of coffee, chocolate, and whisky. As soon as I have some cash, I’ll buy the 200ml decanter of this Givenchy masterpiece. Not too expensive for what it is, a proper perfumazo.
I tried it today at ECI; a Givenchy sales assistant sprayed it on a tester strip (the assistant didn’t even know which cologne it was, just saying ‘Gentlemans Society’). I can’t handle it; the smell of whisky seems unbearable to me, my nose simply cannot tolerate it. Note, I’m not saying it’s bad; in fact, my wife has loved it, but unfortunately, I am only capable of smelling the whisky, which already puts me off. The rest of the notes are irrelevant because for me, it is overwhelmed by everything. Regards.
I absolutely love it; it’s elegant, masculine, and very striking. Every time I wear it, I get compliments. It’s one of my favourites because if you’re dressed well and elegantly, this gives you that special touch that was missing.
My favourite elegant perfume; this Reserve Privée is beautiful in every way. I cannot imagine a life without it. It is one of those perfumes that embraces you with class, gives you presence, and makes you walk differently. When it runs out, I will replace it. And if it runs out again, I will replace it again, and again, 1000 times.
Very good perfume. It is exquisite. The note I notice most is iris. The others don’t stand out much; it’s more of a sweet iris with a hint of chocolate. It’s a serious perfume that exudes elegance. It is quite long-lasting. The trail is soft and the projection moderate; in the end, it stays close to the skin. In the first few hours, it smells very much like you. It is very pleasant. 8 out of 10 (overall)
I want to start by saying something obvious: this perfume is not for everyone, definitely not a blind buy, and it’s not the type to generate compliments as you walk by like others might, but at least to my taste, it is addictive in a certain way. First, it opens with marked woody notes (this is personal) with a smell similar to chocolate; then it evolves into whisky, which, although marked, leaves space for the other woody notes to shine, creating a unique and recognisable scent for those who know the subject, and in my case, extremely addictive. Aside from the scent, the longevity is good: the top notes last about 15 to 25 minutes and the fragrance develops for another 5 to 9 hours; afterwards, it fades. However, in my opinion, the major drawback is the trail; if you want it to be smelled where you go, you will have to reapply it several times in the same spots, because its trail, although it exists, is very faint. In conclusion, if we talk about scent alone, it is a 10/10, but if we add longevity, trail, and price, it drops to a 9.5/10. Nevertheless, it is an excellent fragrance that deserves respect.
A true delicacy; it smells like a million dollars.
I tried it and it let me down. Let it be clear that I am not a fan of this type of aroma; I prefer sweeter scents. My girlfriend smelled it and didn’t like it at all, and knowing the type of perfumes she likes (at least the ‘model’ style), this doesn’t fit for her compliments. There was a huge hype around this perfume. Unfortunately, it disappointed me because I imagined other notes (I am not a great connoisseur).
The best fragrance for me; there is nothing else like it. Rich, elegant, and reserved.
Not a blind buy, but if you like woody fragrances, in my opinion, there is no better option. I understand it resembles Dior Homme Intense, but this smells richer and has more notes that give it an incredible touch. The only downside is that, in my view, it doesn’t last long and has a weak trail; I’m not sure if it’s my chemistry, but if it lasted longer and had more projection, it would be the perfect perfume.
Five months ago, in the winter in Canada, I was already tired of woody scents, but this always smells elegant, distinguished, and refined. That’s the key: REFINED. Ideal for evening wear, formal settings, and for men with class.
Good perfume with excellent longevity and projection, but it doesn’t blast because it doesn’t need to. It smells of talc with whisky barrel wood and toasted chestnut; very elegant. From a distance, it sometimes smells of baby powder, but to me, it seems very refined; it’s the most refined scent I own. I wore it yesterday in the supermarket and only noticed the longevity, which is very good. It projects for an hour or so, then fades but not to skin-level; you can still smell it with movement. It lasts eight hours on skin and until the next day on clothes. Good performance for what it is: dates and the office in good weather. A very good fragrance, undoubtedly the best in my collection.
This perfume boosts your self-esteem; it’s as if you’re about to fix the world. Okay, joking aside: it’s a respectable man’s scent, maximum status. Pure elegance. Iris, woods and talc, the classic DNA, plus the whisky that gives it a warm, expensive touch. The longevity on clothes is no joke, lasting three days outside. Projection isn’t its strong suit; it lasted two hours on me. Perfect for autumn-winter, formal events and dates. Don’t wear it to the supermarket. It’s eminently nocturnal, though I like it on cloudy days; it projects fabulously. If it had more projection, it would be a bombshell, but it’s one you must have.
Incredible perfume. Very masculine, with that essence of a dominant man who has everything under control. It’s not one of those that can be smelled from a mile away (like the You line by Armani). It’s something personal; it invites you to come closer and ask for a hug or some advice from the person wearing it. It’s elegance in a glass bottle. Almost like the finest whisky. If Tommy Shelby existed, he would wear this perfume 🙂
It reminds me of Hipoglós pomade, but with an elegant touch of iris, chestnut and whisky. I wouldn’t wear it out with my age, but I wish it lasted 50 years so I could take my wife to a refined venue.
There are no words to define this wonder. It’s not for the young or the old; it has a strong presence. I really love the whisky note. This winter was the most I wore it on my dinner outings.
I tried it in a perfumerie and didn’t like it at first, but I knew it was good. Now I love it. That blend of whisky, wood, chestnut and iris is my favourite from the brand and one of my favourite elegant and masculine fragrances. I can’t comment on longevity, but if you’re looking for something mysterious, elegant and masculine, it’s for you.
I wanted Dior Homme Intense, but I tried Reserve Privée and was blown away. It’s not for teenagers, yet it feels more modern and lighter than the Dior. It’s delicious and elegant, perfect for someone in their twenties. I recommend it far more than the Dior, which, while rich, is too dense. This one is pleasant, youthful without losing class.
Some perfumes tell stories, and this one takes you to a cosy refuge in winter. It’s my second bottle and I’m still smitten. It captures the essence of an expensive whisky with woods and chestnut; exquisite. It’s serious, formal and elegant. The longevity is brutal, almost nine hours. If you’re seeking an author fragrance, give it a try. It’s elegance and confidence in a bottle.
Totally worth it for special occasions in autumn or winter. It smells of whisky with a sweet touch, like chocolate. I recommend it 100%.
I sprayed it yesterday and it still smells of chocolate. It smells too much of chocolate, but that’s how it is.
One of the few iris scents that truly hook me. At first, it smells very feminine, but then it turns masculine and I prefer it even more.
