A historical jewel of mint and lemon cologne, brutally refreshing. Imagine it was pitcher water in summer; you’d drink it all. That mix of mint, basil and lemon is a rich and tonic explosion. Oh my, what a vintage find! Eau de Guerlain is a treasure I didn’t know existed. It opens with lemon, bergamot, mint, and basil; although it has 17 notes, these are the ones that matter. It’s an eau de toilette to start the day, yet lasts over seven hours with a powerful trail. I found a batch from ’98 and it smells so fresh and welcoming. Plus, it’s unisex. Launched in 1974 for use in the heat. A delight!

Although Guerlain is on the label, it’s a baby cologne, vulgar and commonplace. Only at the end, as it dries, might it recall Guerlinade, but what a shame for over 100 euros. I’m a fan of Guerlain, but this is a rip-off.
EAU DE GUERLAIN, a forgotten masterpiece. Beneath the guise of a simple soap lies a multifaceted fragrance. TIMELESS STAGE: Citrus and embracing. It opens with a pristine lemon that turns sweet with an amber floral note, like a spring mist. FIFTIES STAGE: Mysterious Cyprus. It evolves into notes of labdanum, moss, neroli and caraway, paired with carnal flowers such as jasmine and rose. Sophistication and mystery, in the style of Dior’s New Look or Balenciaga. TEENAGE STAGE: Soapy dressing table. As it dries, it smells of a classic barbershop and a neo-romantic dressing room. Lavender, iris, rose, sandalwood, vanilla, tonka bean and amber. The most delicate Guerlinade. Sillage is low but longevity is acceptable. It goes with everything, especially on sunny days. An elegance and distinction that travel through time.
Completely agree with La Dame de Noir; I don’t understand why it’s hidden among other fragrances. It recalls those 1970s squashed scents like Eau de Rochas or Lancaster, but with the Guerlain seal. The opening is invigorating and super citrusy (speaking of the 1990s vintage version). The fruits are weak and soon the clove and rose emerge with lavender, basil, bergamot and mint. The sandalwood confirms it’s Guerlain and sometimes I think of Vol de Nuit. It follows the citrus, neroli and woods with oakmoss. It blushes the Aquas Allegoria. According to other forums, it has been reformulated, so I recommend the vintage and buying blind. It has the house DNA, it’s not a simple cologne, it’s timeless and versatile. 10/10.

According to other forums, it has been reformulated; I recommend the vintage and you can buy it blind. It has the house’s DNA; it is not a simple cologne, it is timeless and versatile. 10/10.
