  • Discovery of the year! How can it cost less than £15? A jewel at jewellery shop prices. Fresh and acidic opening, green as its name suggests, it’s like stepping into a wet forest; over time we arrive at a dark place, fresh but woody, spiced and smoky. It has the vibration of Noir Anthracite, but for me it comes out fresher, greener, could remind me of one of the Narciso Rodriguez, Noir Blue or Blue Noir?, but this one in beast mode. I’ve read comments about an ashtray scent… I don’t know what they smoke, when I smoked Marlboro my ashtrays didn’t smell like that, and now that I don’t smoke I wouldn’t even get close to one. If you want a high-quality fragrance, outside the mass market and, personally, masculine, you have to try it without excuses. If you’re a ‘fresh’ woman, daring, different, it can be a very sexy fragrance too.

An Arabic perfume with excellent value for money and without the usual hype. I haven’t tried the Tom Ford Noir Anthracite (nor do I feel like it), but I do have the Narciso Rodriguez for Him and the Ralph Lauren Polo (the green one and the classic from ’78), and this Ajmal Green is like a mix of both. Watch out, this scent isn’t for the majority taste; you have to smell it first because it’ll turn many people off. It’s dark, herbal style, but without that ubiquitous and boring vetiver, nor the repetitive smoky incense nor the synthetic oud resins. It smells like wet forest grass, northern Spain type, mature. I’m very surprised that teenagers and twenties love it. Well, it’s for people with clear ideas and strong personality, both men and women, although by its bitter green whiff I think it’ll suit the lads more. Compliments? Have a look at MYSLF or an Aventus clone and forget me. Welcome to GREEN: bitter, proper, super herbal, fresh as a daisy and lasts a good while. Ginger, lots of galbanum (my dad says it smells like the geraniums on the balcony) and a base of soft cedar and sandalwood woods, ultra diluted. That’s it. I don’t find that leather some say; not suede, proper. Those who say that haven’t heard of the Tom Ford Ombré Leather nor the Acqua di Parma Leather, nor even a John Varvatos Dark Rebel or a No Limits by Phillip Plein, and I suspect they’ve never had a leather biker jacket in their wardrobe either.

WOW. If you’re looking for a verdant, rough, fresh and uncompromising scent, this is it, yes, this is it. Without a doubt, eh. What a cool thing and so ‘I don’t give a damn what you think’. It’s not scary at all. But it’s so peppery, sparky and masculine that people might not like it. Imagine a Quorum in his underwear, in his essence, something like that. The bastard vibrates and at the same time dresses you from head to toe. Very good performance. A real treat, chaps.

  • Puff, what a crazy perfume. The opening is galvanic, rough, and piercing; you can’t tell if it’s green or a madness by some Miguel Matos or Gualtieri. Suddenly, loads of green, which is why it’s called that. I’d have preferred it to go down the devil’s path, but for that we already have TFNA. For the price, just for the collection and the gorgeous bottle, it’s worth it. Warning: on women it smells like an old man, so it’s not for compliments except for your friend the Fragrantica geek. In short: it’ll blow you off your feet. Ideal occasion: personal enjoyment. Alternative: TF Noir Anthracite. Blind buy? Yes, for the ridiculous price, under $20.
