Gris Dior by Dior

Smells fantastic. Took me a while to realise what it reminded me of: Puig’s Azur, which is worth ten times the price and shares the same notes.

Dior Grey is elegant, beautiful, yet simple; it’s not the kind of perfume that turns heads and projects little. It evokes a grey day, rainy and cold… Its notes don’t deceive, though on my skin what stands out most is the oakmoss, sandalwood, cedar, and a touch of patchouli—not the strong one from Mugler, but a shy, elegant one. The rose and amber don’t hit me as much, and the bergamot only adds a spark at the start. I repeat, it’s simple but exquisite, proving you don’t need to be overwhelming to be a great fragrance. I see it more for spring, autumn, and winter, but also in summer; it could be a signature scent. I see it as totally unisex; I feel super feminine with it, but if a man wore it, it would give him confidence and an air of high society. People compare it to Bottega Venetta, which is also elegant, but in my opinion, they’re not alike. Sometimes when two perfumes share a note, like oakmoss, everyone says ‘it’s similar to X’, just as if it has cherry, they say ‘it’s similar to Lost Cherry’. Let each person judge; every nose is a world. But even though they share that mossy scent, they follow different lines.

Perfect under a light rain: impeccable, restrained and with silent class. It’s rose-y but without cheap romance, more like a wet petal than an anniversary bouquet. There’s moss, patchouli and a woody base that supports it like marble columns: cool, elegant and immovable.

Super addictive, smells very sexy. In the dry-down, after six hours, I find a lot of similarity with Rochas L’Homme, a fragrance that isn’t talked about much.

To me it’s a masculine fragrance; it looks beautiful on my husband’s skin, but he says it’s feminine 😂. It lends itself to free interpretation, but I hold the view that it’s masculine because when I close my eyes I imagine a handsome, wealthy man playing golf on a Sunday with it. To clarify, it’s extraordinary on both men and women.

It’s very lovely, pretty and delicate; it makes me feel like a little doll. Although it’s unisex, it leans feminine and makes me think of rose and purple. It reminds me of YSL’s Parisine due to the predominance of the rose, but it’s superbly balanced with the moss and a touch of citrus. I have 10ml and although I like it, I’m not sure I’d spend on the big bottle because it hardly projects or lasts, and for a personal enjoyment fragrance I wouldn’t pay that much.

Correcting my previous note: my nose was saturated. After wearing it for several days, I can confirm it’s a gem—elegant and versatile. Once I finish this bottle, I’ll definitely buy it again in a larger size 😉👌🏻🙌🏻

I received it yesterday, and although I know it’s genuine as I bought it in-store, I don’t quite feel that way. Perhaps it’s causing olfactory fatigue, or simply it’s not my thing. 😯🥹 I’ll keep testing it for a few more days 🥲

At first, it smells like Narciso Rodriguez with floral touches, then it shifts to something purple, reminiscent of Dioramour but less cloying. I imagine it would suit a woman in pastel colours in person. I like it, but I wouldn’t wear it much; it feels too sweet and girly, like fresh pink roses from childhood. I wouldn’t buy more than 5ml; I can’t see an occasion for it. Very sweet.

Dior Grey is one of the most beautiful chypres I’ve ever smelled. I’d read it was about ‘light and shadow’ and now I understand. It opens citrusy and sparkling, then moves into a fresh, powdery rose with violet or iris. The base is a creamy blend of sandalwood, patchouli, and oakmoss; it smells like earth wet with rain. It’s not sweet—it’s floral, earthy, aromatic, and clean. Formal, elegant, and versatile. Unisex, though I think it leans more towards women. Moderate projection for the first hour, then intimate; lasts about 4–5 hours, maybe 6 at most. I know it lasts over 8 hours on others, so try it on your own skin. In summary: a lovely, quality scent, but average performance on me and a high price. For now, I’m not taking it.

Curiously, it evokes a spring rainy day for me—grey but soft, caressing us without the chill. It opens citrusy and sparkling, then settles into a modern chypre with rose and plenty of oakmoss. That’s why I perceive an ozonic touch. The trail is low and fades quickly; it lasts at most 3–4 hours. It’s unisex, ideal for resting your nose or for work, but it stays very subtle on me. If Bottega Veneta is similar but more potent, I’d lean towards that. I don’t know what’s wrong with Dior’s exclusive line; most don’t meet my expectations, especially not at this price. Scent 6/10, Longevity 3/10, Sillage 6/10, Value for money 2/10, Versatility 5/10, Packaging 7/10. Would I buy again? No.
