I have the Puig version, and compared to this L’Oreal one, the opening smells more like Dior Homme Intense than the Puig does. Once dried, it smells the same but with less intensity and power. It’s still pleasant, but I prefer fragrances with more strength.

What an exquisite aroma! I was pleasantly surprised. I bought the reformulated Valentino Uomo and liked it, but its performance barely lasted five hours. Here you get performance and more: it’s a delight you must try. Elegant, sophisticated, warm and cosy. Something linear but with constant charm. It’s a balanced iris-leather-vanilla blend, neither cloying nor powdery; the suede leather wraps everything, adding formality. Imagine it as a Dior Homme Parfum without the dirty edge, with added vanilla and tonka bean. Given its density, it’s perfect for elegant night-outs; I wore it to a wedding and projected to two metres for the first four hours. It lasted over 12 hours. I’d recommend it blindly, what a delight!
An elegant and seductive fragrance. Iris dominates at first, then gives way to leather, nutmeg and wood. Ideal for dates and special occasions. Longevity: 8-12 hours. Projection: about five sprays at a metre. Sillage: good. Scent: 9/10. Price: 9/10, it’s worth it.
A reissue-reformulation of the same Valentino Uomo Intense from 2016 that was made by Puig Barcelona, now by the French corporate giant L’Oréal Luxe. It now leans more towards iris-leather perfumes à la Dior Homme (especially the Intense), but without its lipstick note so marked, leaning more towards the pencil tip aroma of Givenchy Gentleman EdP, although this Valentino seems more sweetened by the very present vanillin note. Without being exactly a suede clone like Mercedes-Benz Honorine Blanc Black Leather, Bulgari Men In Black, the Leathers by Ferragamo or the longed-for CH Men Privé, which had a leather note that gave it a nocturnal and wild touch. The leather in this Valentino is very soft, closer to the suede smell of the previous ones than to the hardcore, animal Russian leather of Gucci Guilty Absolute, the TF Tuscan Leather, the No Limits by Philipp Plein or the John Varvatos Dark Rebel Rider, the legendary tight leather of Dior Fahrenheit, nor the luxury shoe leather smell with a faint floral touch of the TF Ombré Leather. All in all, if you like this type of iris-leather fragrance similar to Dior but lighter, more versatile and ‘available’, and you don’t want to pay more than 50 quid for the 50ml, shoot for this. It’s not a beast mode in terms of longevity and quality like the Dior Homme but it’s wai and has an elegant, serious, mature and sexy touch.
My girlfriend gave it to me half-blindly and it has become one of her favourites (and mine). What fascinates me most is that all its notes can be perceived one by one: mandarin opening, leather base and when it settles you can even perceive a tiny bit of chocolate. If you like iris a lot, this is a safe bet. Perfect for formal occasions and cold climates, lasts quite a while and has a considerable trail. For me, a 10/10.
Speaking of Valentino Uomo 2021 and Intense 2021… both are sexy, creamy and elegant. The Uomo is more subtle, refined and noble, with a bright, fresh and spicy opening. The Intense goes for the dark, robust, dense and mysterious, with a sweet, vanilla-based dry down balanced against iris and leather, making it more dynamic and seductive. It’s a perfect pair for almost everything: wear the Uomo by day and the Intense by night. Both revolve around a dusty, elegant, woody iris that is very masculine. They exude class and pure elegance. Ideal for special occasions where you want to make an impression.
Speaking of Valentino Uomo 2021 and Uomo Intense 2021… both are sexy, creamy and elegant fragrances. They differ in that Valentino Uomo is more subtle, refined and noble, with a brighter, fresher and spicier opening, while Valentino Uomo Intense goes for the darker sides, robust, dense and mysterious, giving us a sweet, well-balanced vanilla base alongside the iris and leather that make it more dynamic and seductive. I consider it a perfect combo that covers almost every occasion: we can very well use Valentino Uomo during the day and Valentino Uomo Intense at night. Both revolve around the iris, a powdery, elegant, woody and very masculine iris, perfumes that overflow with class and pure elegance. Ideal for special occasions where you wish to make a presence and impose your personality.
PERFUMON! The great underrated gem. From the very first moment, its refined iris conveys luxury. It feels creamy and sophisticated. The vanilla adds balanced sweetness, while the earthy notes keep it elegant without becoming cloying. Rating: 20/10. Smells like elegant iris with quality vanilla and a masculine earthy base. Makes me feel elegant, confident and sophisticated without effort. For special occasions, important meetings and dates where you want to leave a mark. Recommended age: 35-45, although a younger person can wear it to project maturity. A well-constructed perfume for those seeking distinction.

I’m testing it now and, without wanting to be exaggerated, it has caused me great joy to smell its fragrance again. It’s just as I remember: elegant, slightly mysterious, sensual, with a halo of good taste floating around you. According to experts, there are changes in this new version, but for my mortal nose, this VUI 2021 is very, very good. If you are a fan of Dior Homme Intense or Givenchy Gentleman Eau de Parfum, this will also suit you… and a lot.

If the 2016 version seems too aggressive to you, this reformulated one will be your favourite. It’s more youthful, friendly and soft. By ‘soft’ I don’t mean it doesn’t last; rather, the scent is more amiable, and it lasts an eternity on the skin and projects muuuuuch well. For those who don’t know, the 2016 has a nod to Givenchy 2018, or vice versa, as Givenchy came out much later. Turning off microphone.
Waooo, what a lovely aroma. It’s simply delicious, elegant, sexy and sophisticated. I see it as ideal for dates, dinners or formal meetings in autumn and spring; that perfect balance between iris, vanilla and leather is top. The leather is clean, suede-like, and generally has a fresh touch thanks to the mandarin and the bergamot. Excellent fragrance.
I have the previous version and have just bought this to save some of the Uomo Intense 2016. Although the notes change slightly compared to its predecessor, the scent and performance are almost identical. It’s elegant, sublime and, as expected, also discontinued, a true gem of which unfortunately few units remain.

It is noticeable from the start; the opening is enchanting, rich, exquisite and elegant. I like it more than Dior and Prada: more wearable, attractive, youthful and charming, ideal for dinner with your wife and friends. An opening of mandarin, a citrus wrapped in creamy iris that embraces every note. It is evolving, although it seems the iris wraps everything, like a mother hugging her children. The notes emerge and the iris accompanies them. I think it is masterful. Totally underrated. It’s unbelievable that reviewers throw dirt on its longevity. I have the new one with the cap. I have a collection and do bed tests. I applied it at 00:30 and now it is 11:30; believe me, it still feels intense. It laughs at 90% of commercial scents. Simply wonderful.

It laughs at 90% of commercial scents. Simply MARVELOUS.
