I simply adore blackcurrant notes in perfumes!! And this one is wonderful.
I am not a great fan of woody notes, but wow, this perfume handles them very well, subtly, combined with vanilla and white florals. I have seen many comments stating it resembles Prada Paradoxe, but only in the opening; once it dries down, they take completely different paths.
To my nose, what stands out and perhaps ruins the blend is the overwhelmingly predominant vanilla. It is a lovely fragrance, very sweet, which would be perfect if it were less vanilla-heavy and the woody notes stood out more. It is lovely but at the same time feels heavy. I like it and I don’t 🙁
Youthful. While browsing the perfumery, I spotted a young acquaintance (around 20 or 21) testing fragrances. I asked what she liked and she gave me a tour of the women’s section. I had a wonderful time, noting how excited she was. One of her favourites was this Valentino Donna Born In Roma. Indeed, the opening features cranberries, slightly spiced, which are then coated in the sweetness of so many other offerings (not natural, but intense for my taste). Unfortunately, that sensation somewhat mutes the florals, although the jasmine is perceptible. The wood and vanilla stand out, with the latter deepening the sweetness even further. I understand it may not seem intense to some, but for me, it does. Observing the girl who showed it to me, I was not surprised that it thrilled her; I see it suits very young wearers well (though I notice fragrances often relate more to attitude than age). The longevity and projection are excellent. A very good proposal for night outs, pubs, and so on. I would advise moderation in sprays if planning small indoor gatherings. Perhaps a little pricey for the right audience, but with good value for money. Recommended for young people.
A perfume that reminds me of the ex I loved most in my life.
I absolutely love it! It was love at first sniff. It feels feminine, youthful and sweet without being cloying. I adore it <3.
Perhaps I had high expectations because everyone was talking about it, but it left me wanting more; I thought I would like it better. I detect wood, vanilla and white florals. I preferred the opening over the dry-down; on my skin it transformed into a vintage-style scent with white florals, woody notes and a touch of powder, even leaning slightly masculine, which I didn’t entirely enjoy. It could be worn in the office or at semi-formal events, making you feel elegant and confident. In my view, it suits all seasons except very hot climates. It has a vibe similar to Prada Paradox, although I prefer Valentino. 7.5/10.
Absolutely loveable. I start with ‘loveable’ because it’s the most common term for this perfume, and now that I’ve tested it, I don’t see it as a negative. Obviously, I was drawn in by the hype. There are comments like ‘it’s not much’ or ‘I expected more from Valentino’, and yes, it could be a Bath & Body Works body mist, just like what happened with the flanker Coral Fantasy. Now that I’ve tried it, I understand why people say it’s ‘loveable’; you’ll hardly find anyone who doesn’t get this perfume or find it hard to adapt to. All in all, it hooked me, and I believe alongside the original Donna, both are the winners of the line. My impression: a fresh, sweet opening of bergamot and vanilla, then the vanilla, blackcurrants and woods take over. It’s sweet but sparkling, balanced by the woody notes with white flowers faintly in the distance. It’s youthful yet has depth, super versatile. It reminded me of ‘La Belle’. I stopped wanting to buy it thinking it was too simple, but after testing it, I know I’ll give in soon. A very safe blind buy. Edit: indeed I gave in, it’s gorgeous. Perfect balance between fruity and woody, makes me think of a luxurious shampoo. Beautiful dry-down on fabric. Edit 2: I’ve had it for months and it’s worth letting it mature.
Blackcurrants and pepper, then the jasmine shines with a vanilla touch. Very feminine and sexy. At first, trying it in-store, it didn’t convince me, but buying it online and wearing it on my skin rather than my hand made me fall in love. I feel super feminine with it. It lasts for hours on the skin and much longer in the hair. I adore it; I understand its reputation.
Not worth it at all. It’s a completely generic fragrance, smelling like a lady’s perfume but a younger version. It has a pleasant aroma but doesn’t stand out. It’s far too subtle and, given the price, it falls short. It smells nice and suits almost everyone, but there are many other options on the market that smell better and are cheaper.
