When I get married, I’ll make sure my husband always wears this, because that’s how I like a man close to me to smell. It has one of the most sublime, delicate, and exquisite bergamots I’ve ever smelled in a men’s perfume. Accompanied by vetiver, labdanum, and patchouli in perfect harmony; with a touch of sweet vanilla that boosts the labdanum and vetiver, and another of fresh mint that brings new life to the patchouli and complements the bergamot. It’s exquisite, smells delicious, and I’m in love <3 One of my favourites for men! 😀
I can’t believe there’s no declared note of pepper or chilli…
Elegant fragrance that I would apply twice. The opening is strong on menthol, then the citrus and vetiver emerge. It lasts over 6 hours. Ideal for spring or winter. A good choice from Cartier.
According to Fragrantica, the opening features very prominent bergamot and mint: the former is intense and powdery, almost talc-like, while the mint is soft. In the heart, French labdanum and vetiver dominate, accompanied by an undeclared sting reminiscent of white pepper. The dry-down is long, with non-cloying vanilla and soft patchouli. It smells timeless: it works in warm climates and holds well on cold days or evenings, though not for extreme summer heat (not for sweating). It’s youthful, elegant, and semi-formal. The trail is moderate but lingers if applied heavily, enhancing that powdery bergamot effect. The longevity exceeds 12 hours and is clearly noticeable.
This fragrance is impeccable and very well administered. The Sport version is recommended for those under 25; this one seems excellent between 25 and 30. Simply put, it is a lotion every man should own. The best creation by Mathilde Laurent for men.
Roadster gives the impression of being serious, correct, elegant, and formal. I don’t see it for sport, nor as romantic or very youthful; I think it shines more in a work environment, as if it were created for that or for personal enjoyment. Its aroma is herbal and fresh: a mint opening with light bergamot, followed by the herbal and earthy notes of labdanum, patchouli, and vetiver, which are intense, with a timid and non-cloying vanilla. I see greater potential in spring and summer, although it wouldn’t be out of place in autumn or winter. The longevity and trail are moderate. I recommend trying it before buying blindly.

Excellent, I love it.
In this composition, all the notes are detectable, although patchouli, mint and vanilla predominate; the others are very discreet. It smells savoury, better suited for summer and spring. I wear it only casually because it can be polarising, but I am fascinated by it and it is in my top 3 for summer. The Vintage version is far superior to the reformulation.
On Roadster, you can feel Cartier’s philosophy; since Declaration, they have offered beautiful, ethereal fragrances. Here they descend to the earthly realm without forgetting their spiritual essence. It is gorgeous, full of spirituality but also sagacity and sophisticated irreverence. A very earthly result with green and earthy flashes that express the virility and beauty of a high-end car. I bought it after becoming captivated. As Azuriiita says: ‘It has one of the most sublime, delicate and exquisite bergamots I have ever smelled in a men’s perfume’, accompanied by vetiver, labdanum and patchouli in perfect harmony. No need to describe its performance; Roadster is neat, sagacious and fairly masculine, capable of cutting through generic offerings. Cartier never fails. 9.6 Absolute.
In Roadster, you can feel Cartier’s philosophy: from Declaration, they offer beautiful and ethereal fragrances, but here they step down into the earthly realm without forgetting their spiritual essence. Roadster is beautiful, full of spirituality but also of sagacity and sophisticated irreverence. A very earthly result thanks to the green and earthy sparkles that, at times, express the virility and beauty of a high-end car. I bought it today after being captivated by the test spray. As our colleague Azuriiita correctly said: ‘It has one of the most sublime, delicate, and exquisite bergamots I have ever smelled in a men’s perfume to date. Accompanied by vetiver, labdanum, and patchouli in perfect harmony’. There’s no need to describe its performance, but rather its aromatic implications. Roadster is neat, sagacious, and fairly masculine; no problem cutting through the traffic of generic proposals today. Once again, Cartier doesn’t miss! 9.6 Absolute
Excellent blend of mint and vanilla. The quality of the ingredients is noticeable. Very persistent on the skin with good projection.
