The controversy crossed these shores years ago, ever since the product was fleeting and insignificant. Despite commercial success and advertising more artistic than the perfume itself, Fame is nothing new. Lady Gaga set expectations with the black fluid in the packaging, which may have sacrificed the sillage. They promised a scandalous and shameless aroma, all wrapped in a critique of popular culture and ephemeral fame. But it all ends with the same stereotypes. It opens with supermarket honey, then a smoky incense that gives a bitter, aged touch. The flowers evaporate quickly, leaving an infinitesimal and creamy sillage, and the belladonna is ghostly. Fame has a favourable sillage while it lasts on the skin, but it vanishes in a few hours. Despite the stylish container, it falls short compared to other celebrities. It’s tragic to see expectations crumble under poor execution; Fame is a stereotype made and done.

  • It’s sweet; I notice the honey and incense a lot. At first, there are floral and fruity notes that disappear quickly. Overall, I like it; I’ve always preferred sweet perfumes. On my skin, it has good longevity and a moderate sillage.

  • Camisagri

I love it! They gave it to me today, I hadn’t paid much attention to it, and I was fascinated; I can’t stop smelling it.

  • The scent is fairly normal for a Lady Gaga fragrance, nothing groundbreaking. It smells nice without being extraordinary. The notes create a scent of ripe red fruits, like raspberry (which isn’t listed in the description), and the honeyed florals add seriousness. It goes perfectly for events and night outs. In my opinion, it’s ideal for girls over twenty.

It disappointed me on the skin. On the box, it smelled good, a bit sweet, but once applied, it smells like aged wine. There are vintage perfumes that remind us of a lady from the nineteenth century or a grandmother; they are nostalgic and tender, but Fame smells like an attempt at classical art. The sweetness fades, leaving only that trail of old wine.

  • I’m a Lady Gaga fan, but her first perfume, Fame, lasts nothing. It smells floral-fruity and nice, but on my skin it disappears in less than half an hour. I only like the bottle.

  • Carlos Eduardo galvez gai

I’ve had it for two years. I ordered it because of Gaga’s attitude, expecting something like Dior’s Poison, but it wasn’t. It’s a shy, forgettable teenage scent. Furthermore, the ingredients are poor; after two years, it smells of old flowers and rotten honey, like a grandmother’s perfume. It’s a pity because the bottle and the black liquid are truly impressive.

  • VainillaDulce

I went to the store out of curiosity because of Lady Gaga, and the dry-down was pffft—was that it all? I couldn’t even find anything by pressing my nose to my skin. It smells of smoked peach with incense and honey, yet has no sillage or longevity. It’s like saying ‘much ado about nothing’.

  • Natalylopez

It smells of orchid, sweet and fresh; people told me it smelled wonderful. The problem is that I could barely detect it and it didn’t last at all, so I wouldn’t buy it again.

  • I bought it for the bottle, which is stunning, and upon trying it, I found it sweet and elegant—I loved it. However, it soon turned into cheap synthetic grape notes with no sillage or longevity. I cannot recommend it.

  • Mary rangel

I bought it when they were about to discontinue it; I still have half left. It smells of grapes with red wine and a hint of incense; it’s not very elaborate, quite simple, but for the price it lasts 8 hours. I wouldn’t wear it at night. What bothers me is that the liquid leaks out upon application and I end up with sticky fingers; the atomiser lacks quality or it’s faulty.

  • I loved it when I first encountered it: the bottle, the dark liquid, the sweet aroma and the whole concept. Five years ago, I bought a set with 30 ml and a 7 ml roll-on. As I liked it so much, when the 30 ml ran out, I bought the 100 ml. I used this until half way and stopped because the liquid changed its scent… The roll-on remains intact and its aroma is incredible, rich and sweet as the first time. Why did the 100 ml bottle’s scent change?

  • As a teenager, I died to have it and was frustrated that no one ever gifted it to me. As a huge Lady Gaga fan, I thought it would smell incredible; I like it and it’s pleasant, but for the presentation it has, it’s quite mediocre. It’s sweet and fleeting.

