  • Deja Vu evokes magical colour, fashion, and the 80s boom. It is very original and noticeable. A realistic pink fruity gum, well-balanced and without anything synthetic. But it evolves into something more than childish gum: first a raspberry in chewing gum that fades quickly to give way to iris, the predominant flower. As it dries, it becomes something with an animal leather touch, without losing the fun and fruity part, which reminds me of sweet, powdery violets, slightly musky. A seductive, adult gum is perceived in the background. It is not just gum; it is a complex and original fusion. It could be unisex, perhaps leaning towards the feminine, and is attractive even to a young audience. Ideal for fresh or rainy days, or for the hot summers to come. I also wear it at night 🌜. Longevity and trail are magnificent.

The opening is brutal: an exalted lollipop with crackling arcane magic, steam, and the crackle of lightning. This is what the trickster mode of Homestuck smelled like. As the heart enters, the fruit softens and dominates the salon atmosphere: hot water tickling your scalp and the noise of dryers. Ticklish, like mana flowing through the fingers. I thought I hated sticky musks, but this has opened my eyes. It reminds me of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. As it dries, it loses a bit of the magic, but that stormy humidity remains hidden amongst the pink dust.

Another rare piece from Teo Cabanel that misses the mark; at first it smells of strawberry gum and you think ‘this promises well’, but in a jiffy it turns plasticky, almost like petrol, and nothing pleasant. If they wanted something different, they got it, but originality doesn’t always mean good. Total disappointment, a failure, and above all, weird, weird.
