  • It opens with a very feminine rose note, but it settles quickly to reveal patchouli and frankincense. I detected a hint of vetiver, and the rose remains well-integrated throughout. To me, it doesn’t seem particularly suited for men, although it smells wonderful. The trail isn’t very high and the longevity is average too. If you care more about the scent than the duration, this is highly recommended.

Hippie Rose is a delightful discovery. Although it revolves around rose, it treats it in such a particular way that it is neither fresh, aquatic, nor sweet. The balance is perfect: the rose blends brilliantly with bergamot, oakmoss, and frankincense, creating a rich and appealing aroma, totally unisex and of excellent quality. Dry down is barely soapy and distorts nothing. It reminds me a bit of Rochas Moustache EDP, but both use rose in a way I love. Ideal for dates or semi-formal events, with good performance for any weather. It can break paradigms for those who dislike rose but seek something elegant and uncommon. I like it quite a bit and would buy it. Note: 8/10

  • A stunning opening that defines less the hippie girl with roses and more the grandmother of the 60s who had a grudge against hippies. At first, it smells of an older woman, but then it settles and becomes interesting. I’ll keep testing it to give my final verdict, but initially, the opening hasn’t convinced me.

The pink-patchouli duo takes charge here, blended with frankincense and oakmoss to create that smoky, ecclesiastical rose which is powerful, dark and full of character. This isn’t for everyone; you need elegance and personality to pull it off. It strikes me as a night fragrance, unisex, though I enjoy it more on a woman’s skin for that mysterious vibe. It’s polarising: a sigh of relief for frankincense lovers and a heavy weight for detractors. The performance is brutal, lasting over 12 hours with minimal application, but be warned, it projects too easily and leaves a trail metres away. Perhaps it lacks a touch of quality in the notes to be a pure niche scent and feels slightly more commercial, but it’s an interesting proposition that I’ve enjoyed, even if it hasn’t thrilled me 100%.
