In contrast, this version smells synthetic, like the size of a house, and like the cheapest stuff you can find in chemists.

  A fantastic fragrance for vintage lovers. I’ve never smelled the original, but on its own it’s a great perfume. It reminds me of Polo Green and even more so of Quorum Classic, but with lavender replacing the tobacco. It’s a very masculine fougère. It lasted four hours, projecting well for the first hour and then staying close to the skin. If its projection and longevity were better, it would undoubtedly be in my top five. I’m not hopeful it will improve with age; I’ve read that this fragrance doesn’t develop that way.

  The scent is accurate, and so are the bottle and atomiser, but forget the official notes: it’s a floral-musked, animalic fragrance with a dry, rustic, woody leather accord. The box claims it contains linal and lilial (smelling of cyclamen) and that they are natural, although IFRA has already banned them in Europe. Longevity and projection are very poor.
