  • Personally, I didn’t like it. The base smells like a designer or fashion fragrance, which gives it longevity but, for me, it smells unpleasant. That sweet chemical scent found in perfumes like Megamare, Paco Rabanne or Carolina Herrera—could it be norlinbanol? It also seems to have a soapy note, perhaps neroli or petit grain. For those who enjoy such things, they might prefer this ‘remix’ over the original. Miao😊

Arancia La Spugnatura by Acqua di Parma. A limited edition featuring Sicilian vanilla orange. The essence is extracted by rubbing the peel on a sea sponge, a millennial art mastered by few. For this Blu Mediterraneo fragrance, they have rescued the spugnatura, a unique manual process. Few artisans in Italy know how to do this with such mastery. The process: cut the fruit, remove the pulp with the cavatore, press the peel onto the sponge to draw out the oil, and squeeze it into terracotta. From 100 kilos of fruit, only 300g of essence are obtained. François Demachy has added mandarin, bitter almond and black pepper. The bottle is hand-painted blue porcelain decorated with white, orange and gold motifs. It is made in a plaster mould, poured by hand, rotated, dried for 30-40 minutes, unmoulded, polished, enamelled and baked for 8 hours to achieve the intense blue.

  • Arancia la Spugnatura from the Blu Mediterraneo line is citrusy, spiced and woody. The opening features a very natural and pleasant orange, typical of the line, with spicy and herbal touches. Then comes the woody, musky base that adds body, yet it always remains light. Ideal for daytime, outdoors, spring and hot summer days. It doesn’t last long on me, a maximum of 6 hours and almost always close to the skin. I recommend it for the scent, but not for the price and poor performance. Others in the line last longer and smell just as well, if not better. Try them if you can find them.

  • Beautiful bottle and top-notch aroma; you can tell it’s a quality brand. However, like most, it lasts very little. In under an hour, it becomes intimate only, staying close to the skin. For the price, the longevity is a disaster; you have to apply a lot to reach six hours, and there’s no projection. It’s for people with money who don’t mind if it doesn’t last.

The most realistic orange scent I’ve tried in years; nothing compares. What a pity it’s a limited edition. It’s a breeze of fresh oranges on a Sicilian hillside near the sea. Pure Italian elegance. 10/10.
