I would buy it again if I could get my hands on it. It’s an accessible price for excellent quality that smells delicious and stands out from other florals. On my skin, the rose, amber, sandalwood, and patchouli dominate, accompanied by incense, iris, and a touch of violet. Those final notes and the patchouli give it the depth that makes it unique: a ‘smoked’ rose, feminine and sensual. I imagine it on women who sing, write poetry, or play instruments, rather than just being seen. On fresh, damp days after the rain, I would have loved to wear it with me.
It’s a complicated marvel to find, a jewel both for its essence and its packaging.
If you want it, it’s now available on Amazon in its new presentation; it’s an absolute jewel of perfumery.
I spent years searching for that elusive rose, the one everyone spoke of with reverence but no one could ever truly own. Finally, after maturing, it appeared out of nowhere: a complex, twisted rose that demands curiosity and patience. It begins intact and sweet, with a peony touch that makes it wearable, but evolves quickly into something earthy and smoky, as if the night had narcotised its petals. The iris and patchouli give it character without overpowering it, while the sandalwood keeps it subtle, nothing animalic. It doesn’t shout; it moves softly and mysteriously, losing strength if it were any stronger. It reminds me of 80s chypres and perfumes like Agent Provocateur or Creed, but with its own distinct seal. A difficult beauty that was worth the wait.
