  • The Halloween perfume? Seeing the pyramid and the pumpkin accord, someone might think so and it wouldn’t be a bad direction. Its special contribution is creating an oriental semi-gourmand around the pumpkin, and the result isn’t bad at all. It’s a velvety, smoked pumpkin sweet that contrasts with the cold face of the ginger. There’s a caramelised touch that mixes perfectly with the pumpkin, giving tranquility and balance. Perhaps it’s the vetiver, so much used and caramelised by this house. The immortelle is brilliantly integrated, not so shouty. The result is balanced, in harmony, like a warm and enchanting blanket. What’s missing is a more notable trail.

  • A nice modern and relaxed fragrance. Under a musky heliotrope floral, the development becomes powdery and the sweet pumpkin joins in via the immortelle, creating an elegant semi-gourmand that’s super feminine. The composition isn’t surprising but it’s very well made. Decent longevity, moderate projection. Ideal for a sexy witch or Cinderella, depending on who you identify with. Rating: 7.5.

I absolutely adore this scent: sweet, floral, and with that powdery carrot note mentioned in the ELDO brochure. I imagine it as a lighter, more feminine take on Dior Homme Intense or Givenchy Gentleman, featuring plenty of heliotrope blended with pumpkin to create that dusty iris effect. The only downside is its poor longevity and projection; it’s better suited for mild days without strong sunlight. I see it as unisex due to its discretion, though I know it leans more towards women and some men might find it overpowering. Scent: 9, Longevity: 6, Projection: 5, Value for money: 6, Versatility: 9, Originality: 8, Overall: 8.5

I love the scent: sweet, floral and powdery. According to the leaflet it carries carrot and it really reminds me of it, like iris or carrot seed perfumes. It could be a light and feminine version of Dior Homme Intense or Givenchy Gentleman. You can smell the heliotrope; perhaps that mix with carrot and pumpkin is what recalls the powdery iris. The downside is the performance: scarce trail and longevity isn’t bomb-like. Better for everyday wear without the sun beating down. I see it as unisex and discreet, although I think women will like it more. Scent 9, Longevity 6, Projection 5, Value for money 6, Versatility 9, Originality 8, Overall 8.5.

  • My first niche fragrance and one of the most special. Like This opens sweet and vegetal, like orange vegetables for cream, with ginger and immortelle. It’s very linear: warm, sweet and cosy. It reminds me of my grandmother’s front door, flowers in a vase, wellbeing. It’s unisex leaning towards feminine, ideal for cold days, rain and pyjamas, on the sofa with tea and a book. Because it’s so pleasant, it can be worn on any informal occasion in cold weather. Longevity and projection are good; with four sprays it gives me a slight headache, but it lasts over 12 hours. It creates a comfort bubble without being intrusive. Perfect name. Pleasant 8/10, Interesting 8/10, Versatile 7/10, Original 8/10.

  • My first niche fragrance and one of the most special. Like This opens sweet and vegetal, reminiscent of chopped orange vegetables for a pumpkin soup, with ginger and immortelle. It’s very linear, warm, and cosy; it brings to mind my grandmother’s front door and evokes a sense of wellbeing. It’s a unisex scent leaning feminine, ideal for cold, rainy days, lounging in pyjamas on the sofa with a cup of tea. Just in case, it suits any informal occasion in cold weather. It lasts over 12 hours and projects well; if I use four sprays, it gives me a slight headache that passes in minutes but the scent lingers for another couple of hours. It creates a comfort bubble without being intrusive. The name is perfect: you simply have to like it. Pleasantness: 8, Interesting: 8, Versatile: 7, Original: 8

Who would mix immortelle, heliotrope and citrus with pumpkin and carrot in an organic garden? Etat Libre d’Orange. It starts with delicious mandarin and ginger, then neroli, rose, vetiver and musk. Putting pumpkin in the heart is a feat. At first it seems singular, earthy and granular, but then you grow to like it for its simplicity and warmth. It doesn’t seek exuberance, just to wrap you in a familiar garden sweetness. It aims to return to the source, to childhood memories.

  • Paniperfums

A very particular scent: vegetal, creamy, and cosy. It has a relaxed, talcum-floral side, that powdery and cottony sensation of heliotrope which goes wonderfully with pumpkin, rose, and immortelle. The vegetal note is strong and blends with fresh spices like ginger, mandarin, and Neroli. There’s a musky touch that makes it as soft as fresh vegetables, even with a hint of nuttiness when brand new.

  • Paniperfums

A vegetal, creamy and cosy aroma. It has a very relaxed, talc-like floral side, that powdery touch of heliotrope which goes brilliantly with the pumpkin. There’s also rose and immortelle. The vegetal note is accompanied by lively spices like ginger, and green citrus of mandarin and neroli. It has a touch of musk that makes it soft, like fresh vegetables, with a small nutty note when it’s brand new.

  • Very particular, a jewel unlike anything else. It starts with a juicy orange, then pumpkin, carrot and ginger with immortelle and neroli flowers. Heliotrope and rose add a powdery tint, like iris. On my skin it has moderate trail and over 12 hours of longevity. I was worried about the performance, but on my skin it exceeds expectations. I know smelling pumpkin puree with ginger is strange, but some people enjoy it. It’s cosy and interesting. Etat Libre d’Orange never fails. Scent 7.5/10, Longevity 10/10, Trail 7/10, Value for money 7/10, Versatility 3/10. Would I buy it again? Probably.

  • Psicostasis

I was surprised to read the reviews and was excited about the pumpkin note; I’m a fan of purees. However, at first it smells scratchy and like hair lacquer, like the visors my partner’s sister left at the hairdresser’s. Dry, bitter, dusty scent. Only when it dries thoroughly, after those musks, do I notice the creaminess of the puree with its anise and sparkling nuances. I like it very much, but it’s a shame it’s so hidden. How beautiful it is when dried, just as promised. I adore the vegetable garden; I wish one could enjoy it straight from the dry-down.

It wasn’t love at first sight. The ginger opens with force and knocks you down the moment you spray it. But then the pumpkin, carrot and flowers come in, and things change: it’s sweet yet dry. The dry-down is the best part and the longevity never fails. Absolutely autumnal and a unique experience. Give it a try and wait for the dry-down, because the opening doesn’t convince me like it does.