  • Mona Mour

I love the black liquid that turns clear upon application; it always caught my eye. It’s a peculiar, strong and sweet aroma. I loved it, I finished two bottles and would use it again. If you like sweet scents, I recommend it 100%.

  • A great disappointment: I imagined something potent and strong, but nothing like it. It’s a rich scent, not woody like most, but it doesn’t last an hour on my skin; for daily use, you’d go unnoticed. I think it just didn’t fit the Lady Gaga image, which is why they didn’t make more. Haha!

  • Toxicidad

It’s my favourite, the best of all. It lasts for ages; I can still smell it after showering and it lingers on clothes for days. It’s very different from the others; the second bottle I used didn’t seem feminine, having a dark, formal touch without being too matronly. I started using it at 13 and loved it. Obviously, I bought it because of Lady Gaga, but it surprised me hugely; my boyfriend loves it too. It reminds me of Good Girl by Carolina Herrera.

  • I loved it. I tried it ages ago on a friend’s recommendation but couldn’t buy it as it’s no longer available. I remember it as sweet and modern, totally original and unlike anything else. I wish they would bring it back, even though Lady Gaga never really impressed me as an artist…

  • LulaFlower

They gifted it to me and the bottle is pretty, but what a dreadful fragrance. It’s the opposite of what I’m looking for: cloyingly sweet, more childish than a pacifier, with non-existent longevity. If they told me it was a toy cologne, I’d believe it.

  • I keep it solely for the bottle, which is gorgeous, but the longevity is non-existent and it smells of nothing in particular; it’s a light sweetness, nothing that will make people remember you.

  • Paola Andrade

I love this perfume. Many say it’s nothing special or that it doesn’t last, but on my skin it does last and leaves a sweetness that my partner adores; he says it’s carnal and delicious. It’s a divine sweet, I use it on special occasions and would buy it again without a doubt. It was a gift from my dad.

  • I had it several years ago. It didn’t smell bad; it was simply another sweet fragrance, smelling strongly of grape. Nothing stood out.

  • w3xtrilogy

Undoubtedly, it has a particular scent. I bought it ten years after its launch and I have a special affection for it. I don’t know if it’s because it’s so iconic and hard to find or because of its ‘high-class prostitute’ smell (as Lady Gaga defined it). For me, it’s not just a sweet fragrance; it’s an elixir of life. With that black colour, I see it as sexy and unisex. It’s addictive; sometimes you can’t stop smelling it.

  • To me, it smells of lots of honey with smoky notes. Quite sweet at first. A very mysterious perfume; the bottle gives it a magical or enigmatic touch. I used it years ago and it brings back good memories.

  • I’ve had it for ten years since it launched. I loved it when I bought it; it had good projection on my skin and I wore it in the heat. I still like it; the scent holds up well. I have the 50ml pack and half is left, so I only use it to smell it. It reminds me a lot of Kim’s True Reflection, but that doesn’t last more than two hours and eventually only patchouli remains.

  • renpadtree

The truth is, I’ve been in love with it since I first heard it. Unlike other reviews, for me it doesn’t resemble anything; it’s mysterious and nocturnal, yet wearable during the day. It’s quite sweet, but I don’t recall hearing anything like it. It hurts that they’ve discontinued it; it’s a gem.

  • cukiaburrida

It’s exactly like Mademoiselle Ricci, the same thing! A beautiful perfume. Just a little sweeter than Nina’s. I’m surprised no one has made the comparison. It comes out with intense red fruits, lasts a few seconds. Then the dry-down is powdery, slightly sweet, and the roses are very noticeable even though they aren’t listed. Ideal for daily wear.

  • Candycandy40

I read the reviews and it’s curious that everyone smells it differently. Once the hype about it smelling like blood has passed, the composition is just average… but the black bottle looks like a medieval potion in an alien container. To me, it smells of mint or sweet honeysuckle, like those old chlorophyll chewing gums with sugar. I like it for being different, a pity it doesn’t last long on my skin.

  • Ivanovactri

Very, very sweet, unparalleled, with lots of personality and nothing mass-produced. You can detect the saffron, honey and incense. It lasts forever; on clothes it’s another world entirely. I’ve been asked what it is so many times; it’s super special, perhaps not for everyday wear.

