Irresistible Nude Velvet by Givenchy

At first, it smells like expired old makeup, like a messy, dirty drawer. After 10 minutes, it becomes elegant and neat. But I would prefer other options a thousand times over without having to endure that opening note.

I received samples when buying Gentleman Society. Upon spraying, I was pleasantly surprised: a soft, feminine aroma, easy to imagine on a special someone.

What a beautiful perfume. I bought it blindly and it smells as they say, like lipstick. Upon leaving, the almond oil is noticeable, followed by velvety flowers with that sensual ambrette musk. It’s evocative, feminine, like a soft, silky veil. It settles on the skin with divine naturalness. Great work by the perfumers. Hopefully, it doesn’t share the same dry-down as Lipstick On.

It smells like vintage lipstick, like the best burgundy-brown one I used, sticky and pigmented. I’m not sure when to wear it, as Guerlain’s Black already covers that role in my collection, but I am fascinated. Perhaps when the Black and the Nude run out, it will still be there; I will buy it then.

Spraying it, I thought: ‘No, no, no!’ as it smelled like my mum’s 2000s lipstick, but within minutes it transformed into a floral scent. It reminded me a bit of my Idole Intense, then sweetened up, and once it dried down considerably, it bore a strong resemblance to Vie Est Belle. I’m neither sad nor happy; I expected more, but it doesn’t disgust me, so I’ll just use it =)

I compared it to Donna by Valentino, but to my nose, they only resemble each other for the first five minutes. Afterwards, it lacks Donna’s base potency; this is kinder and softer, suitable for everyone. I adore the prominent iris without the rose overpowering it. The base makes it unique: it works for any weather, whereas Donna is autumnal/wintery. Very enjoyable.

I tried a complimentary sample and confirmed it reminds me of lipsticks from years ago. It brought me back to my mother’s makeup. It’s powdery with roses and violets at the start, then becomes sweet (reminded me of Paco Rabanne’s Lady Million). I don’t dislike it, but I wouldn’t buy it. It’s nice for going out, just not my style.

For lovers of sweet and powdery scents: it is captivating, delicate, and evokes youth and nostalgia. It smells like vintage makeup but isn’t old or associated with an older person. Almond and rose dominate. It’s fresh, has good sillage, isn’t cloying or heavy. I still don’t know if it’s for daily wear, but I love it; I’d been searching for something like this for a while.

For lovers of sweet and powdery scents: it’s captivating. It defines delicacy, radiates youth and nostalgia, smelling of old makeup without seeming old. Almond and roses predominate. It’s fresh, with good sillage, without being cloying or heavy. I still don’t know if I’ll wear it daily, but I love it; I’ve been searching for something like this for a while.

Very powdery, too much for my taste. It sounds very far from Irresistible, which I adore. In this flanker, the roses are covered by a ‘layer of makeup’, lacking freshness. Smells like lipstick. It’s not bad, but I wouldn’t buy it.
