I absolutely love it; I’m totally smitten. It’s as if Guerlain’s Insolence had its violet notes toned down and everything rounded off. What a pity about the price—it’s a real bargain for the face.
A violet bonbon with a somewhat intense pink pepper and a raspberry so sweet at first that it’s a bit overwhelming; in fact, it seems sweeter than Insolence, as if it has sugar in it. Gradually, that sweetness balances out to transition into a more powdery phase thanks to the violet, orange blossom, and heliotrope; this stage is my favourite. The almond note went unnoticed by me. In the end, it leaves a feminine, powdery, and sweet fragrance on the skin, with a moderate trail and long-lasting durability.
Sweet, powdery violets with a lovely touch of orange blossom. To me, it’s like blending a classic vintage with an Insolence-style violet and a sugary orange blossom reminiscent of Oriana… resulting in a floral, sweet scent, yet more delicate and less artificial on my nose. Feminine, versatile, floral but with gourmand touches that keep it youthful. Undoubtedly sweet, but after two hours on the skin the sweetness mellows and becomes more wearable. It never overwhelms me… though perhaps best avoided on very hot days. Lasts 7–8 hours on skin with moderate projection and trail. I liked it a lot, though not enough to buy it.
Meh… powdery and sweet violets. It gives a retro vibe. It’s in the same realm as Celeste, but Celeste is far more interesting, lasts longer, and projects better. I’ll definitely go for Celeste.
A very feminine perfume, notably powdery, where the sugared violet is the star. I also detect faint fresh white floral airiness, presumably orange blossom. The almond and heliotrope are noticeable in the mid-phase, but from my experience they don’t persist or make it smell like almond. The raspberry comes in at the start but isn’t a standout component. I’d wear it any time of year, preferably during the day. The violet and amber are very noticeable once dried. If you like floral, airy, sweet, and powdery scents, this will conquer you. It’s not the same as Kilian’s Love don’t be shy or Parfums de Marly’s Oriana, but it follows the same ‘pretty girl’ line. It has a wide trail at first, then becomes moderate and discreet; lasts about 7 hours on skin. I enjoyed the experience. It stays in my collection because I believe it offers originality—it’s not identical to any of the comparisons, even if it shares nuances. Of the two new SORA DORA releases, I’d definitely choose JANY.
