James Heeley gives a fresh twist to the 70s and 80s fougère. It’s aromatic, green, with lavender as the absolute star. That blend of lavender, basil, sage, and rosemary dominates at first, then joins a subtler oakmoss. The result is clean, soapy, barbershop-style, versatile, and fine, especially refined. On my skin it lasts about six or seven hours, projects well at first, then settles into a personal bubble that is still perceptible. If you like things like Drakkar Noir, give it a chance.
It caught me by surprise as it isn’t the typical citrus cologne, but rather a green, serious, and calm freshness with less common notes. It gives an elegant, slightly old-school vibe. The oakmoss marks the entire journey. It doesn’t project much but lingers on the skin for a long time.
Nothing new under the sun. It starts citrusy and fresh like a classic cologne, but once it dries down it becomes very similar to Loewe Pour Homme. It lasts about six hours, nothing more. To be honest, I expected something more interesting and it didn’t seem new to me at all. Goodbye.
I’m absolutely obsessed with this masculine fougère; it’s exactly what I was looking for, though my wife complains it smells like my grandfather, which has stung a little.
