  • I was gifted a sample. I don’t know much about Polo Red Intense, but it’s one of those masculine fragrances that, to my taste, stand out among mass-market scents and those that smell like deodorant. To begin with, the opening of the Dunhill is so much more elaborate than the Polo’s! It’s glorious! Sweet yet fresh, and the first two hours are incredible. The citrus juice of blood orange or grapefruit is wrapped in the floral of cypress wood, a combination I haven’t smelled many times. Then the cypress with vetiver dominates and becomes drier. But now (I applied it at 9:30 and it’s 12:30) soft, powdery accords emerge, making it less astringent. I like it. I’m a woman, and I’d wear it without prejudice.

How do I explain it? Dunhill Desire Extreme isn’t what you’d expect; the bottle looks like the Red and will confuse you, but it smells totally different. The Red is sweet, like Thallium, nothing like this Polo Red Intense which is coffee and sweet. This is pure leather and surprises you when you spray it: dark and spiced, it reminded me of Van Cleef’s leather. It projects strongly and spiced, but the citrus grapefruit softens it. Although there are no spices in the pyramid, they’re felt, surely from the saffron. At the base, patchouli and vetiver. It’s original, moderate projection (a plus) and lasts 8 hours. Note: very young people won’t love it, but if you’re over 30 and no longer want to smell like a bakery, seeking maturity, distinction and respect, this is your option. Scent 8, Projection 7, Longevity 8, Price 10.

  • As a loyal fan of the original, I hesitated to try this version due to the hype, but I eventually picked it up on sale and it’s now a staple in my collection. Don’t be misled by the ‘Extreme’ label; it’s not extreme at all. It smells different but retains the same versatility. The opening is fresh, citrusy, and fruity, a tribute to the mother scent. Then it transforms completely: it becomes more mature and characterful, yet light and pleasant. It’s a blend of leather, patchouli, and amber with green notes of cypress and vetiver. In the dry down, it settles into a well-balanced mix of patchouli, leather, and amber. The longevity is good, around five or six hours, making it versatile for any occasion. If you like Desire for a Man, you’ll surely enjoy this. For me, it’s like mixing 40% The Secret Temptation, 40% Colors Man Black, and 20% of the original. Ready to wear.

  • Being a loyal fan of its parent fragrance, I was slow to get to know this version, not due to lack of interest, but because of the hype. In the end, I picked it up on offer in 100ml, and from that day it’s an undisputed all-rounder in my collection. Don’t let yourself be fooled by the ‘Extreme’ tag, because there’s nothing extreme about it; it’s a scent similar to the original in versatility, perfect for all situations. The opening recalls the parent: fresh, citrusy and fruity with a sweet touch. Then it changes completely: it becomes more mature and characterful, yet light and pleasant. It’s a blend of leather and patchouli with sweet amber tones, refreshed by green notes of cypress and vetiver. At the end, only patchouli, leather and amber remain, all balanced. Performance is good, 5 or 6 hours on skin, moderate trail that fades progressively. It’s not extraordinary, but it adds versatility for any time or season. If you like Desire for a Men, you’ll surely like this. It’s like a cocktail: 40% The Secret Temptation, 40% Colors Man Black and 20% Desire for a Man. Ready to use!

  • Exactly as @William Aguierre described, but with less longevity. On my skin, it lasts between four and five hours.

Hello, does anyone own this fragrance and know if it smells very much like The One Gold by Dolce & Gabbana? Your advice would be a huge help.

As a fan of the rare and beautiful in Desire For A Man, I’ve been curious about the Extreme for years, especially for its promising notes and that intense red bottle with a super elegant matte black cap. Dunhill is gaining ground thanks to Icon, but the Desire collection often goes unnoticed; however, its fragrances have nuances that aren’t as repetitive as usual. Perhaps that’s why it’s hard to find here, but I finally got it on sale and I’m glad I added it to my collection. The opening is very pleasant, more energetic than the original, with a candied honey note reminiscent of the first, but without that androgyny. The blood orange gives a warmer, fruity sweetness, accompanied by bergamot and saffron that create a cosy atmosphere. Then, as those notes settle, the wildness of cypress and clary sage emerges, giving way to a surprising leather, a bit dirty, with a base I didn’t expect. The longevity is short, around 5 or 6 hours, but since I like it so much, it doesn’t bother me. It’s more mature and masculine, yet still friendly. The notes blend brilliantly, making it perfect for everyday wear without being restrictive. If you like the original, you’ll love this. Recommended: 8.5

As a fan of the charm and rarity of Desire For A Man, I felt curious about its Extreme version since it was announced, especially due to the declared notes and the design of the red bottle with a matte black cap. Dunhill is gaining popularity with Icon and its flankers; the Desire collection, often overlooked, offers non-repetitive nuances. Perhaps due to low demand, it’s not easy to find, but I finally found it at a good price. Its opening is pleasant, energetic and slightly confit, with familiar echoes to the first Desire, but without its androgyny. The blood orange gives a warm fruity sweetness, accompanied by bergamot and saffron that add warmth. Then, as those notes fade, the scent mutates towards the wild tones of cypress and clary sage, giving way to a surprising leather note, slightly ‘dirty’, with unexpected companions. Performance: I’d like it to be better, it’s pleasant but short on skin, 5 to 6 hours, consistent for the first 3. Knowing the original, it’s not a problem. It’s subtly more mature and masculine, yet friendly. The notes interlace synergistically. It’s a safe daily use bet because it’s non-restrictive. For fans of the first Desire, it’s a sure treat. Recommended. Rating: 8.5.
