Iris in the shadows: darkened iris with resinous notes. Nothing like the clean iris of Prada. If anything, it is closer to the treatment of the orris used in Dior Homme by Demachy, but the make-up sensations give way here; I find no pear or rose, only myrrh and elemi. Powdery? Yes, it retains the distinctive identity of iris, but this Giardino does not radiate light, nor is it earthy; rather, it leans towards chocolate. On cold days, it warms and accompanies with its presence. As stated, my nose and skin do not consider it redundant with Dior Homme, and a small bottle found its way into my wardrobe. By the way, the crystal packaging is very beautiful, vintage, a tribute to the bottles of old apothecaries. The box, simple and pretty, compensates for its price deficit with a cloth pouch to protect it. A great job by Farmacia della Santissima Annunziata, open in Florence for five centuries, which with its new ownership has launched into the niche perfumery target. I like this Giardino. I like it very much. It allows me to rotate with my beloved Dior Homme Intense/Parfum and Narciso Pour Homme EDP. A must-try if you like iris. I said it.
I tried it at the central Florence boutique of this wonderful house and it seemed excellent to me. It is a talc-infused vanilla with myrrh, giving it a mystical and slightly darker character. It has hints of Dior’s Bois d’Argent, as well as Van Haren, and if you know the scent of elemi resin, it is quite noticeable here; it is a sweet, resinous, and very rich fragrance. I might buy a bottle before or after.
