  Curious; at the opening it smells of saffron, much like Swiss Arabian’s Shaghaf Oud. That initial sting is identical, as if the alcohol carries something stronger and spicier. I appreciate a very nice velvety raspberry. I detect leather or suede at first, though the brand keeps it in the background; I can smell it for the first hour. Then I notice something synthetic, potent, and woody, perhaps incense, but I don’t recognise it; it’s more like synthetic thyme, a bit dirty, reminiscent of eighties air fresheners. I can’t detect the jasmine; it’s surely there to provide support but remains imperceptible. What I like most is the dry-down: powerful, dry amber notes, akin to norlimbanol or ambroxan, which I adore and are very well balanced. In summary: I like the opening and the base, but the middle is a letdown. It’s neither super-commercial nor niche; the price is low, yet that synthetic component is poorly balanced.
