Very pleasant aroma, well-crafted and not tiring. Excellent for daily use and at a good price. Its longevity and trail are moderate; since I bought it, it’s one of the ones I use most in cold or temperate weather.
An interesting perfume if you’re looking for something versatile for the office and formal events. It follows the line of Varvatos Vintage with the same DNA base, but adds a touch of coffee and rum to give it a more serious, mature, and distinguished focus. It’s not strictly for suit and tie, but it does project a modern gentleman image. Lasts over 8 hours with a soft trail, without being as sticky as most Varvatos. If you find it for £20-25, it’s a good buy.
You don’t notice much coffee or cedar; the drunken touch of rum and suede stands out, with a slight acidic note, perhaps from the apple and bergamot. It lasts a long time, even under a coat, and the trail isn’t very strong. Some say it smells synthetic, but perhaps they aren’t used to this combination. The bottle is pretty and I found it at a good price. Ideal for night and winter, it goes well with a leather jacket or wool coat.
What bothers me most is the dry down: leather mixed with strong coffee and aged rum. I wear it in the afternoon when it’s cold, and that blend with the smell of old, dusty carpets in my cabin gives me the sensation that my wife is still with me and the children are playing in the garden.
To sum up, it’s not a perfume that will leave you breathless, but with the right temperature, setting, and outfit, it can certainly stand out. It has that intoxicating touch that is pleasant and warm; a good option for dates, though there are always other alternatives. Interesting notes like rum, coffee, and incense are well-defined. It’s an unconventional scent, perhaps that’s its charm. Don’t buy it blindly, but it’s not bad either; better to try it first.
