  I tried it with a small sample, but it made an impression. Although it’s called Musc, what stands out most is the heliotrope, giving that typical powdery feel. It’s very powdery, with a touch of tonka bean to sweeten it and a hint of rose. The musk is there, but it doesn’t smell like pure musk. It has good longevity and projection. I see it more as a fragrance for women, due to that powdery character, and especially for evening wear.

  Smells of potent musk, strong heliotrope, and a pale rose. The neroli opening is short-lived, followed by undeclared aldehydes that give a soapy, clean, slightly waxy effect. Combined with the musk and heliotrope, it creates an almond-like, dense, and creamy sensation, very enveloping and complex. The longevity and trail are excellent, evolving semi-linearly. Curiously, it sounds more retro to me than Musc and Rose Etoile, even though Musc isn’t one of my favourites. Rating: 6.5.

  It takes me back to when I was 12, spending summers with my grandparents in an Andalusian village; it smells like the bottle my grandmother kept in a drawer, though I’ve forgotten its name. It’s very intense at first, musky with lots of heliotrope and tonka bean, fairly linear but sweetening as it dries. I’m grateful I don’t detect the soapy rose, although I’m sure it’s there. I wouldn’t dare wear it myself, but I absolutely loved it and might buy it one day.
