I think it’s a very good perfume, ideal for winter and especially for the evening. The vanilla is in just the right measure and doesn’t make it heavy at all.
I think it’s a very good perfume, ideal for winter and especially for evening wear, as it has just the right amount of vanilla so it doesn’t feel heavy.
In my opinion, the best gourmand in the world, a true delight. I’m going to use it forever.
To me, it is the best gourmand in the world, a true delight that I will always wear.
I agree with the previous reviewer: the best gourmand in the world. Smells like makeup with chocolate. Exquisite, simply exquisite, in my TOP 5.
I agree with the previous reviewer: it is the best gourmand in the world. It smells like chocolate-laden makeup. It is exquisite, simply exquisite, and it ranks in my TOP 5 🙂
A complex fragrance with several phases. True that at first it reminds you of makeup and lipstick, but after a few minutes, I detect leather and blood. Many label it as feminine due to the top notes, but it becomes much more robust towards the end. A jewel, not suitable for untrained noses.
For a reason, reviews are good, right? Makeup with chocolate? That’s not for me, what a masculine aroma.
That’s why reviews are good; ‘makeup with chocolate’? That’s not for me, what a masculine aroma!!!
“Love, love, love. Born from you, born from me, born from hope”.
A fragrance for refined palates. Very seductive, with a feminine touch, but truly a delight. Recommended for winter, at night, and for formal events. Lasts over 12 hours and its trail is potent.
I’m surprised; it smells like lipstick. I’m sure many women would love for their men to smell like this. It could almost be used by both sexes. It’s a great creation, but it’s not for me.
At this point, I’m not sure if perfumes have a gender or if we should just follow classic trends… But this one has stolen my heart; it’s exquisite. It has that classic, dark touch that makes it incredibly sophisticated. Smells like cosmetics and bitter chocolate. Perfect for dressing up and going to special occasions. I absolutely love it.
I bought it recently. The first time I put it on my skin, I smelled a strong whisky note, but I didn’t know where it was going. A miracle happened: it’s an exquisite scent. I recommend it 100%.
Gourmand, unisex, and with powdery traits that give it elegance, recognition, and authority. The iris from start to finish, with a powerful vanilla opening that moves to a rich, almost juicy amber body, and ends in a delicate cedar base. I see it as ideal for galas, in the style of Declaration d’Un Soir Intense. I’d lean towards it for three reasons: 1. I’ve heard many gourmands and I’m tired of vanilla. 2. I don’t want to please; I want to seduce and drive my partner crazy. 3. D’Un Soir has a masculine base despite being a rose scent. It’s not for every occasion, only for special moments where you want to stand out (smelling femininely like Bleu or L’Nuit) with a bespoke suit.
This review is about the pre-reformulation Dior Homme Intense from 2011. From the start, you notice the talcum-powdered iris with the creaminess of vanilla and very present woods. Gradually, the woody base loses strength and the iris-vanilla-amber combo takes over. Here I notice more differences with the current version: it’s more amber, creamy, and balanced. The notes are sharper and of better quality. The dry-down is vanilla and powdery, but without that lipstick sensation of the current version. It performs better and longer than the new one. The projection is notable, to the point where people comment on the perfume without me asking. It lasts over eight hours. It’s very elegant for winter and masculine, although I know it can be worn by women or smell feminine. The dry-down would be unisex. I don’t see it on a woman due to the woody base at the start. The differences with the 2014 version are small, but this vintage version wins handily for its creaminess and sharpness. Pity its price online.
This is the Dior Homme Intense version from before the 2011 reformulation. At first, it smells of talc and iris with that creamy vanilla note that everyone loves, and the woody notes are very prominent. Over time, the woody base mellows and the iris-vanilla-amber combination takes over; this is where I notice the biggest differences from the current version. To me, this feels more ambered, creamier, and with sharper, better-balanced notes than the new one. On my skin, as it dries down, it becomes very vanilla and powdery, yet without that distinct lipstick-like edge found in the current version. It lasts longer than usual and performs better than the new version, which is still quite good. The projection is notable; I’ve been asked about the perfume several times without even mentioning it, which happens rarely. The longevity easily exceeds eight hours. I see it as very elegant for winter and men’s wear, although I know online people say it smells feminine or that women wear it; that’s a matter of personal choice, but the woody opening makes me view it as masculine. The drydown could certainly be unisex. I absolutely loved it. I own the 2014 version, and the truth is, unless you’re an expert, it will smell the same to most people, but I can detect the subtle differences that make one superior to the other. Its greater creaminess and sharpness mean this vintage version wins handily against its younger sibling, plus it lasts longer. The only downside is its price online.
Like in art or cinema, it’s all about selling and being pretty without personality. When looking for something different, you return to your roots and the classics. This is one of them: talcum-powdered, iris, feminine, dark, and attractive. It doesn’t seek you out; you seek it. It’s not sugary like 90% of today’s offerings.
It’s identical to what they say: a makeup scent. I don’t like it. Perhaps I’ll appreciate it one day, but for now, it has no place in my collection. It’s about feeling good, and honestly, I don’t want to smell like makeup.
It was brilliant, very, very, very good!
Love at first sniff. That iris, only Dior knows how to work it with perfect vanilla and an amber that rounds everything off. I’m a fan of the Dior Homme line, but with special affection for the Intense; it only needs a fresh day and formal attire to be perfect. Projection and longevity are high but not overpowering. Recommended 100%. I think every perfume lover should own the Intense and the old Parfum.
I deleted my first review from 2013 because I was confused with other bottles and didn’t want to tarnish my reputation. Today, a decade later, I agree with the majority: it’s a fragrance that women absolutely love. In stores, when I ask which men’s perfumes they like, they almost always mention this Dior Homme family.
The first review I wrote for this fragrance (from 2013) was deleted because I had a mistaken impression, a confusion between bottles, and I didn’t want to do my reputation or my memory a disservice, as I use my reviews as an olfactive log to guide my purchases and rankings. Now, a decade later, I agree with most reviews here. It is a fragrance whose scent women adore. In shops, I usually ask the female assistants which male perfumes they like, doing so in a confidential tone, and almost always they include this Dior Homme family, and by extension, this fragrance.
I’d been wanting to try this original formula for years to understand the later versions. At Dior, the formula code matters more than the year. My bottle from late 2010 smells 99% identical to the 2007 one. The real change happened afterwards, in 2013. Since then, with every reformulation, it has lost its power and density. It’s no longer that amber, creamy scent; now it smells dry, flat, and iris/cedar-like. It’s been a catastrophe since 2020. It’s not worth paying ridiculous prices for the silver collar version when it smells the same as the older ones, which can still be found.
It was one of the best batches until the 2022 release, and from then on, everything went downhill.