  • Smells absolutely brutal. I picked it up in a gift pack straight out of the shop, and although I didn’t realise it until a couple of years ago, it’s my favourite. It has that mature, comforting floral sweetness with a spicy twist. It’s not unique; there are ‘del palo’ colognes that are similar, but the bottle is a real showstopper.

  • CarlosPeralta

It’s a very sweet perfume that smells good, though its projection isn’t the best and the longevity is average. My wife bought it because she’s a huge Lady Gaga fan, and I notice that since it was discontinued, they’re giving it a lot of hype, as if it were a fragrance from another world, when the reality is that it’s a good perfume like many on the market, but not one to overvalue. There are better options if you’re not a collector; if you are a collector or a Lady Gaga fan, perhaps only then is it worth it.

  • FridaOdette

I love this perfume; what I like most is that it’s black—I’ve never seen a perfume of that colour. The first time I smelled it, I thought it had a scent similar to purple grapes.

  • I was gifted this perfume in a kit; I was drawn to it because it was by Lady Gaga and because of the black colour, but it gave me an allergy and, besides, the smell was super strong at first. I wouldn’t recommend it, and if it came back, I wouldn’t buy it.

We’re starting autumn with FAME from the multifaceted and enormous artist that is Lady Gaga ⭐. Her first perfume, which sold like hot cakes thanks to rumours that it contained notes as fun as semen, her period, or her own blood—nothing could be further from the truth 🤣. FAME is a dark, narcotic fragrance; with the black liquid, we dive into a dark, esoteric world. Wearing it feels like stepping into a fortune teller’s consultation. It has that oriental incense touch which blends very well with honey and apricot, possibly reminding you of a dessert, but nothing could be further from the reality; it’s all a sweet façade hiding its true face: deadly nightshade, a poisonous and mortal flower. The orchid, saffron, and jasmine hide in the background, appearing occasionally but kept in check so as not to anger the honeyed incense that manages this entire creation. Unfortunately, FAME has been discontinued for a few years now and is hard to find. I actually had to get a tester (no cap 😪) to enjoy it. It has a moderate trail that envelops you without overwhelming you. It gives an air of sophistication and mystery that other perfumes simply don’t offer.

  • sophie sinclair

I bought this perfume because people said it smelled sweet and grape-like, but it was a total letdown. It smells citrusy, and I avoid citrus scents because they turn sour on my skin. I bought it blind and tested it blind too, even in 35-degree heat, but I don’t think the temperature was the issue. It smells just like any other citrus fragrance. I’ll be keeping it hidden so I never wear it again.

  • nataliedrm

The bottle is divine; I suppose it had fame because it was Lady Gaga’s, but it doesn’t stand out beyond its honey note. It’s fleeting and you have to keep reapplying it constantly.

  • I’ve found its perfect clone! Drums please! Vibranza Luminous by the Peruvian brand Esika. By the way, it lasts longer than Fame; I took three days to realise, spending all that time wondering how wonderful this smells before. Anyway, I finished the Fame bottle; its longevity was a joke. I think this one is already discontinued, so I regret throwing away the bottle or not keeping a bit of that striking black liquid; the bottle was pretty but felt a bit cheap, yet I still regret throwing it away. Haha. This perfume went with a leather jacket and dark sunglasses. A sweet, flattering, and very interesting fragrance.

  • What a lack of respect to discontinue this masterpiece. It’s divine, elegant, mysterious, and full of personality. Perhaps it lacked a bit more sillage and longevity, but… can you imagine finding a dark, elegant feminine fragrance that isn’t cheesy? What a pity; I hope they produce it again.

  • It’s the king of my collection; I’m lucky to have my 75% bottle. An absolute gem. The blend of incense and honey is what hooks me most. Released in 2012, and today, if I wear it, the projection is brutal. I don’t know if it’s due to the maceration and how it’s evolved over the years, but it smells incredible. There were three sizes: 30, 50, and 100ml. Mine was 100ml, came with a ‘MASTERPIECE’ label and a metal cap. I hope they bring it back, as it’s discontinued and if you find it, the price is insane.
