Of course it smells better than the Detour Noir, which is already quite good. This one feels more balanced and harmonious. The menthol note is more noticeable in the Detour Noir.
With this, I no longer see any reason to buy the original Layton. It is almost the same liquid, but it lasts longer. The scent is a vanilla apple with a backdrop of camphorated woods: an ultra-niche Versace Eros taken to another level. I haven’t tested it in depth yet, but I already notice a very intense trail and a much superior aromatic quality to the Detour Noir.
This perfume has a very particular scent: at first I don’t like it, but when it evolves, it is indeed attractive. The problem is that on my skin it has given me an allergy, and when I bring it close to my face to smell it, it also irritates my atopic lips. It could be that, as this has never happened to me with another perfume, only with this one.
I know the Layton well enough, and this is a perfect clone; it makes the Detour look like a cheap, second-rate version.
What a madness, isn’t it? For $60 you get almost a Layton, with longevity that perhaps even surpasses the fragrance it mimics. I haven’t tried the Detour Noir, but I did test the original Layton; the similarity is between 95% and 97%, though the vanilla smells a little more synthetic.