I bought it blindly thinking it would be a pleasant, classic, and high-quality perfume. The result was gifting it away a month after getting it. I didn’t quite understand the aroma, I couldn’t define it, the notes aren’t my thing, but it resulted in a strange and annoying combination for my nose.
Bought it blindfolded, expecting something pleasant, classic and of good quality. The result was giving it away after a month. I didn’t understand the scent, couldn’t define it, the notes aren’t my thing and the combination seemed strange and annoying.
The opening is a bit unpleasant, but it soon turns sweet and mentholated. Smells of mint, vanilla and chocolate. It’s not a bad fragrance, but it’s not for everyone.
A rare perfume. Very heavy on patchouli at first, then it improves, but I never quite get used to it. Gave it away after a month. Scent: 7/10, Longevity: 8/10.
Fantastic! Potent, earthy mint with bergamot, patchouli and a vanilla, woody, sweet dry-down. It lasts about 20 minutes before the patchouli and vanilla take over, with citrus notes appearing and disappearing. Fixation and trail are impressive at six hours; I tested this by walking around and could still smell it from a distance.
Another blind buy and a great disappointment. Not because of the price, which was cheap, nor the quality, which is top-notch in both the fragrance and the packaging, a work of art. The problem is the scent: I expected something fresh and minty, but nothing like that. The herbal mint at the start is top, but it lasts only minutes before turning dry, earthy, like burnt wood, a bomb of patchouli and vetiver without any freshness or vanilla sweetness. At times it reminds me of L’instant by Guerlain, but with a much worse finish. I didn’t like it, although the quality is good. The scorecard was better executed in other perfumes like L’instant, Guerlain Homme Intense or Pasha by Cartier. Cheers.
I’m correcting my previous review without deleting it, as that was my initial impression. After trying it in cooler weather (the first time was dead summer), I’d say it’s a very good fragrance, in the line of L’instant by Guerlain but with its own style. My mistake was thinking it was a summer scent; quite the opposite, where it truly shines is in autumn.
I bought it blindly and so far I haven’t liked it. It smells too strongly of mint; it’s very fresh but it just doesn’t hook me.
When I first tried it, I already had experience with commercial perfumes, and yet it was still a pleasant surprise. To me, it smells of mint and chocolate, like those small After Eight bars I love in the fridge after a meal. I see it as versatile, different, long-lasting and with good projection; nothing outdated.
Elegant and sporty all at once. You have to give it a chance: apply it to your skin and let it dry for a while; that’s where its magic lies. After half an hour, it settles and reveals its facets. This fragrance is for falling in love and for marking territory.
It’s a marvel; I think it’s in my top three favourites. I don’t understand how they’ve discontinued it so aggressively; it’s impossible to find. I’m lucky enough to have kept about 20ml from my original bottle and I’ll use it drop by drop.
Roadster is a very peculiar fragrance, super well-crafted, elegant and rare. Mint predominates, which, together with vanilla and vetiver, creates a balance between warm and cool. It’s welcoming yet also cool. It’s strange; I love it but sometimes I get tired of it because it never quite clicks. If you find it, buy it without hesitation; it’s unique.
How to explain Roadster? It’s a very curious perfume: it’s sweet yet fresh at the same time. Very unique in its style, as few fragrances smell like this. It lasts quite well with a trail that is more than sufficient (it makes itself felt). It’s a pity it’s discontinued; if you have the chance to get hold of it, don’t miss the opportunity. That said, I don’t think it’s recommended for blind buying. The vanilla mixed with mint is something not everyone likes, but in my opinion, in this fragrance, it’s done well.
How do you explain Roadster? It smells sweet and fresh at the same time, a very unique style that few fragrances manage. It lasts well and has a noticeable trail. What a pity it’s been discontinued; if you can get your hands on it, don’t miss out, but beware, I wouldn’t recommend buying it blindly. The vanilla and mint blend isn’t for everyone, but here it’s executed well.
I could say a thousand things, but better one: it literally smells like a puppy once it’s properly dry.
Cartier Roadster is a top-tier fragrance for sunny spring and summer days, yet it steers clear of the usual tropes; it’s sophisticated and complex. Its herbal notes, with a citrusy touch and hints of wood, make it ideal for young but mature men. It’s excellent, though finding it nowadays is an absolute nightmare.