To all who write in this chat I wish you a wonderful day. Valentino Born In Roma has marked a before and after by creating this perfume exquisite. It is a work of art bottled as perfume. Truly pure luxury in a bottle. It can convey divine sensations. Its jasmine note is very special intense youthful sexy and elegant all at once. The bourbon vanilla shines creating a halo of exotic sweetness in this fragrance. I love it. It is one of my favourite contemporary perfumes bravo to the creators of this magnificent fragrance they really went above and beyond. I recommend it widely Perfumes and something more… Nahuell
I loved it. It lasts for hours smells delicious is sexy and gets compliments ☺️
When I first smelled it I liked it so much that without thinking twice I went back smelled it again and bought it. For the first few days I enjoyed it but then it became tiresome. I started to find the scent very similar to several perfumes that are merely ‘out because they’re out’ copies of copies offering nothing new. Now when I see it among my perfumes I avoid it; if I give it a chance it bores me again. And no it doesn’t resemble Paradoxe another perfume that is equally a copy of many others and has nothing special about it.
I bought the small bottle spurred on by the hype and after wearing it for the first time I was disappointed and thought it was just a pleasant scent with nothing more to offer. However in my determination to finish it I was surprised to receive compliments every time I wore it with people asking several times what it was and even asking permission to copy my scent…
They’ll say I’m mad, but once this perfume dries down, it smells like By The Fireplace by Replica.
Just managed to catch a whiff of it and was so curious; I must confess I liked it. It’s a very sophisticated scent and I couldn’t stop smelling my wrist. I’d love to have it in my collection but it’s far too expensive what a shame.
I rescued this from the back of my perfume drawer. I have no idea how I managed to go so long without using it. I love the scent (sweet but not cloying), its longevity, and how comfortable it makes me feel. I’ll be wearing it for everyday work and casual outings.
Warning: jasmine overdose. The floral note is extremely intense, overwhelming me and causing headaches. Despite the positive reviews and hype, I tried it several times but simply couldn’t handle it. On the positive side, it feels refined and is very long-lasting. If you enjoy sweet, vanilla-forward oriental florals, go for it!
What a feminine scent! Feminine and cheerful. I prefer it once dried, because at first when sprayed it feels very acidic on my skin. Then… WHAT A MARVELLLLLL! Totally softened white flowers with vanilla. I love it!
At first I find it synthetic and generic, but in the dry-down it evolves hugely for the better 😍. It feels super woody, adds elegance, and those fruits with vanilla make it super sexy. I like it hugely ❤️🔥, I’d repurchase and it’s a safe blind buy, very giftable 💖.
Every time I tried it, it won me over more. It’s generic but does the job, offering something for everyone and most women will like it. Scent: 9/10, the jasmine and pepper are noticeable even with a stuffed nose or runny snot, giving a proper kick to the nasal passages. Versatility: 9/10, though I have a feeling I wouldn’t wear it on a very hot day. Performance: so far 8/10, it softens quickly but I’ve never tested it for many hours without a shower. Overall rating: 9/10. Would I buy the bottle? Most likely yes. Its profile and versatility have it on my wishlist. Update: on a blotter that seemed soaked in fragrance (I like to test it several times as the perception changes), it smells just like one ten times cheaper that I know; I don’t know if this will change my opinion…
Finally tried it with a sample. I saw all the hype and the notes, expecting something more feminine and floral, but I found something super masculine. What I notice most from start to finish is the wood, very penetrating; I even thought it had oud. On the dry-down, although the notes don’t say so, I sense something herbaceous, like lots of patchouli. Maybe it’s my skin; perhaps I detect the jasmine, but very in the background. I like the scent, but more on a man. Don’t buy it blind unless you like very woody and herbal fragrances.
I love it! I already reviewed it when I got it and I’m saying it again: buy a decant and wait for the final dry-down. It’s gorgeous, feels like silk. I can’t describe that woody note better than to say it’s silky, soft, like your hair, skin and nails haha. I love it on the first day or more.
Sweet, sparkling and balanced. I find it super versatile and youthful.
