I loved this perfumery wonder. I don’t consider it feminine at all; it’s a cologne very much in the style of 4711, a delicious citrus cocktail. But I have a big doubt: does it last so little as to disappear before an hour, even as a skin scent? They sprayed it twice on my forearm and… it lasted so little.

  • Cologne Imperiale defines the name of cologne very well: classic style, fresh, light, citrusy and herbal. It’s ideal after a shower or for daytime outings, giving lots of energy. The catch is it lasts very little, common in colognes, though I noticed it for up to 4 hours. The only way to prolong it is to reapply, which makes it finish sooner. If you’re looking for a good cologne by scent, it’s a very good option. Although it’s for women, I think it’s more unisex.

The price in department stores is ridiculous. I got it by luck during an online offer for just $430 MXN. Previously I smelled it at $1,850 and loved the scent, but the price was excessive for an AC that disappears as quickly as an episode of Malcolm in the Middle. Citrus notes are its strength, but I sense hints of rosemary and citron; the latter smells like maguey infusions or distillates. The dry-down is scarce but rich, smelling of wet earth just as rain begins. It’s revitalising, attractive, serious yet casual. It doesn’t last more than three hours and the trail doesn’t reach an outstretched arm. It deserves a place in the wardrobe and is a fresh delight for oneself and for whoever is on your shoulder. Honestly, I wouldn’t pay more than $35 USD. I’ll use it cautiously so as not to drain it so soon, hehe.

To start, the price in department stores is ridiculous. I grabbed it on an online deal for 430 pesos, but previously I smelled the full version at 1,850 pesos and it seemed excessive for a cologne that disappears as fast as a Malcolm in the Middle episode. Citrus notes are its strength, but I detect hints of rosemary and citronella; the latter smells like infusion grass or agave distillates. The dry-down is scarce but rich, smelling of wet earth just when the first rain falls. It’s revitalising, attractive, serious yet casual. As it’s a cologne, it doesn’t last more than three hours and the trail doesn’t go beyond an outstretched arm. For what I paid, it deserves a spot in the wardrobe and is a fresh delight for oneself or someone on your shoulder. Honestly, I wouldn’t pay more than $35. I’ll go cautiously so as not to drain it, hehe.

I’m silly for taking so long to discover this Guerlain gem. I know it doesn’t last long and the trail is barely skin-deep, but as a cologne, I forgive that discretion because it smells delicious. It’s savoury and comforting; without a doubt, Cologne Imperiale is one of the best ACs I’ve tried, reminding me of romance. Long live this 160-year-old fragrance!

To be honest, I took a long time to discover this Guerlain jewel. I know its longevity is low and the trail is almost skin-scent, but as a cologne I forgive that and it smells wonderful. It’s savoury and comforting, undoubtedly one of the best colognes I’ve tried, reminding me of romance. Long life to Cologne Imperiale, 160 years and counting.

An absolute classic. A friendly cologne suitable for the whole family, surviving current trends with loyal customers. It’s for those who don’t want to stand out and remain unnoticed, just to smell good and clean. Starts with an effervescent citrus opening of bergamot and a woody touch, evolving into a luminous Mediterranean neroli that lasts several hours but the bottle empties quickly. You have to reapply often. It lacks good longevity, ideal for daytime with an informal style, a healthy and neat look. Once feminine, now for everyone. It relaxes me and I use it at home. It’s expensive, for elitist cologne connoisseurs, but a classic that never dies.

  • Not my favourite fragrance, very similar to 4711 but with lesser longevity. Its price is quite higher than 4711’s, so it’s not worth investing in. For me, it was a disappointment, as I bought it blindly.

  • I didn’t like it much. It smells very similar to 4711 but lasts even less. Plus, the price is far too high without being worth it, so for me it was a disappointment buying it blind.

  • An empress’s perfume. Legend says it was made for Eugénie de Montijo to ease her migraines; its soft citrus and floral scent truly helps, as headaches don’t tolerate sweet perfumes. The bottle is gorgeous, worthy of an empress or a Wild Hearts Like Mine Monica in her embroidered nightgowns over summer. The downside is it doesn’t last long and is pricey, but 4711 is similar and cheaper. Designed 162 years ago and still alive, just like art.

  • Super fresh and invigorating neroli cologne. Smells of natural citrus with a fruity orange note reminiscent of orange blossom or lemon drizzle cake. It’s pure soft tenderness, a classic Guerlain wonder for ever.

  • Fresh Neroli cologne. It’s pure soft tenderness, super refreshing and tonifying. A citrus aroma with a natural, fruity orange touch that evokes orange blossom or custard cream. A timeless wonder, forever by the hand of Guerlain.
