As I tell my friends, getting niche or high-end scents in Cuba is a right old mess, so my collection is mostly designer, though there are a few brands I hold in special affection without which perfumery would be a different story. For years, due to economic issues, fragrances here stayed stagnant in shops, making it easier to find old stock or discontinued batches elsewhere. While hunting for rarities for my collection, I came across this 2013 limited edition from Givenchy, which I’ve read was available almost exclusively in duty-free stores. Although I knew it would be very soft for me, I went ahead and bought it; here it is. Honestly, I don’t think it will stay with me as it’s far too delicate. For those who don’t know it, it’s a fruity-floral blend where the opening features a hard-candy or palette-style raspberry, slightly synthetic and not overly sweet, but rather dusted by iris and violet that emerge after a few minutes and accentuate the floral notes. It has a tiaré heart and dries down to a sensual musky base. The projection is extremely low, almost clinging to the skin like a moisturiser, and lasts about two or three hours unless the heat is brutal. While it could be ideal for spring-summer, I believe its best use is at home or for intimate gatherings where you don’t want to stand out too much. I really expected something more exclusive from a limited edition, though it might appeal to some or to a Givenchy collector fan.
What a delicious perfume, very floral. The truth is I don’t detect the raspberry. The only problem is that it doesn’t last very long.
Caviar and raspberry. I don’t like the caviar note in perfumes, so that’s why I wouldn’t buy it.
Ohhh, what a beauty! As soon as the sales assistant misted it onto my skin, I fell in love. Raspberry, violet, it’s incredible. I love it because it’s delicate, subtle, smells like spring and summer from childhood. The only negative is that its trail and longevity are also brief, but I don’t mind; I want it anyway.