It’s the feminine perfume that wins everyone over. Floral without being heavy, sweet without being cloying, not childish but fun, elegant yet subtle, fresh without being citrusy. That rebellious yet charming bottle is my favourite. It has a complex but easy duality: strength and lightness, coquettishness and power.
My favourite: sweet, fresh and super versatile. Everyone asks me about it.
I love it! As soon as you apply it, you smell the blackcurrant strongly, that fruity side alongside the vanilla that lingers throughout. Then the jasmine appears, which I adore, and the dry-down (my favourite part) where the fruit fades and the woods emerge. Spectacular, suitable for everything and very wearable; I always receive compliments.
Smells great, but for me it’s like polyester: keeps you fresh in summer and warm in winter XD. I’d rather own several Green Extravaganza or Extradose bottles than buy just this one.
Floral, fresh and sweet in just the right measure, perfect for everyday wear. Versatile and feminine. The jasmine, blackcurrants and a vanilla base make it incredible. Lasting power is very good.
I detect a ripe, acidic red fruit, but it doesn’t seem like a defined fruit. It reminds me of strawberry, the smell of strawberry artificial flavouring—very well done but still artificial. And a spiced musk. I like it once the Guaiac wood comes into play; I haven’t heard it much other than in the By The Fireplace Replica. And only once, a year ago. I must admit Marc O’Polo has a point, but I always remember By The Fireplace with the chestnut. This one is fruitier and muskier, with the aftertaste of that wood uniting these two aromas along with the vanilla. The dry down is beautiful; every time I smell it and spray it on the dry down, I’m resting, having reached the heart of the perfume (I have a small sample) and was reading about cashmere—I think it’s a musky wood. It smells of those two woods with the vanilla, and I love the dry down. The opening is good, with that musk making it fun. I’d buy it but only when I can get my favourites. But the bottle is very beautiful and so is the interior, and I do note something green, subtle sweet-acidic, woods and subtle vanilla. It’s very rich. Best wishes.
At first, it overwhelms with blackcurrant, pepper and bergamot. Sweet but not overpowering. Then it settles into vanilla and wood. Ideal for projecting elegance without losing femininity. Spoiler: I gifted it to my mother.
When I tried it at Macys, I loved it, fell in love, and thought it would be my favourite perfume. However, that year, right during the Christmas season when it was all the hype, more than one person wore it wherever I went, which made me lose interest. I bought it months later in the smaller version and felt there wasn’t quite the hype; there’s one note that doesn’t quite suit me as I find it slightly dizzying and smells a bit soapy. I’ve had it for two years now and it’s still nearly full.
Highly recommended; my girlfriend wears it and it’s one of the most pleasant and easy-to-please scents: sweet, fresh, and clean, with a woody touch combined with a very well-crafted vanilla—nothing heavy, easy to enjoy, a great perfume!
A delicate and feminine scent. I tried it in a store and fell in love. I applied it to my wrist, and even after three days, my watch still retains the aroma, mainly the vanilla note with a light touch of jasmine. I loved it from the opening all the way through to the dry down.
I absolutely love it—it’s super delicious, woody yet with a sweet touch, very pleasant. The longevity is excellent, around 6 hours, and the sillage is moderate.
This perfume has become my new signature; definitely a hit to wear during the day for any occasion. The opening feels sparkly with blackcurrant and a hint of bergamot freshness, opening up to reveal vanilla and wood; the dry down I’d describe as elegant wood with traces of jasmine combining with the sweetness of vanilla. Personally, I adore it—it’s very feminine and makes me feel clean and empowered. 💝
Ideal for going out at night.

A feminine and youthful fragrance, perfect for summer. Medium longevity and moderate sillage. A good option for gifting; it’s not overpowering.
A nice perfume for those new to the world of fragrances. Nothing special about it, really; the bottle is the only standout. In my opinion, it lacks a bit of acidity, citrus, or punch. As it is, I wouldn’t buy it myself; I have a 10 ml vial to try, but it hasn’t surprised me or caught my attention. It doesn’t resemble Paradoxe at all; Paradoxe has that orange blossom finish that lingers until the end, making it far more appealing. Without a doubt, from that range, I’d stick with Paradoxe Intense.
