I bought this budget perfume for its supposed resemblance to Hypnotic Poison, which I still cannot compare it to directly. Although the bottle’s texture is plastic, I find it very pretty. I love the fragrance: it is very sweet yet light. You can detect coconut and vanilla over a spiced, woody base of sandalwood and licorice. It has a restrained sillage, but I constantly smell myself softly, which I adore. I think with more potency it would become cloying. The longevity is excellent. This is my first Jeanne Arthes purchase and has prompted me to research the brand further. Scent 8/10, Longevity 9/10, Trail 6/10, Value for money 9/10, Versatility 6/10, Packaging 8/10. Would I buy again? Yes.
This is my third purchase from Jeanne Arthes. The previous ones were Love Generation Rock and Sultana L’Eau Fatale. Of the three, this one has lesser longevity and trail, but it is pleasant and, as Taurien says, you constantly smell like yourself. It is a sweet fragrance that does not cloy, melting into the skin to leave a trail of vanilla and spices. I have really enjoyed it as much as my two previous purchases.
This wonderful perfume arrived today and nothing surprised me; the positive reviews here and on Notino hold true. It’s long-lasting, about six hours on my skin. The sillage is moderate; after a couple of hours you need to get close to smell it, but it remains latent and makes you smell like yourself. It has some similarity to Dior’s Hypnotic Poison, but here the notes sound more synthetic, giving a plasticky scent. Still, it’s a 10 for value for money. I certainly recommend it.
This wonderful perfume arrived today, and it did not disappoint given the positive reviews I read on Notino. It is long-lasting, about six hours on my skin. The trail is moderate; you have to get close to smell it after a couple of hours, but it remains latent, and you end up smelling like yourself. It resembles Dior’s Hypnotic Poison, but here the notes feel more synthetic, giving a slightly plastified scent. Nevertheless, it is a 10 for value for money; I recommend it without hesitation.
It bears a striking resemblance to Hypnotic Poison, yet costs only a tenth of the price. Beyond the similarity, it is a superb fragrance from a prestigious house with a rich heritage, based in Grasse with its own plantations and master perfumers. Jeanne Arthes is the French perfume empire, founded in 1978 by Bernard Perri, available in shopping centres, pharmacies and airports across France, and online worldwide, including India and the Emirates. The quality is unquestionable, and the Guipure and Silk collection is definitely worth exploring. This scent is excellent, pleasant, with noticeable heliotrope, orange blossom, coconut cream, almonds, vanilla aromatised with sandalwood and licorice. It is creamy, deep, warm, intense, sweet, feminine and sensual. I love its versatility: it suits jeans or an evening gown equally well. It shines more in winter; perhaps it is too heavy for hot summers. I recommend it for those in their early twenties; it is current (launched around 2010), has good longevity, and you smell like yourself while feeling perfumed—a sensation I adore. I can detect it for up to six hours; clothes retain the scent until washing. It projects pleasantly for two or three hours without being intrusive and is loved by others; I always receive compliments. The presentation is lovely: the box has fine details, the inner lid mimics lace, and while the bottle is controversial and made of plastic imitating guipure, I find it very cute; the glass is heavy and high quality. Unlike Chanel No. 5 with its paper sticker or limited editions, this bottle is genuinely beautiful. In short, a very good perfume at a great price. Buy blind (unless you dislike coconut or licorice), and it is sure to make a great gift. If you already know the brand, try Guipure and Silk Habana Moon; it is delicious and my favourite.
It’s like a Hypnotic Poison with lots of almonds and much more synthetic. It lasts about 4-5 hours on the skin, but it’s pleasant.
I received it today, bought it blind, and I have no regrets because I’ve liked it since the bottle. It’s a very rich scent; they say it resembles Hypnotic Poison, but I haven’t tried the original. For the price, it’s worth it; you can’t ask for more, it’s a lovely perfume.
I’ve had this for a couple of years and the more I use it, the more I like it. Its resemblance to Hypnotic Poison isn’t as heavy; they’re cousins, but that’s all. Guipure & Silk has its own personality: it’s sweet, warm, and I detect a rich liquor note. I own three from the Guipure range by Jeanne Arthes, and while the other two aren’t bad, I think this is the only one I’ll repurchase; in fact, the others are nearly empty and this is only half-used, which is difficult when you have so many perfumes. The longevity and scent are excellent. If you like sweet perfumes, give it a try; you can’t ask for more at this price.
I’ve been wearing this for a couple of years now and I’m getting more and more hooked. The resemblance to Hypnotic Poison is minimal; they’re distant cousins, nothing more. Guipure & Silk has its own personality: sweet, warm, with a delicious liquor note. I own three perfumes from the Guipure range by Jeanne Arthes; the other two are nearly empty and this one is half-used, which is tricky when you have a good collection. The longevity and scent are top-notch. If you like sweet fragrances, give it a try; there’s no better option for the price.
I like it, but I wouldn’t buy it again.
I got this via a trade because the original didn’t suit me and I wanted to see if a clone could surprise me. Spoiler: it didn’t. It starts a bit artificial and chaotic with lots of dusty orange blossom, but then settles into that salty vanilla that reminds me of the trendy Play-Doh version of Hypnotic Poison. I hardly notice the individual notes, but I do detect licorice, orange blossom, a hint of heliotrope, and that synthetic vanilla. It’s a feminine, all-rounder scent, exclusive to cold weather (it’s potent) for very cold days or evenings; it goes with everything, from formal to informal. It’s not my style, so I gifted it to a younger cousin who loved it. For those seeking a substitute for HP, it does resemble it without being identical: it’s a less accomplished and more strident version. Pleasant: 5/10 Interesting: 5/10 Versatile: 7/10 Original: 1/10
