I have a phrase for this fragrance… WOW! Delightfully subtle and overwhelmingly powerful at the same time. It’s an eighties floral, sweet and captivating, with acidic touches and a slightly plastic note that fits perfectly for going out at night. It smells like a sweet treat, it’s warm and with just wearing it, summer is back! It scents of sunscreen, coconut oil, delicate flowers and a trail of tonka; it’s synthetically novel but reminds me of Boucheron, Tresor, Paris, Volupté, Kashaya or Beautiful, as if they’d combined all the grand florals of the eighties and nineties into one bottle. It has the DNA of Sophia Grojsman without being her creation. It opens with an opulent floral explosion with vanilla, crossed by bergamot and freesia (that flower which always smells rosily acidic to me), with peaks of pepper and tonka barely softened by the green smoke of sandalwood and flowers and flowers and more flowers, settling on warm, woody woods. It’s feminine but I’ve become addicted, because when I wear it, summer is reborn.
This fragrance is no longer sold in Spain.
TL POUR ELLE by Ted Lapidus. As I’m totally in agreement with CokeChile, I’ll just share my emotions when I wear this perfume. It’s an explosion of spring on my skin, not just from the flowers but from the blend of vanilla, cedar and sandalwood. It’s feminine, luminous and warm. You’ll feel special any day in spring or summer, in a light dress and flat sandals by day, or a night dress and heels by night. There’s no competition, it can’t be compared. It has an splendid trail, like few others, and you don’t need many sprays. Its longevity is also very good. I absolutely love it! It’s discontinued, but you can find it at a good price if you search. Worth it. Best wishes.

Bought blind, trusting in Ted Lapidus after loving Creation before. Seeing the notes for Pour Elle left me breathless. They’re vintage yet very elegant and refined. I had no idea what to expect and I must say I liked it, although the white pepper or cedar gives it a bitter touch that didn’t quite convince me. I tolerated it because I adore ylang-ylang, tiare, jasmine, vanilla, sandalwood and tonka bean—my favourite notes for spring and summer. I think those bitter opening notes are unnecessary as the dry-down is already gorgeous. I wouldn’t recommend buying blind, though the ingredients are high quality and transport you to a warm beach, like Bali or Hawaii, in a luxury hotel villa with an exotic drink. If you’re a fan of this vibe, I’d recommend tolerating that opening to enjoy the beautiful dry-down.
It was a blind buy; I’ve always known Ted Lapidus has spectacular fragrances and one of them, Creation, had already enchanted me, but when I saw the notes for Pour Elle I was blown away. Although we know they’re vintage, most are very elegant and smell refined. I had no idea what I’d encounter and I must say I did like it, only that the white pepper or cedar make it smell somewhat bitter, which I don’t like. I tolerated it generally because I love ylang-ylang, tiare, jasmine, vanilla, sandalwood and tonka bean, my preferred notes for spring and summer, but I think the notes that make it smell particularly bitter or rancid at the start weren’t necessary as the rest make it very beautiful when dried. The truth is I wouldn’t recommend buying blind; although it contains high-quality ingredients and when you wear it you literally feel transported to a warm setting on a beautiful beach, like imagining Bali or Hawaii in a lovely villa with an exotic drink in a luxury hotel, lying on a daybed, if you’re a fan of this vibe I recommend it, just tolerate that opening note that disturbs a bit to wait for the beautiful dry-down it has.
