  1. For me, it is the definitive leather. Although I usually own several perfumes with my favourite note, after trying and buying Cuir by Mona di Orio, I stopped looking for more. The leather is deep and the star; yes, it is quite animal and the castoreum is noticeable, but the Virginia juniper and opoponax balance everything with an elegance that makes it ruthlessly wonderful. Every note is perfect and transports you to a horse ranch beside a lush forest. You don’t need a collection of leathers; this is undoubtedly the most elegant on the market.

  2. This fragrance by Mona is difficult to digest at first and can smell like dirty ashtray if you don’t give it time and analyse it properly. Cuir is not just smoked leather; its evolution makes it interesting and unusual. It is a formidable and complex work that walks a dark path with smoke, mossy green tones and cade wood, and the edge of an animal leather precipice thanks to the potent, wild and warm castoreum in a retro eighties style. That duality, even if not fully defined, makes it beautiful, a postmodern shock that turns it into a unique, incredibly refined masterpiece. The opoponax in the dry down rounds off that animal sensation into something balsamic, pleasant and vital, like a story with a happy ending. Cuir is brutal. Rating: 9.

A sexual, smoked and sweaty leather defines this very different perfume. It is an olfactory experience difficult to process but worth living. I have a very complete review on my blog: historias-fragantes.blogspot.com

  4. Puffff, one of the most difficult perfumes I have found from my idolised Mona di Orio. To put it briefly, it is a very smoked leather with spicy touches and a dry down heavy on castoreum. The quality is impressive, but for my nose it is excessive. Mind you, I think it is spectacular and very different, but I wouldn’t dare to wear it; for me, it is too much. The longevity and sillage… monstrous! P.S.: For those who say Mugler’s A Men is strong, if they try this it could take them to the hospital.
